Post‐traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a debilitating condition that may develop after experiencing a traumatic event. Combat exposure increases an individual's chance of developing PTSD, making veterans especially susceptible to the disorder. PTSD is characterized by dysregulated emotional networks, memory deficits, and a hyperattentive response to perceived threatening stimuli. Recently, there have been a number of imaging studies that show structural and functional abnormalities associated with PTSD; however, there have been few studies utilizing electroencephalography (EEG). The goal of this study was to characterize **EEG brain dynamics in individuals with PTSD, in order to better understand the neurophysiological underpinnings of some of the salient features of PTSD, such as threat‐processing bias. Veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom/Iraqi Freedom completed an implicit visual threat semantic memory recognition task with stimuli that varied on both category (animals, items, nature, and people) and feature (threatening and nonthreatening) membership, including trauma‐related stimuli. Combat veterans with PTSD had slower reaction times for the threatening stimuli relative to the combat veterans without PTSD (VETC). There were trauma‐specific effects in frontal regions, with theta band EEG power reductions for the threatening combat scenes in the PTSD patients compared to the VETC group. Additionally, a moderate negative correlation was observed between trauma‐specific frontal theta power and hyperarousal symptoms as measured by clinically administered PTSD scale. These findings complement and extend current models of cortico‐limbic dysfunction in PTSD. The moderate negative correlation between frontal theta power and hyperarousal endorsements suggests the utility of these measures as therapeutic markers of symptomatology in PTSD patients.  相似文献

Few evidence-based social interventions exist for young adults with high-functioning autism, many of whom encounter significant challenges during the transition into adulthood. The current study investigated the feasibility of an engaging Virtual Reality Social Cognition Training intervention focused on enhancing social skills, social cognition, and social functioning. Eight young adults diagnosed with high-functioning autism completed 10 sessions across 5 weeks. Significant increases on social cognitive measures of theory of mind and emotion recognition, as well as in real life social and occupational functioning were found post-training. These findings suggest that the virtual reality platform is a promising tool for improving social skills, cognition, and functioning in autism.  相似文献

A number of psychiatric illnesses have been recognized to have some level of insight deficits, including developmental disorders, such as Asperger’s Syndrome (ASP). However insight into illness has not been empirically investigated in ASP and little research has examined how individuals with ASP view their deficits. This is the first study to assess insight and the relationship between insight and externalizing bias (EB) in ASP. Participants with ASP (n?=?21) and healthy controls (n?=?24) were recruited. Attributional style was assessed with the internal, personal, and situational attribution questionnaire. Insight was assessed with both a clinician-administered and a self-administered measure. Results revealed that EB was negatively correlated with insight as assessed with the clinician-administered but not the self-administered measure of insight.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between the protamine ratio (P1/P2), DNA fragmentation of spermatozoa and protamine deficiency. Patients were grouped into fertile (G1; n = 151) and sub‐fertile (G2; n = 121). DNA fragmentation in spermatozoa was analysed by a TUNEL assay (terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase‐mediated deoxyuridine triphosphate nick‐end labelling), and the protamination was determined by CMA3 staining, while Western blot was used to measure protamine P1 and P2. While sperm DNA fragmentation (SDF) and protamine ratio were significantly elevated in G2 compared with G1 (12.31 ± 7.01% vs. 17.5 ± 9.5%; p = .001) and (0.91 ± 0.43 vs. 0.75 ± 0.42; p = .003); respectively, the CMA3 positive showed no difference at all between G1 and G2. In G1, the CMA3 positive correlated negatively with the P1/P2 ratio and SDF (r = ?.586, r = ?.297; p = .001 respectively). In contrast, the protamine ratio correlated positively with SDF (r = .356; p = .001). In G2, no correlation was observed between CMA3 positive, SDF and the P1/P2 ratio but the P1/P2 ratio showed a positive correlation with SDF (r = .479; p = .001). In conclusion, the spermatozoa DNA deterioration was closely associated with abnormal protamination but showed an association with the protamine ratio, more than with CMA3 positive. Therefore, for the evaluation of DNA damage in spermatozoa, the P1/P2 ratio might act as an additional biomarker.  相似文献

Objective: Medical history information regarding prior traumatic brain injury (TBI) usually relies on self-report, although little is known about the reliability of this information with regard to injuries sustained years or decades earlier. Even less is known about the reliability of self-reported medical history information in older individuals with cognitive impairment. To this end, we assessed the test-retest reliability of self-reported TBI history in a large, national sample. Methods: Participants (n = 4309) were older adults with intact cognition, mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) from the National Alzheimer’s Coordinating Center. Subjects provided TBI history information at baseline and one annual follow-up visit. Consistency of self-reported history of TBI with <5 minutes loss of consciousness (mLOC) and TBI with ≥5 mLOC reported at time 1 and 2 was analyzed across diagnostic groups. Results: Overall, subjects provided reports of TBI history at follow-up that were highly consistent with baseline reports (97.8–99.6% agreement), and Cohen’s kappa coefficients were all larger than .80 and statistically significant, maximum p < .001. Furthermore, level of cognitive impairment was not a significant predictor of consistency in reporting. Conclusions: These data are some of the first to suggest that self-report may be a consistent method of obtaining remote TBI history in the absence of medical records for older individuals, regardless of cognitive impairment.  相似文献

The study examined the relation between parental anxiety and child feeding progress. Eighteen sets of parent and G-tube-fed child dyads participated. Caloric intake was recorded daily as the outcome measure of treatment progression. Parental anxiety was measured subjectively (self-report questionnaires) and objectively (salivary cortisol). Objective parental anxiety increased significantly (p < .001) when parents went from simply observing to actually feeding the child. There was, however, no direct relation between parental stress and caloric intake. Exploratory analyses of documented behavioral observations during feeding revealed a significant increase (p <. 001) in the child's negative behaviors with parental feeding, as opposed to staff feeding. Based on the results, further research to investigate parent–child dynamics during feeding is warranted.  相似文献
