Abstract: | In a prospective project during a 2-year period 132 patients with bladder outlet obstruction who were candidates for transurethral incision of the prostate were managed alternately by transurethral incision and transurethral resection of the prostate. Both operations were compared in matched patients. The results and complications favored transurethral incision, although there was no statistical significance except for the high incidence of bladder neck contracture after transurethral resection (p equals 0.028). |
