Objective To investigate the changes of melatonin and cellular immunological function in children with febrile seizures and its clinical significance. Methods 50 children, including 23 cases with complex febrile seizure (CFS) and 27 cases with simple febrile seizure (SFS) , and 25 cases with upper respiratory infections children selected as control group were enrolled in this study. Serum melato- nin was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and cellular immunological function was measured by flow eytomcter. Results The levels of serum melatonin in the 3 groups of CFS, SFS, control were(14. 91±2. 61) ng/L, (20. 72±2. 54) ng/L, (23.93± 2. Ol) ng/L, respectively. The melatonin levels in CFS children were significantly decreased than that in control group and SFS children (P <0. O1). CD3 + ,CD4 +, the ratio of CD4 + /CD8 + and CD8 + in CFS group were significantly decreased than that in control group and SFS group (P <0.01). The ratio of CD4 +/CD8 + in SFS group was significantly decreased than that in control group (P <0.05), but CD3 + ,CD4 + and CD8 + had no statistics significance among these groups(P >0. 05). The serum rnelatonin level were positive related withdecreaseddegreeofCD3+,CD4+ andtberatioofCD4+ /CDS+ (r≥0. 472, P <0.05). Conclusion The disorder cfcellular immunological function was possible related with the loss of serum melatonin, and the loss of serum melatonin maybe one of the reasons for febrile seizures relapse and brain injured. 相似文献
Polo-like kinase 1 (Plk1) inhibitors belong to a new class of drugs for the treatment of malignant diseases. They selectively act against a target (Plk1) which is involved in different stages of mitosis such as centrosome maturation, spindle formation, chromosome separation and cytokinesis. Because Plk1 is mainly expressed in proliferating tissues and overexpressed in cancers, its inhibition is potentially less prone to toxicities associated with current antimitotic agents, which also act on nondividing cells. Several Plk1 inhibitors are being evaluated as cancer treatment drugs. Based on the essential role of Plk1 during mitosis, Plk1 inhibitors target all rapidly dividing cells irrespective of their tumor suppressor or oncogene mutations. In this article, their mechanisms of action, efficacy and toxicity profile are discussed. 相似文献
To compare the efficacy of neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) and transcutaneous nerve stimulation (TENS) on hemiplegic shoulder pain (HSP).
Design
This is a prospective randomized controlled trial.
Setting
A rehabilitation hospital.
Participants
Participants (N=90) were randomized into NMES (n=36), TENS (n=36), or control groups (n=18).
Interventions
NMES (15Hz, pulse width 200μs) was applied to supraspinatus and deltoids (medial and posterior parts), whereas TENS (100Hz, pulse width 100μs) was used on the same areas. The surface electrodes were placed near the motor points of the supraspinatus and medial or posterior bundle of deltoids. The 4-week treatment consisted of 20 sessions, each session composed of 1 hour of stimulation per day. Routine rehabilitation program without any stimulation was administered to the control and the NMES/TENS groups. Numerical rating scale (NRS), active/passive range of motion (AROM/PROM) of shoulder, upper extremity Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA), modified Ashworth scale (MAS), Barthel Index (BI), and stroke-specific quality of life scale (SSQOLS) were assessed in a blinded manner at baseline, 2, 4, and 8 weeks after treatment, respectively.
Main Outcome Measures
The primary endpoint was the improvement from baseline in NRS for HSP at 4 weeks.
Results
NRS scores in NMES, TENS, and control groups had decreased by 2.03, 1.44, and 0.61 points, respectively after 4 weeks of treatment, with statistically significant differences among the 3 groups (P<.001). The efficacy of the NMES group was significantly better than that of the TENS group (P=.043). Moreover, the efficacy of NMES and TENS groups was superior to that of the control group (P<.001, P=.044, respectively). The differences in the therapeutic efficacy on shoulder AROM/PROM, FMA, MAS, BI, and SSQOLS scores were not significant among the 3 groups.
Conclusions
TENS and NMES can effectively improve HSP, the efficacy of NMES being distinctly superior to that of TENS in maintaining long-term analgesia. However, NMES was not more efficacious than the TENS or control group in improving the shoulder joint mobility, upper limb function, spasticity, the ability of daily life activity, and stroke-specific quality of life in HSP patients. 相似文献
Introduction: While chemotherapy still remains a cornerstone of oncologic therapy, immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies has steadily improved the treatment strategy for several hematologic malignancies. New treatment options need to be developed for relapsed and refractory non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) patients. Currently, novel agents targeting specific molecules on the surface of lymphoma cells, such as anti-CD37 antibodies, are under considerable investigation. Here we report on anti-CD37 targeting for the treatment of patients with B-cell NHL.
Areas covered: CD37 seems to be the perfect therapeutic target in patients with NHL. The CD37 antigen is abundantly expressed in B-cells, but is absent on normal stem cells and plasma cells. It is hoped that anti-CD37 monoclonal antibodies will increase the efficacy and reduce toxicity in patients with both newly diagnosed and relapsed and refractory disease. Recent clinical trials have shown promising outcomes for these agents, administered both as monotherapy and in combination with standard chemotherapeutics.
Expert opinion: The development of new therapeutic options might help to avoid cytotoxic chemotherapy entirely in some clinical settings. This article presents the latest state of the art on the new treatment strategies in NHL patients. It also discusses recently approved agents and available clinical trial data. 相似文献
