Rational use of antifungal agents in treatment of invasive fungal infection.

Invasive fungal infection(IFI) is a critical condition for which treatments are usually complex.Therefore,rational use of antifungal agents is crucial to achieve an ideal antifungal efficacy.When selecting an antifungal agent,clinicians need comprehensive considerations on general conditions of the patient and the classifications of pathogenic fungus,and then determine on the one with high antifungal activity,definite efficacy,good safety and tolerance.Echinocandins are a class of novel antifungal drugs with a unique mechanism of action and broad-spectrum coverage of common candida and aspergillus.These agents provide definite efficacy in treatment of invasive candidiasis and pulmonary aspergillosi,with higher safety as compared with polyene and triazoles.Thus,echinocandins are more preferred by clinicians as a treatment for IFIs.
