Abstract: The dependence of transient pressure characteristics of a ventricular assist device (VAD) on the compliance of its housing and cannulas was investigated in a mock circulation. The peak rate of change of pressure ( dP/dt max ) values was greater in the cannulas than other compartments and was associated with valve closure-induced pressure oscillations. When cannula compliance was increased from 0.0057 to 0.0129 cm3 /mm Hg, these values decreased by ˜20%, and outflow cannula pressure oscillation frequency decreased from 17.5 Hz by 35%. This trend was also apparent in the inflow. A VAD housing compliance increase from 0.0162 to 0.0483 cm3 /mm Hg caused a dP/dt max decrease of 30% in both the blood chamber and the outflow cannula. The effect of this change on the inflow was weaker implying that housing absorbs the energy associated with outflow deceleration more effectively than the inflow. These findings suggest that increasing VAD housing and cannulas compliance can improve hydrodynamic performance. 相似文献

The ability voluntarily to stabilize the head in space during lateral rhythmic oscillations (0.59±0.09 Hz) of the trunk has
been investigated during microgravity (μG) and normal gravity (nG) conditions (parabolic flights). Five healthy young subjects,
who gave informed consent, were examined. The movements were performed with eyes open or eyes closed, during phases of either
μG or nG. The main result was that head orientation with respect to vertical may be stabilized about the roll axis under μG
with, as well as without vision, despite the reduction in vestibular afferent and muscle proprioceptive inputs. Moreover,
the absence of head stabilization about the yaw axis confirms that the degrees of freedom of the neck can be independently
controlled, as was previously reported. These results seem to indicate that voluntary head stabilization does not depend crucially
upon static vestibular afferents. Head stabilization in space may in fact be organized on the basis of either dynamic vestibular
afferents or a short-term memorized postural body schema.

By 2–3 months, infants engage in exploration of their own body as it moves and acts in the environment. They babble and touch
their own body, attracted and actively involved in investigating the rich intermodal redundancies, temporal contingencies,
and spatial congruence of self-perception. Recent research is presented, which investigats the spatial and temporal determinants
of self-perception and action infancy. This research shows that, in the course of the first weeks of life, infants develop
an ability to detect intermodal invariants and regularities in their sensorimotor experience, which specify themselves as
separate entities agent in the environment. Recent observations on the detection of intermodal invariants regarding self-produced
leg movements and auditory feedback of sucking by young infants are reported. These observations demonstrate that, early in
development and long before mirror self-recognition, infants develop a perceptual ability to specify themselves. It is tentatively
proposed that young infants’ propensity to engage in self-perception and systematic exploration of the perceptual consequences
of their own action plays an important role in the intermodal calibration of the body and is probably at the origin of an

Early maladaptive schemas (EMSs) have been hypothesized to be associated with interpersonal problems. Furthermore, a stronger contention is that EMSs impact negatively on, or cause, interpersonal problems. The aims of this meta‐analysis were (a) to assess the strength of the association between EMSs and interpersonal problems, (b) clarify which EMSs are most strongly associated with interpersonal problems, (c) examine any possible moderators on the relationship between EMSs and interpersonal problems, and (d) examine whether any empirical evidence exists supporting a causal relationship between EMSs and interpersonal problems. A comprehensive systematic literature search and meta‐analysis were conducted using the PRISMA guidelines for systematic reviews. A total of 49 empirical studies were reviewed investigating EMSs and interpersonal problems. EMSs were found to have a moderate positive association with interpersonal problems with different EMSs having small to moderate effect sizes. To date, there has been limited evidence supporting a causal effect of EMSs on interpersonal problems. Possible limitations and avenues for future research were discussed. 相似文献

目的 对BPX-80离心式血泵中剪切力引起血管性血友病因子(von Willebrand Factor,vWF)的损伤进行评价,判断其是否可以作为vWF损伤研究的参照泵。方法 按照ASTM标准搭建体外溶血测试平台,使用新鲜猪血在此平台对BPX-80离心式血泵进行8 h测试,然后评估每小时血液样本的溶血水平和vWF损伤,并与静态对照组进行比较。结果 在整个实验过程中,BPX-80的溶血指数保持稳定且较低;高分子量vWF多聚体有少量降解,与静置对照组相比无显著性差异;vWF抗原含量无明显变化,与静置对照组趋势基本一致。结论 BPX-80离心式血泵血液相容性良好,可以作为vWF损伤以及溶血评价实验的基准参照泵,从而为新型血泵的设计与优化提供参考。 相似文献

We studied the involvement of the parietal cortex in interpersonal body representation in a left parietal stroke patient. We used tasks assessing different types of body representations and localization of object parts. The patient performed normally on all tasks of body knowledge. However, she was unable to locate body parts on another person or on body representations. In contrast, she pointed correctly to the same body parts on herself or object representations. The data support the important role of the left parietal cortex in the transformation of intrinsic spatial coding of body parts localization in extrinsic body part coordinates. 相似文献
