We deterrnined the content of substance P in the serum of the patients with pain syn-drorne using radioimmunoassay before and after the acupuncture analgesia' The results suggested thatthe acupuncture rnight obviously reduce the content of substance P in the serum of the patients withpain syndrome. The results proved that the acupuncture analgesia might reduce the release of sub-stance P through some mechanism and produce effects of analgesia.
