| Abstract: | Illustrated by casuistics, a review of factitious disorders is given. In the present report, problems concerning definition, incidence, diagnosis, and treatment are discussed. Emphasis is put on patients suffering from a factitious disorder superimposed on an already existing somatic disease. It is stated that the conscious refrain from adequate actions as a result may lead to factitious symptoms. |
