Abstract: | Fibrin carries sites which bind plasmin and preactivated plasminogen (mol.wt. 84,000) allowing the formation of stable complexes. Fibrinogen degradation product E interferes with this complex formation suggesting that the plasmin(ogen) binding site is present in this fragment. The complexes are also dissociated by the anti-fibrinolytic agents 6-aminohexanoic acid and aminomethyl cyclohexanoic acid which both compete for the fibrin binding site of plasmin and plasminogen. |
