PurposeAttempts by magnetic resonance (MR) manufacturers to help imaging centres improve patient throughput has led to the development of more automated acquisition. This software is capable of customizing individual scan alignment; potentially improving imaging efficiency and standardizing protocols. However, substantial investments are required to introduce such systems, potentially deterring their widespread application. This study assessed the implementation costs and reduction in examination durations for automated knee MR imaging (MRI) software.Materials and MethodsResearch activities were performed at a community-based academic centre on a 3-Tesla (3-T) system using Siemens' Day Optimizing Throughput (Dot) knee software. Examination acquisition times were extracted from the system before and after software implementation. Fiscal year 2012/13 finances were used to determine the average hourly cost of MRI utilization. Costs associated with automated software implementation were also calculated. Finally, the number of knee scans required to achieve a positive return on investment using the software was established.Results and DiscussionThe mean (standard deviation, sample size) pre- and post-Dot software scan times were 23.20 (4.18, n = 266) and 21.94 (4.51, n = 59) minutes, respectively, for a routine knee scan and 11.88 (1.60, n = 74) and 11.24 (1.51, n = 27) minutes, respectively, for a fast knee scan. The overall weighted average resulted in a 64-second time savings per automated knee examination. This negligible time savings would be extremely difficult to make use of clinically. Dot simplified 29 unique knee protocols to two, improving the consistency of knee examinations. Current Dot software is not compatible with all patients and therefore has limitations that are a concern among MR technologists.ConclusionAdoption of automated knee systems could assist in standardizing protocols; however, the cost of implementation and difficulty in modifying patient scheduling to reflect the minimal time savings would make a financial return unlikely to occur at small- and medium-sized institutions.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the histological and biological features of the human cerebellar cortex development and differentiation. We analyzed 52 brains of fetal and infant death victims, aged from 17 gestational weeks to 12th postnatal month. In particular, in the cerebellar cortex at different ages we evaluated, besides the structural aspects, the expression of several biomarkers implicated in proliferative processes (c-fos, PCNA and apoptosis). We observed morphological patterns progressively evolving every month, from the indefinite structure of the second gestational trimester to the four-layered structure (external granular layer, molecular layer, Purkinje cell layer, internal granular layer) of the late fetal cortex and subsequently to the three-layered postnatal definitive morphology, due to involution of the external granular layer. The evaluation of the biological features of the cerebellar cortex showed high proliferative activity mainly confined to the transient external granular layer in prenatal life, and high apoptotic index after birth. Thus, the histological examination, better with the support of biomarker investigations, allows with accuracy to describe the dynamic sequence of steps that occur in human cerebellar cortex development and to establish in each case the age, namely the pre- or postnatal month of life. Consequently, we can diagnose delayed or altered processes of differentiation during the development of the human cerebellar cortex.  相似文献

透明质酸钠对大鼠成肌细胞增殖和分化的影响   总被引:3,自引:2,他引:1  
目的 研究透明质酸钠对成肌细胞增殖和分化的影响。方法 采用酶消化法将新生SD大鼠骨骼肌组织分离、纯化、原代培养及传代培养;取第3代成肌细胞,分别加入浓度为0.05%、0.1%及0.2%的透明质酸钠溶液作为生长培养基行体外培养为实验A、B及C组,加入常规生长培养基为对照D组,观察各组成肌细胞增殖情况,并采用细胞计数及MTT法绘制生长曲线。另选择0.1%透明质酸钠融合培养基行体外成肌细胞培养,常规融合培养基作对照,观察透明质酸钠对成肌细胞分化功能的影响。结果A、B及C组成肌细胞增殖表现相似,2d时进入对数生长期,4d时均达顶峰;D组成肌细胞于3d时进入对数生长期,5d时细胞数倍增,6d时达顶峰。MTT法所测吸光度(A)值的变化反映成肌细胞的增殖情况,与细胞计数的结果一致,以B组细胞增殖作用最明显,B组A值在2~8d时均高于C、D组(P〈0.05),8d时高于A组(P〈0.05)。0.1%透明质酸钠融合培养基中的成肌细胞融合率较低且上升缓慢,7d时融合率最高,为11.7%;常规融合培养基成肌细胞融合率于6d时达到峰值,约为35.0%。结论 透明质酸钠与成肌细胞的细胞相容性较好,可以作为良好的成肌细胞培养基。  相似文献

目的 探讨汉语失写症的神经心理语言学机制以及该研究对于汉语失写症病理行为的康复学意义。方法 采用汉语失语检查法和汉语失写检查法测试口语和书写能力,详细记录患者的书写、失写行为特征,区分言语障碍类型;运用计算机图像处理技术对病灶CT/MRI图像进行标准化、二维叠加、三维重建等处理,并与非失写对照组相减,显示不同失写类型病变的集中趋势。结果 左侧半球损害48例,其中失语30例,失写32例,后者中纯失写1例,失读并失写1例;右侧半球损害15例,其中失语失写3例。具体的资料分析表明:不同的失写类型有不同的病理行为特点。计算机图像处理结果显示:失语性失写病灶较集中的区域为左额顶叶深部白质。惰性失写主要集中在左外侧裂的前方、从额中下回向后部延伸。镜像书写则分散于左丘脑、基底节附近。结论 汉语失写症的病理行为特点与病损定位有密切的关系;双通道理论有可能符合汉语语言学机制;汉语失写症的神经心理学研究对汉语失写康复模式的制定有重要意义。  相似文献

This study demonstrates that ZnSO4 induced chemical trauma results in an in situ regeneration of the olfactory epithelium which, when maintained in vitro, provides an enriched population of olfactory neurons. Therefore, the ability of the olfactory epithelium to respond to chemical trauma with increased mitotic activity can be used to increase growth of neurons in culture. Tissue obtained from normal or vehicle-treated adult mice produced few olfactory neurons, when maintained in culture, compared to cultures established from tissue following an in situ ZnSO4 trauma. Maximal neuronal yields were obtained in cultures established from tissue that was removed 4–6 days following chemical trauma. The morphological appearance and the presence of cell specific intermediate filament proteins were used to classify the cell types in these olfactory epithelial cultures. Single cells and aggregates of cells which were immunopositive for keratin, but immunonegative for neurofilament protein and GFAP, were identified as epithelioid. Flattened polygonal cells immunopositive for GFAP were identified as glia. A small population of flattened cells was immunonegative for all of the antibodies used in this study. Cells that had processes were immunonegative for GFAP and keratin. Some were immunopositive for 200 kDa and 160 kDa neurofilament proteins but immunonegative for the 68 kDa neurofilament protein. A few of these cells showed positive immunoreactivity with the olfactory marker protein (OMP) antibody and most likely represented the most mature olfactory neurons in the cultures. This trauma-induced culture model using olfactory tissue from adult mice can serve as a source of CNS neurons for comparison with cultured embryonic neurons.  相似文献

目的 探讨软骨共培养体系诱导小鼠ES细胞向软骨细胞分化的可行性.方法 GFP标记的小鼠ES细胞初步分化为EB后,将EB消化为单个细胞,同猪关节软骨细胞按一定比例(1∶3)昆合后接种于PGA材料,体外培养1周后植入裸鼠皮下3周取材.对照组为EB细胞接种组及软骨细胞接种组.取材后行连续冰冻切片,切片分别做荧光拍照,HE染色及甲苯胺蓝染色.结果 组织学结果显示,EB细胞接种组形成畸胎瘤;软骨细胞对照组形成软骨组织;实验组形成软骨组织和畸胎瘤的混合体.甲苯胺蓝染色结果和荧光照片对照结果显示,部分软骨组织GFP阳性,由小鼠ES细胞分化而来.结论 软骨共培养体系可以诱导小鼠ES细胞向软骨细胞分化,但得到的软骨组织不纯,混有畸胎瘤组织.  相似文献

目的:利用培养小鼠髓性白血病(M1细胞)来检测小剂长春新碱(VCR)对小鼠M1细胞分化诱导功能。方法:分观察组对照组,观察组使用VCR1次5ug后进行吞噬功能实验,及对细胞形态的观察与空白对照组比较。结果:发现使用小剂量长春新碱后小鼠M1细胞诱变细胞增多,吴噬功能增强,结论:说明小剂量长春新碱对培养小鼠M1细胞有一定诱导功能,诱导其向粒细胞、吞噬细胞方向转化,在临床上白血病的治疗有一定的作用。  相似文献
