Abstract:Objective To investigate the enzyme-production and antibacterial drug resistance of Serratia marcescens in order to provide valuable information for ration seledtion of antimicrobial agents. Method We used routine method to cultivate and separate bacteria. VITEK-Ⅱ automatic bacteria analyzer were used to identify bacteria. According to CLSI standard, Conventional susceptibility test were performed by Kirby-bauer method and MIC were determined by trace broth dilution method. Result We have chosen 50 clinically isolated strains of Serratia marcescens and most of them were separated from respiratory specimen (about 45 stains). 70% of them produced metal β -lactamase and 30% in AmpC enzymes, 80% in ESBLs enzymes. All those Serratia marcescens were resistance against the third generation cephalosporin (cefotaximes etc.). The sensitive rate was higher than 73% for piperacillin/tazobactam and 100% for meropenem. Conclusion Serratia marcescens, which mainly isolated from respiratory specimen, their drug resistance were more and more serious. Therefore reasonable choice of cephalosporin (such as ceftazidime and cefepime), enzyme inhibitors compound drug (such as piperacillin/tazobactam or cefoperazone/sulbactam) and carbapenems agents(such as meropenem) should be baseed on the bacterial resistant drug phenotype and drug susceptibility test results against Serratia marcescens infection.
