Synthesis and antitumor activity of pyrano[4′,3′:4,5]pyrido[2,3-b]thieno[3,2-d]-1,2,3-triazine and l,2,3-triazino[4′,5′:4,5¦thieno-[2,3-c]isoquinoline derivatives

Methods for the synthesis of new heterosystems of condensed thieno[3,2-d]-1,2,3-triazines on the basis of pyrido[2,3-b]thiophenes have been developed. Cutaneo-fascial flaps in restorative and reconstructive surgery of burns

On the basis of experience with the treatment of more than 1,500 patients with post-burn defects, deformities, and trophic ulcers, the authors distinguished types of affection in which the traditional methods are ineffective. These 133 patients were subjected to plasty with ++cutaneo-fascial grafts; the zones of donor areas from which the grafts are taken are determined. Plasty with ++cutaneo-fascial grafts is indicated in defects of the face, deformity of the neck, total adduction contracture of the arm, defect of the breast, and affections of the hand, leg, and foot. Concrete grafts and the site from which they are taken for restoration of certain regions of the body are suggested. ++Cutaneo-fascial grafts make it possible to restore the shape, function, and the skin of the involved region.     

A comparative evaluation of methods for detecting duodenogastric reflux in patients with peptic ulcer]

The duodenal contents were examined in 81 patients with gastroduodenal ulcer. Bile acid concentrations, alkaline phosphatase activity, and sodium ion concentration were measured for the detection of duodenogastric reflux. Measurements of sodium ion concentration permitted estimation of the immediate volume of the duodenogastric reflux in the gastric contents. No methods for duodenogastric reflux detection should be given preference in examinations of peptic ulcer patients. Multiple-modality studies appear to be the most effective.     

Derivatives of condensed thienopyrimidines: Synthesis and anticonvulsant and tranquilizer activity of hydrochlorides of pyrano[4′,3′:4,5]thieno[3,2-e]imidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidines

New methods for the synthesis of 4-substituted 6,7-dihydro-7,7-dimethyl-5-oxo-9H-pyrano-[4′,3′: 4,5]-thieno[3,2-e]imidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidines and their hydrochlorides are developed. Complications of endoscopic examinations of the upper segments of the gastrointestinal tract

A ten-year experience with 106610 diagnostic esophagogastroduodenoscopies provided evidence of a 0.03% rate of relevant complications and 2.38% mortality. Out of 39 patients with endoscopy-related complications 5 were operated on: 4 had esophageal perforations, 1 had hemorrhage following biopsy of the ulcer. Out of 7384 therapeutic and operative endoscopies none were associated with lethal outcome. Surgery was avoided either. Complications developed in 45 patients (0.036%): in 44 patients hemorrhages occurred after electroexcision of the polyps.     

Therapeutic effect of phenolic compounds isolated from <Emphasis Type="Italic">Rhododendron ungernii</Emphasis> leaves

The sum of phenolic compounds was obtained from the leaves of Caucasian endemic plant Rhododendron ungernii (Trautv.) in the amount of 7%. The extract contains flavonoids, catechins, and anthocyanidins, in particular, quercetin, isoquercetin, quercitrin, hyperin, rutin, (+)-catechin, (−)-epicatechin, (+)-gallocatechin, and leucoanthocyanidins. The sum of phenolic compounds from Rhododendron ungernii completely inhibits Herpes simplex virus reproduction in a bioassay. A new medicinal preparation (Rhodopes) in the form of a 5% ointment was created on the basis of this extract and tested under clinical conditions at a dental clinic and three other specialized medical departments. The results showed a high therapeutic efficacy: Rhodopes favorably influenced the state of patients and caused neither mucosa irritation nor allergic and other adverse reactions.
