Time budget, progress, and adaptation in school-university profile class pupils

The paper considers the hygienic aspects of optimization of daily and weekly time budgets, the formation of healthy lifestyle choices in 10th-to-11th-form pupils from the vocational guidance classes of comprehensive secondary schools during intensified school lessons and adaptation of first-year students.     

Contribution of professor L.A. Syrkin to the development of methodical bases for anthropometric studies in children and adolescents

The paper historically considers the impact of social differentiation on the physical development of children and adolescents. It analyzes the scientific contribution of Prof. Lev Abramovich Syrkin (1894-1951) to the formation and development of a system for anthropometric studies in Russia in the first half of the twentieth century (1920s to 1950s), to the elaboration of principles in the standardization of tools, and to the unification of anthropometric studies and standards for the physical development of preschool and school children.     

Cardiac output in rats of different ages during blockade of α1 and β-adrenoceptorsand β-adrenoceptors

In acute experiments on rats of different ages (21, 30, 42 and 70 days), the α₁-adrenoblocker prazosin increased the heart rate (HR), and the β-blocker propranolol (Obsidan) infused after prazosin reduced this parameter. Prazosin decreased both stroke volume and cardiac output, blockade of β-adrenoceptors further decreased these parameters. It is concluded that both α₁- and β-adrenoceptors are involved in the sympathetic regulation of cardiac output in developing animals. Effects of Expression of Transcriptional Factor AP-1 <Emphasis Type="Italic">FOSL1</Emphasis> Gene on Psoriatic Process

We performed quantitative analysis of FOSL1 gene expression in lesional psoriatic skin. The expression of this gene in lesional psoriatic skin was significantly increased compared to that in unaffected areas. Enhanced FOSL1 expression significantly correlated with high psoriasis area and severity index (PASI). High level of FOSL1 gene expression was proposed to be a marker of pathological process activity in psoriasis.     

Comparative Study of the Expression of ATF-3 and ATF-4 Genes in Vessels Involved into Atherosclerosis Process and in Psoriatic Skin

Expression of ATF-3 and ATF-4 genes was examined quantitatively by real-time PCR and changes in the expression of these genes in atherosclerotic lesions and in psoriatic skin were demonstrated. It was found that concomitant pathologies do not affect the expression of these genes. Opposite changes in the expression of ATF-3 and ATF-4 genes in atherosclerotic and psoriatic samples were revealed and a hypothesis was put forward that this parameter could be a criterion of pathological process in both diseases.

The paper considers the topical hygienic aspects of education and adaptation improvement in senior (fourth-year) medical students from the Faculty of Medical Prevention.     

Research priorities at medical prophylaxis faculty

Medical Prophylaxis Faculty of I. M. Setchenov Moscow Medical Academy, which is now 70 years old, has made a significant contribution to development of sanitary epidemiological service in the country and training of specialists and research and training staff. The main forms of activities are training, research, and improvement of training and methodological work on the basis of research results, as well as upbringing of students. Despite the difficulties arising in the course of science and economy reforms, the departments of the Faculty continue fundamental and applied research. This paper sums up the activities of Medical Prophylaxis Faculty and outlines the main trends of research carried out at its departments.
