ABSTRACTA study was conducted to evaluate mucoadhesive property and immunomodulatory effect of phytogenic gums from Boswellia frereana, Boswellia carteri andCommiphora myrrha on intranasal Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) vaccination in goats and sheep in an ex-vivo and in-vivo situations. Plant gums were purified, dried and compressed into 500gm tablets. Modified shear stress measurement technique was used on freshly excised trachea and intestine tissues of goat to measure peak adhesion time. Forty eight animals (24 goats and 24 sheep) were divided into eight groups (of 3 goats and 3 sheep) and immunized intranasally with gum-vaccine combinations in two ratios (1:1, 1:2). Antibody against PPR virus was measured on day 14, 28, 42 and 56 post vaccination using H-based PPR bELISA. The peak adhesion time of the different gums was transient. PPR virus antibodies were detected in all immunized goats and sheep but not in unvaccinated control. The best percentage inhibition was recorded for Boswellia carteri-vaccine combination group at a ratio of 1:1. Administration of Boswellia carteri-PPR vaccine combination through intranasal or subcutaneous route, elicited similar antibody titre, implying that the intranasal route may be used as a non-invasive alternative delivery in PPR vaccination of small ruminants. 相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of 2-hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin (HPBCD) as an antidotal treatment for the in vivo cardiovascular effects of amitriptyline poisoning. Experiments were carried out on 33 Wistar rats. To evaluate cardiovascular effects of HPBCD, rats were infused with dextrose or HPBCD. In the poisoning model, amitriptyline (0.94 mg/kg/min) was infused until the mean arterial blood pressure (MAP) dropped to 50 % of the baseline. Following amitriptyline infusion, dextrose, low-dose HPBCD (4.19 mg/kg/min), or high-dose HPBCD (16.76 mg/kg/min) was infused, and MAP, heart rate (HR), and electrocardiogram were recorded for 60 min. Hearts were examined for tissue damage and apoptosis. HPBCD infusion alone did not yield significant difference for MAP, HR, QRS duration, QT interval, and cardiac tissue damage when compared to dextrose (p > 0.05). In the poisoning model, MAP and HR decreased, while QRS duration and QT interval prolonged significantly following amitriptyline infusion (p < 0.0167). Dextrose, low-dose HPBCD, and high-dose HPBCD infusion similarly corrected MAP, HR, QRS duration, and QT interval values at the end-experiment time point (p > 0.05). Histological scores for tissue damage and apoptosis showed no significant difference between the groups (p > 0.05). Based on our results, HPBCD did not show cardiovascular toxicity, while it was not more effective than dextrose for the treatment of amitriptyline poisoning. Further antidotal studies of cyclodextrins with higher doses and/or binding affinities are needed for poisonings. 相似文献

[Purpose] Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder resulting from a defect in insulin
secretion, insulin action, or both. A consequence of this is chronic hyperglycemia with
disturbances in carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism. We investigated whether there is
any difference among DM patients and a control group in terms of lumbar and femur BMD
(bone mineral density), and standard deviation scores (Z score and T score). [Subjects and
Methods] This randomized, prospective, controlled, single-blind study was conducted in the
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department Faculty of Medicine, Bezm-i Alem Vakıf
University. Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were included in the patient groups.
Healthy individuals were included in the control group. [Results] A total of 126 patients
completed the study (63 in the study group, 63 in the control group). There was no
significant difference in the results of the laboratory examinations of the cases. The
bone mineral densities of the cases were found to be significantly low in terms of the
lumbar (L1–4) T scores in the type 2 diabetes group. [Conclusion] Although osteoporosis is
one of the potential complications of type 1 diabetes, its effect on bone mineral density
in type 2 DM is controversial. In different studies, the bone mineral density values have
increased, decreased or remained normal. With the exception of the lumbar (L1–4) T score,
similar results were obtained in this study.Key words: Type 2 diabetes mellitus, Osteoporosis, Bone mineral density 相似文献

We aimed to show the utility and reliability of sternal morphometric analysis for sex estimation.Sex estimation is a very important step in forensic identification. Skeletal surveys are main methods for sex estimation studies. Morphometric analysis of sternum may provide high accuracy rated data in sex discrimination. In this study, morphometric analysis of sternum was evaluated in 1 mm chest computed tomography scans for sex estimation. Four hundred forty 3 subjects (202 female, 241 male, mean age: 44 ± 8.1 [distribution: 30–60 year old]) were included the study. Manubrium length (ML), mesosternum length (2L), Sternebra 1 (S1W), and Sternebra 3 (S3W) width were measured and also sternal index (SI) was calculated. Differences between genders were evaluated by student t-test. Predictive factors of sex were determined by discrimination analysis and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis.Male sternal measurement values are significantly higher than females (P < 0.001) while SI is significantly low in males (P < 0.001). In discrimination analysis, MSL has high accuracy rate with 80.2% in females and 80.9% in males. MSL also has the best sensitivity (75.9%) and specificity (87.6%) values. Accuracy rates were above 80% in 3 stepwise discrimination analysis for both sexes. Stepwise 1 (ML, MSL, S1W, S3W) has the highest accuracy rate in stepwise discrimination analysis with 86.1% in females and 83.8% in males. Our study showed that morphometric computed tomography analysis of sternum might provide important information for sex estimation. 相似文献

Aims
To investigate the role of beta receptor blockade via adenosine A1 receptor stimulation on amitriptyline-induced QRS prolongation. Methods
Isolated rat hearts were randomized into three groups (n = 8 for each group). After pretreatment with 5% dextrose (control) or DPCPX (8-cyclopentyl-1,3-dipropylxanthine), or propranolol + DPCPX, amitriptyline infusion was given to all groups. Intact beta adrenergic receptor response was verified with a bolus dose of isoproteranol (3 × 10−5 M).Results
Amitriptyline (5.5 × 10−5 M) infusion following pretreatment with 5% dextrose or 10−4 M DPCPX prolonged QRS by 40–110% and 30–75%, respectively. After the beta receptor blockade with 10−2 M propranolol bolus, amitriptyline infusion following pretreatment with DPCPX prolonged QRS by 40–130%. Amitriptyline infusion following pretreatment with DPCPX (10−4 M) shortened the QRS at 40, 50 and 60 min significantly when compared to propranolol + DPCPX group (168.8 ± 4.9%, p < 0.05; 170.8 ± 6.9%, p < 0.01; 174.0 ± 6.9%, p < 0.01, respectively). Amitriptyline infusion following pretreatment with 5% dextrose prolonged QRS duration significantly at 50th minutes (209.5 ± 6.1%, p < 0.05) compared to DPCPX pretreatment group.Conclusion
DPCPX pretreatment shortened amitriptyline-induced QRS prolongation. Beta adrenergic receptor blockade enhanced QRS prolongation shortened by DPCPX pretreatment. Adenosine A1 receptor stimulation related to beta adrenergic receptor blockade may play a role in amitriptyline-induced QRS prolongation in isolated rat hearts. 相似文献8.
