Surgical emergencies in pregnancy in the era of modern diagnostics and treatment

Pregnancy can be complicated with different surgical emergencies which may potentially endanger the mother as well as foetus. In the modern era of advanced diagnostics and treatments, neither of them in response to a surgical emergency in a pregnant woman should be delayed. Appropriate early intervention is essential to decrease the morbidity and mortality. Following article encompasses common surgical emergencies that can arise in a pregnant woman and tries to suggest the approach that may be taken to reduce the burden of morbidity and mortality.     

Managing healthcare worker well‐being in an Australian emergency department during the COVID‐19 pandemic

Emergency Medicine staff in Australia and New Zealand are at the forefront of the healthcare response to COVID‐19. This article describes a well‐being plan for ED staff that has been devised to mitigate against the negative psychological impact of the COVID‐19 pandemic.     

情景模拟联合案例讨论在急诊护理临床带教中的应用体会

目的探究急诊护理临床带教中采用情景模拟、案例讨论联合教学法效果。方法在本院实习的若干名护生中,选取124名护生分按照教学方法分组,对照组62名实施传统急诊护理带教,观察组62名实施案例讨论、情景模拟联合教学法,对比临床带教效果。结果两组实践与理论成绩相比,观察组成绩更高(P<0.05)。思维、急救及应激能力自我评价相比,观察组的总提高率高于对照组(P<0.05)。实施案例分析结合情景模拟教学模式后,问卷调查中观察组无护生不赞同此模式,非常赞同此教学模式的护生占总人数的90%以上。结论实施案例讨论、情景模拟联合教学模式后,护生急诊护理实践与理论水平均提升,护生我评价较高。     

口腔医疗机构应对国家突发公共卫生事件的问题与思考

突发公共卫生事件应急管理是一个全球性的课题。本文就2019年12月以来发生在中国的新型冠状病毒肺炎这一突发公共卫生事件,口腔医疗机构及其从业人员面临的相关问题进行法律层面的分析与思考,以期对口腔医疗行业应对突发公共卫生事件提供帮助和指导。     

吉林辽宁两省18年来的目标设置对突发公共卫生事件应急工作落实情况的关联研究

目的本研究立足于项目组前期研究的成果上，积极探索吉林辽宁两省目标设置水平的差异，并进一步探究受目标设置影响下的工作落实结果情况，探讨产生差异的原因。 方法以系统穷尽的方式收集吉林辽宁两省2000至2017年有关目标与工作落实情况的指标，利用Spearman相关和线性回归分析吉林辽宁两省目标设置对于突发应急工作落实情况的影响。 结果吉林辽宁两省突发应急领域的目标设置水平与工作落实情况总体均呈现上升趋势，截至2017年，吉林目标设置水平与工作落实情况分别为46%与60%，辽宁为60%与53.3%，且目标设置水平与工作落实呈正相关。 结论有公众需要为依据且定量可考的目标设置对于工作落实、推进、完善具有积极的正反馈作用，建立科学量化的突发应急目标设置评价体系是适宜可行的。     

New Zealand Emergency Medicine Network: A collaboration for acute care research in New Zealand

The specialty of emergency medicine in Australasia is coming of age. As part of this maturation there is a need for high‐quality evidence to inform practice. This article describes the development of the New Zealand Emergency Medicine Network, a collaboration of committed emergency care researchers who share the vision that New Zealand/Aotearoa will have a world‐leading, patient‐centred emergency care research network, which will improve emergency care for all, so that people coming to any ED in the country will have access to the same world‐class emergency care.     

Successful Use of Surgically Placed Impella 5.0 and Central Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation Circuit in a Patient with Postcardiotomy Shock

The Impella 5.0, a percutaneously inserted left ventricular assist device, has been used to support patients who have severe heart failure or who are undergoing high-risk percutaneous coronary intervention. We report our surgical placement of the Impella 5.0, through a graft sewn to the aorta, to unload the left ventricle of a 59-year-old man who was undergoing venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for postcardiotomy shock. The patient underwent successful placement of a long-term left ventricular assist device before his discharge from the hospital. The versatility of the Impella 5.0 is exemplified in this patient who was successfully bridged to long-term support.
