Fifty two outpatients, who showed signs of school-refusal-withdrawal at the Shiga Prefectural Psychiatric Institution have been analyzed according to their age, gender, ICD-10 diagnosis, medical evolution, and total number of consultations. A total of 61.5% of the population were male, and they showed a higher average and a wider range of age than female patients. According to the ICD-10 diagnosis, 67.3% were in the group of F40-48 neurotic, stress-related and somatoform disorders, and 11.5% were in the group of F30-39 mood [affective] disorders. Twenty five % of the patients were assumed to have show medical improvement, and 42.3% of the patients continued to have further consultations. Water-insoluble polyelectrolyte complexes (PEC) were prepared by mixing methyl glycol chitosan (MGC, 1 ) and [2-(diethylamino)ethyl]dextran (EA, 2 ) with poly(potassium vinyl sulfate) (PVSK, 3 ) in aqueous solution at various hydrogen ion concentrations. Elemental analyses, IR spectroscopy, and solubilities of PEC reveal that PEC differ in molecular structure and properties according to pH. It seems that the degree of dissociation and the conformation of MGC, EA, and PVSK change with pH. PEC membranes were made by casting from solutions of all kinds of PEC, and transport phenomena through the membrane of PEC prepared in 4 wt.-% HCl solution were investigated under various conditions. The driving force of the transport depends on the membrance potential, Donnan potential, and diffusion potential, according to measurements of the transport ratio of Na+ and the electric potential difference between the left- and right-hand side of the membrane. The present study was designed to investigate the presynaptic alpha 2-adrenoceptor function to inhibit norepinephrine (NE) release in blood vessels of reduced renal mass salt hypertensive rats (Na-loaded HT). Isolated perfused mesenteric vasculatures were prepared from Na-loaded HT and normotensive control rats (NT-control), and the NE release and vascular responsiveness were examined. Periarterial nerve stimulation caused a significantly greater release of NE and pressor responses in Na-loaded HT than in NT-control. Yohimbine, a potent alpha 2-adrenoceptor antagonist, demonstrated the facilitatory effects on NE release during nerve stimulation. The effects were significantly attenuated in Na-loaded HT compared with NT-control. These results demonstrate that vascular sympathetic nervous activity might be enhanced in Na-loaded HT. Furthermore, the increased NE release from vascular adrenergic neurons in Na-loaded HT could partially depend on impaired presynaptic alpha 2-adrenoceptor-mediated modulation, which might contribute to the pathogenesis and maintenance of this form of salt-dependent hypertension. 相似文献

We report the case of a 67-year-old woman with severe hypertension caused by an extra-adrenal pheochromocytoma. The tumor was detected by 131I metaiodobenzylguanidine scintigraphy and it was found to be small (2 cm ?) by enhanced CT. After the extirpation of the tumor, the blood pressure of the patient immediately normalized. It should be taken into account that a small extra-adrenal pheochromocytoma can be one of the causes of secondary hypertension in elderly patients. Since small extra-adrenal pheochromocytomas are difficult to detect, it is also important to perform suitable examinations to establish the diagnosis. Furthermore, we emphasize the importance of an accurate diagnosis in elderly patients with pheochromocytoma, for they often have less symptomatology and more severe cardiovascular complications due to refractory hypertension than younger patients. 相似文献

The modifying effects of atrazine, and/or tamoxifen, on thyroid carcinogenesis were investigated in a rat two-stage carcinogenesis model following N-bis(2-hydroxypropyl)nitrosamine (DHPN) initiation. Five-week-old male F344 rats were given a single subcutaneous injection of DHPN (2800 mg/kg, body weight) or vehicle alone. Starting 1 week later, the animals were fed a diet supplemented with 0, 5, 50 or 500 ppm of atrazine, 500 ppm atrazine plus 5 ppm tamoxifen, or 5 ppm tamoxifen in the DHPN-treated groups, and 0 or 500 ppm of atrazine in the DHPN-untreated groups for 24 weeks. At autopsy major organs, including the thyroid, pituitary, liver, kidney, testis, epididymis, and brain, were collected and histopathologically examined. Body weights were significantly (P<0.05) decreased by the high doses of atrazine or tamoxifen, the effect being enhanced in combination. Relative thyroid weights were significantly increased (P<0.05) only in the tamoxifen-treated group and pituitary weights were elevated with 500 ppm atrazine plus tamoxifen (P<0.05). Relative liver weights were increased by the high dose of atrazine. However, the atrazine and/or tamoxifen treatments did not induce significant histopathological changes in the major organs, including the thyroid, nor cause significant changes in serum TSH levels. Ligation of the chemokine receptor CCR2 on monocytes and macrophages with its ligand CCL2 results in activation of the cascade consisting of phosphatidylinositol-3-OH kinase (PI(3)K), the small G protein Rac and lamellipodium protrusion. We show here that a unique clathrin heavy-chain repeat homology protein, FROUNT, directly bound activated CCR2 and formed clusters at the cell front during chemotaxis. Overexpression of FROUNT amplified the chemokine-elicited PI(3)K-Rac-lamellipodium protrusion cascade and subsequent chemotaxis. Blocking FROUNT function by using a truncated mutant or antisense strategy substantially diminished signaling via CCR2. In a mouse peritonitis model, suppression of endogenous FROUNT markedly prevented macrophage infiltration. Thus, FROUNT links activated CCR2 to the PI(3)K-Rac-lamellipodium protrusion cascade and could be a therapeutic target in chronic inflammatory immune diseases associated with macrophage infiltration. 相似文献
