The injury rate in football is high, and effective injury prevention methods are needed. An exercise program, the "11," has been designed to prevent the most common injury types in football. However, the effect of such a program on performance is not known. The aim of this randomized-controlled trial was to investigate the effect of the "11" on performance after a 10-week training period. Thirty-four adolescent female football players were randomly assigned to either an intervention (n=18) or a control group (n=16). The "11" is a 15-min program consisting of ten exercises for core stability, lower extremity strength, balance and agility. Performance tests included isokinetic and isometric strength protocols for the quadriceps and hamstrings, isometric hip adduction and abduction strength, vertical jump tests, sprint running and soccer skill tests. There was no difference between the intervention and control groups in the change in performance from the pre- to post-test for any of the tests used. In conclusion, no effect was observed on a series of performance tests in a group of adolescent female football players using the "11" as a structured warm-up program.  相似文献

BackgroundAthletes who have undergone anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction typically exhibit relatively high/rapid loading of their uninvolved limb during bilateral landing and jumping (vs. their limb that underwent reconstruction), which may place their uninvolved limb at risk for injury. However, previous studies have only examined forces and loading rates for tasks involving an isolated land-and-jump.PurposeThe purpose of this study was to examine bilateral landing and jumping kinetics during performance of a repetitive tuck jump task in athletes who had undergone anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and completed rehabilitation.Study DesignCross-sectional studyMethodsNine athletes (four males, five females) participated in this study. All participants had undergone successful unilateral anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, had completed post-operative rehabilitation, and were in the process of completing return-to-sport testing. Athletes performed a repetitive tuck jump task for 10 seconds, while ground reaction forces were recorded for their uninvolved and involved limbs via separate force platforms. Two-way analysis of variance, for within-subjects factors of limb and cycle, was performed for the impact forces, loading rates, and propulsive forces from the first five land-and-jump cycles completed.ResultsThere was not a limb-by-cycle interaction effect or main effect of cycle for the impact forces, loading rates, or propulsive forces; however, there was a main effect of limb for the impact forces (F(1, 8) = 14.64; p=0.005), loading rates (F(1, 8) = 5.60; p=0.046), and propulsive forces (F(1, 8) = 10.38; p=0.012). Impact forces, loading rates, and propulsive forces were higher for the uninvolved limb, compared to the involved limb, over the five land-and-jump cycles analyzed.ConclusionThe athletes in this study consistently applied higher and more rapid loads to their uninvolved limb over multiple land-and-jump cycles. This may help to explain the relatively high injury rates for the uninvolved limb in athletes who have returned to sport following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.  相似文献

Female athletes have a four- to sevenfold increased risk of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury compared with their male counterparts playing at similar levels in the same sports. The elevated risk of ACL injury in females coupled with the geometric increase in female sports participation in the last 30 years has led to a rapid rise in these injuries. This large increase in ACL injury incidence has fueled studies into both mechanisms of injury and interventions to prevent injury. A review of published multidisciplinary approaches demonstrates that several training protocols have utilized multiple components targeted toward injury prevention training and were able to reduce injury incidence in female athletes. Similar training techniques may also be used to gain improvements in measures of performance. The purpose of this review is to highlight training components that may reduce ACL injury risk and assess their potential for combined use in performance-oriented protocols.  相似文献
