National intercomparisons of activity measurements of 131I, a radioisotope widely used for diagnosis and therapy of thyroid related ailments, were initiated in 1979 as a quality assurance program, towards improving radiation safety procedures and related dosimetry in Nuclear Medicine Centres (NMCs) in India. Oral administration of a known quantity of radioiodine to patients requires accurate radioactivity measurements to be performed on a well-calibrated isotope calibrators. Under or over estimation of the activity due to a faulty or uncalibrated isotope calibrator could provide misleading results. Calibration of isotope calibrators and the traceablity of subsequent measurements to the national standards laboratory is one of the essential basic radiation safety requirement of the IAEA. In view of the stringent quality assurance requirements for activity measurements imposed by Atomic Energy Regulatory Board, a National Intercomparison Program was initiated and to date ten such intercomparison programs have been conducted by the Radiation Safety Systems Division, of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. This program has benefited the participants by making their measurements traceable to the National Primary Standards. Over the years there has been a marked increase in the number of NMCs participating in the intercomparison programs. As a result, the number of institution showing large deviation from the correct value has decreased considerably over the years. This program thus, has enabled participating NMCs to check their isotope calibrators so as to ensure proper delivery of radiation dose to the patients and hence to optimise patient exposure. 相似文献

Enforcing Imprecise Constraints on Generative Adversarial Networks for Emulating Physical Systems 下载免费PDF全文
Generative adversarial networks (GANs) were initially proposed to generate images by learning from a large number of samples. Recently, GANs have been
used to emulate complex physical systems such as turbulent flows. However, a critical question must be answered before GANs can be considered trusted emulators for
physical systems: do GANs-generated samples conform to the various physical constraints? These include both deterministic constraints (e.g., conservation laws) and
statistical constraints (e.g., energy spectrum of turbulent flows). The latter have been
studied in a companion paper (Wu et al., Enforcing statistical constraints in generative
adversarial networks for modeling chaotic dynamical systems. Journal of Computational Physics. 406, 109209, 2020). In the present work, we enforce deterministic yet
imprecise constraints on GANs by incorporating them into the loss function of the
generator. We evaluate the performance of physics-constrained GANs on two representative tasks with geometrical constraints (generating points on circles) and differential constraints (generating divergence-free flow velocity fields), respectively. In
both cases, the constrained GANs produced samples that conform to the underlying
constraints rather accurately, even though the constraints are only enforced up to a
specified interval. More importantly, the imposed constraints significantly accelerate
the convergence and improve the robustness in the training, indicating that they serve
as a physics-based regularization. These improvements are noteworthy, as the convergence and robustness are two well-known obstacles in the training of GANs. 相似文献

BACKGROUND: Baricity is one of the most important factors to influence the characteristics of distribution of the local anaesthetic and hence success and spread of the blockade. Bupivacaine is rendered hyperbaric by adding glucose. The effect of differing degrees of hyperbaricity remains to be evaluated. METHODS: Two hyperbaric bupivacaine solutions, in 0.9% and in 8% glucose, for spinal anaesthesia were investigated in 60 children, aged 1-7 years, in a double-blind, randomised, parallel group, prospective study. The children were premedicated with diazepam orally. Bupivacaine 5 mg ml(-1) in either 0.9% or 8% glucose was injected in a dose of 0.4 mg kg(-1). Maximum cephalad extent and regression of sensory block were tested by transcutaneous electrical stimulation. RESULTS: Success rate, spread and duration of sensory block were similar in both groups. Only one child required a single dose of fentanyl during surgery. The highest median level of sensory block was T3 (T2-T7) (median (10th/90th percentiles)) in both groups. Time to reach T10 did not differ between the groups. The incidence of adverse effects was similar. Atropine was administered to one child in each group to treat bradycardia and 6 children (10%) experienced shivering. One child in each group vomited once. CONCLUSION: These results demonstrate that bupivacaine in 0.9% glucose and in 8% glucose solutions are equally suitable for spinal anaesthesia in small children. Similar success rate, spread and duration of the sensory and motor block are achieved with both baricities of bupivacaine. 相似文献
