Local injection of a mixture of beta-aminopropionitril fumarate (BAPN-f) and sodium hyaluronate (NaH+) together with controlled exercise were evaluated for treatment of superficial digital flexor tendon (SDFT) injuries in horses.
Fourteen mixed breed horses with subacute SDF tendon injuries in forelimbs were randomly assigned to two groups. One group
received BAPN-f (0.7 mg/ml) and the other received NaH+ (10 mg/ml) all by intratendinous injection. Controlled exercise started during the first week after intratendinous treatment
and continued for 12 weeks. Cross-sectional area (CSA) of the SDFT, diameter of the SDFT, and relative area of the lesion
(presence of CSA) were measured by ultrasonographic examination. Lesions were semiquantitatively graded for echogenicity on
a scale of 0 to 4. The lesion severity in CSA was significantly reduced by BAPN and NaH compared to those horses treated by
BAPN only (p < 0.05). Lesion echogenicity score was significantly higher in horses treated with BAPN and NaH+ at day 0 compared to horses treated with BAPN (p < 0.05). At the end of the study, lesion echogenicity score was significantly reduced in the horses treated with BAPN and
NaH+ compared to horses treated by BAPN only (p < 0.05). According to the results of the present study, a combination of BAPN-f and NaH+ has a greater beneficial effect on tendon healing and remodeling in horses, as assessed by sonographic examination, compared
to treatment with single drugs. 相似文献
Structural-mechanical strength and swelling of gels consisting of gelatin and potassium hyaluronate (PHY) or potassium protine-chondroitin-4-sulfate (PPCS) were shown to depend on the ratio between the components. With low concentrations of PHY and PPCS the minimum of structural-mechanical strength coincided with the maximum of swelling of the gels. In zones of neutralization of the positive electric charges of gelatin by macropolyanions, high structural-mechanical strength of the gels coincided with the minimum of swelling. In high concentrations of PHY, structural-mechanical strength and swelling of the gel became equal to the values characteristic of a gel consisting of gelatin only, but in high concentration of PPCS there was an additional parallel increase in this strength and in swelling of the gel.(Presented by Academician of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR S. Summary Many steps in melanoma metastasis involve cell-cell or cell-matrix adhesive interactions. The surface molecules which mediate these processes therefore play an important role in regulating melanoma dissemination and their level of expression may alter during the course of tumor progression. Human melanocyte strains and melanoma cell lines have been characterised with regard to levels of cell surface receptors of the integrin family. Increased amounts of at least two integrins, VLA-4 (41) and VnR (V3), appeared to correlate with progression in this tumor, type. A novel VnR composed of an V1 association has been observed in one melanoma cell line and there is the possibility that heterogeneity of integrin composition could affect biological behavior of these tumors.CD44, a cell surface glycoprotein which functions as the major receptor for hyaluronate, is another molecule whose expression increases in transformed cells of the melanocytic lineage. Iterative sorting on the FACS for stable variants, of both human and murine melanomas, expressing low and high levels of CD44 established that lack of expression of this molecule correlated with impaired ability to form pulmonary tumor nodules subsequent to i.v. injection into appropriate recipient mice. These findings illustrate that an understanding of the regulation of melanoma adhesion receptors could provide insights into the process of tumor spread. 相似文献
