Abstract: | Combined traumatic lesions of the rotator cuff, the glenoid rim and the capsulolabral complex are less common. Generally, single-staged complete repair of all injured structures is recommended for early restoration of job-related and sport activities as well as for prevention of secondary lesions. A minimally invasive procedure is recommended to reduce surgical morbidity. In patients at the age of 60 with high physical demands, such a concept may provide good clinical results. The following case of a highly active 60-year-old man with sportive demands and lack of a relevant glenohumeral osteoarthritis is reported who underwent an extensive single-staged arthroscopic treatment for a combined shoulder injury following acute trauma. In detail, fixation of the bony Bankart lesion including anterior-inferior stabilization, repair of a full thickness supraspinatus and a cranial subscapularis tear as well as addressing a partial rupture of the long biceps tendon were performed arthroscopically. Increasing health awareness as well as sport and job-related activities in the elderly may increase the application of comprehensive minimally invasive approaches in the future with special regard to attractiveness and frequency. |
