A technique is described for the detection of free fatty acids, triglycerides, wax esters and cholesterol esters on thin-layer Chromatographic plates. The fatty acids present in each fraction can be recovered from the plates after detection and quantitatively measured by gas-liquid chiomatography. This procedure has been sucessfully applied to the analysis of skin surface lipids.

Teaching files are common in radiology. Although there is an increasing role of digital technology in radiology departments, todays teaching files have not yet seen the application of this new technology. This may have been due in part to poor or incomplete implementation in many commercial software packages. We have demonstrated that by utilizing free software from the Internet, a web-based teaching file system, which is easy to use, low cost, and secure, can be created. 相似文献

Solid-state lighting (SSL) sources based on light-emitting diodes represent the new generation of highly efficient illumination systems that significantly impact energy-saving. The development of white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) with a combination of high color rendering index (CRI) and high deep-red color rendering R9 is an important challenge in the field of solid-state lighting. On the other hand, most WLEDs use rare-earth inorganic luminescent materials. The annual demand for rare-earth metals has doubled to 125,000 tons in 15 years, and the demand is projected to reach 315,000 tons in 2030. The explosion in demand for these materials, combined with a monopolistic supply source, represents a real risk for the development of WLEDs in the next few years. Luminescent organic materials are a relevant and promising alternative. Here, we report a WLED with a very high CRI of 95.7 and R9 of 78.7, obtained using a combination of a blue LED chip (excitation source) and two organic luminescent dyes (Coumarin 6 and Lumogen Red) acting as spectral converters in a multilayer remote phosphor configuration. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first rare-earth-free WLED with such high values of CRI and R9. 相似文献

Purkinje fibers play an essential role in transmitting electrical impulses through the heart, but they may also serve as triggers for arrhythmias linked to defective intracellular calcium (Ca2+) regulation. Although prior studies have extensively characterized spontaneous Ca2+ release in nondriven Purkinje cells, little attention has been paid to rate-dependent changes in Ca2+ transients. Therefore we explored the behaviors of Ca2+ transients at pacing rates ranging from 0.125 to 3 Hz in single canine Purkinje cells loaded with fluo3 and imaged with a confocal microscope. The experiments uncovered the following novel aspects of Ca2+ regulation in Purkinje cells: 1) the cells exhibit a negative Ca2+-frequency relationship (at 2.5 Hz, Ca2+ transient amplitude was 66 ± 6% smaller than that at 0.125 Hz); 2) sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) Ca2+ release occurs as a propagating wave at very low rates but is localized near the cell membrane at higher rates; 3) SR Ca2+ load declines modestly (10 ± 5%) with an increase in pacing rate from 0.125 Hz to 2.5 Hz; 4) Ca2+ transients show considerable beat-to-beat variability, with greater variability occurring at higher pacing rates. Analysis of beat-to-beat variability suggests that it can be accounted for by stochastic triggering of local Ca2+ release events. Consistent with this hypothesis, an increase in triggering probability caused a decrease in the relative variability. These results offer new insight into how Ca2+ release is normally regulated in Purkinje cells and provide clues regarding how disruptions in this regulation may lead to deleterious consequences such as arrhythmias. 相似文献
