Abstract: | Polymorphisms within the human MHC are of interest to immunologists, for their functional significance, and to geneticists, as markers of populations. Here, Eleanor Riley and Olle Olerup describe how molecular analysis of the HLA complex is beginning to reveal the true extent of class II diversity, and demonstrate the use of this information to clarify the historical relationships between different human populations. |
