Stress related to parenting a child with autism spectrum disorder can differently affect caregiver's physiological reactivity to acute stress. Here, parental stress levels, psychological characteristics, and coping strategies were assessed alongside measures of heart rate, heart rate variability, and cortisol during a psychosocial stress test in mothers of children with ASD (M‐ASD, n = 15) and mothers of typically developing children (n = 15). M‐ASD reported significantly higher levels of parental stress, anxiety, negative affectivity, social inhibition, and a larger preference for avoidance strategies. M‐ASD showed larger heart rate and cortisol responses to the psychosocial stress test. A positive relationship was found between parental stress levels and the magnitude of the cortisol stress response in both groups. The present findings indicate exaggerated physiological reactivity to acute psychosocial stress in M‐ASD and prompt further research to explore the role of individual differences in mediating the effects of parental stress on physiological stress responses. 相似文献

Persistent infection by human papilloma virus (HPV) is considered to be the main cause of cervical cancer and other ano-genital cancers. Of more than 30 genotypes able to infect the anogenital tract, it is estimated that, worldwide, HPV 16 and 18 cause 70% of cervical cancers and that HPV 6 and 11 cause more than 90% of genital warts. A bidirectional flow of information exists between the CNS and the neuroendocrine and immune systems, representing an important homeostatic mechanism in the body. Lymphokines and other products of immunocompetent cells seem to play a crucial role in this communication and seem to exert powerful effects on neurones in the brain. In this article, Giuseppe Nisticò and Giovambattista De Sarro describe the central effects following interleukin 2 (IL-2) microinfusion into several areas of the rat brain. The locus coeruleus seems to be the main site in the brain through which IL-2 exerts soporific effects. In addition, the possible transducing mechanisms coupling IL-2 receptor stimulation and the electroencephalogram (EEG) spectrum power responses elicited from the locus coeruleus seem to involve stimulation of specific receptors coupled to adenylate cyclase through a Gi protein. 相似文献
