New methods of adjuvant immunotherapy were introduced for thetreatment of malignant brain tumors. Allogeneic bone marrowcell transfusion or local intratumoral infusion of allogeneicor autologous peripheral white blood cells were conducted on18 patients having malignant glioma, after ordinary treatmentof operation, radiation or chemotherapy. The survival rate ofthese patients was significantly prolonged when compared withthe rate normally expected. No side effects were noted. Morphologicalchanges of cells in the cerebrospinal fluid taken from the intratumoralcavity, before and after infusion of peripheral white bloodcells, were studied. Cytolysis and phagocytosis of tumor cellsby macrophages were observed. Suppressive mechanism of immunologicallycompetent cells on glioma cells was partly studied, cytologicallyin vitro. 相似文献

Electrical stimulation of the spinal cord can be used for treatment of intractabie pain and spasticity. Based on our experimental findings cervical spinal cord stimulation (cSCS) was performed on eight patients with severe brain dysfunction due to traffic accidents, pronounced vasospasm caused by subarachnoid hemorrhage or surgery of huge cerebral tumors (chordoma). After a 1 to 2 month period of stimulation, two patients became conscious and began to speak. It remains unclear whether cSCS induced the restoration of consciousness and improved neurological deficits. Although the successful results might be due to chance, cSCS might have stimulated brain function. This preliminary report shows such excellent results that further studies are warranted. 相似文献

Three human brain tumors, oligodendroglioma, glioblastoma andmalignant histiocytoma, were successfully transplanted intonude mice. In the case of oligodendroglioma, various experimentaltherapeutic agents were tried on the transplanted tumor of thenude mice in order to select the most effective agent. Vincristinewas found to be the most potent. A total dose of 16 mg of vincris-tinewas also effective in the donor patient. Although the patientdied of a head injury soon after the vincristine therapy, thisreport is worth publishing from the viewpoint of a successfulclinical trial based on the results of experimental therapyof a human glioma transplanted into nude mice. 相似文献

In four patients with advanced breast cancer, the TSH, prolactin,LH and FSH reserve was measured, before and after hypophysectomy,by stimulation with TRH and LH-RH. Two out of the four patientswere objectively improved following the operation. It was foundthat the clinical effects of hypophysectomy did not correlatewith changes in secretion of any of these pituitary hormones.In addition, the complete absence of pituitary hormones afteroperation did not necessarily mean that treatment had been effective.
