Serum levels of bone markers N-mid osteocalcin (OCN-Mid) and Cross-Laps in 20 patients (8 men and 12 women) with loosening of at least one element of total hip endoprosthesis confirmed during operation were compared with age and sex matched group with OA. Marker levels were measured by direct chemoluminescency using Modular E-170. Statistical analysis were done with t-Student test (alpha = 0.05). There were no significant differences in OCN-Mid, Cross-Laps levels and OCN-Mid/Cross-Laps ratio between both groups. Implant loosening is a slow process taking place on a relatively small surface in comparison to whole skeleton, so bone markers have no clinical value in diagnostics of total hip loosening.  相似文献

ObjectiveTo assess for the presence of gastric dysmotility in familial and sporadic Parkinson disease (PD).Methods10 subjects with familial Parkinson disease (fPD), 35 subjects with sporadic Parkinson disease (sPD), and 15 controls, all from academic tertiary care movement disorders centers, were studied. fPD was defined as the presence of at least 2 affected individuals within 2–3 consecutive generations in a family. Molecular genetic analysis has not revealed, thus far, any known genomic abnormality in these families. Gastric emptying was assessed by dynamic abdominal scintigraphy over 92 min following ingestion of a solid meal containing 99mTc-labeled colloid of 40 MBq activity. The main outcome measures were gastric emptying half-time and radiotracer activity over the gastric area at 46 and at 92 min.ResultsGastric emptying time was delayed in 60% of subjects with PD. In comparison to mean t1/2 of 38 ± 7 min in controls, mean t1/2 was 58 ± 25 min in fPD (p = 0.02) and 46 ± 25 min in sPD (p = 0.10). Both fPD and sPD groups included subjects with delayed gastric emptying at an early stage of disease.ConclusionsPatients with fPD showed significantly delayed gastric emptying in comparison to normal age-matched individuals. Further studies of gastrointestinal dysfunction in PD, particularly fPD, are warranted.  相似文献

The objectives of this study were to determine the relationship between carotid-femoral (cfPWV) and aortic pulse wave velocity (aPWV) and to compare their modulators and association with coronary artery disease (CAD). We studied 107 consecutive patients (68 men) with a mean age of 60.49+/-8.31 years who had stable angina and had been referred for coronary angiography. cfPWV and aPWV were measured simultaneously during cardiac catheterization using the Complior device and aortic pressure waveform recordings, respectively. Based on the presence or absence of significant coronary artery stenosis (CAS) patients were subdivided into a CAS+ or CAS- group. The mean values of cfPWV and aPWV were 10.65+/-2.29 m/s and 8.78+/-2.24 m/s, respectively. They were significantly higher in the CAS+ (n=71) compared with the CAS- (n=36) group and predicted significant CAS independently of cardiovascular risk factors and mean or systolic aortic blood pressure. aPWV and cfPWV were significantly correlated (r=0.70; p<0.001) but the degree of correlation differed significantly (p<0.03) between the CAS+ (r=0.74, p<0.001) and CAS- group (r=0.46, p=0.003). Age and mean aortic blood pressure were independent predictors for aPWV as well as cfPWV. In the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis, aPWV and cfPWV had similar accuracy in identification of significant CAS (AUC [area under the ROC curve]=0.76 and 0.69, respectively; p=0.13). However, neither cfPWV nor aPWV was effective at differentiating the extent of CAD. In conclusion, aPWV and cfPWV are highly correlated parameters with similar determinants and comparable accuracy in predicting significant CAS. The strength of correlation between these two indices differed significantly between subjects with and those without CAS.  相似文献

The paper presents the results of a pilot study which involved 50 nurses from several departments of internal medicine of The State Clinical Hospital of the Collegium Medicum, Jagiellonian University in Cracow. The results are based on the Statement Response Questionnaire. They show that the most common responses of the nurses in the face of anxiety expressed by patients are cheering up the patient, collecting information about the symptom, and offering explanation of the symptom. The least common responses included expressing one's own positive emotions and showing empathy towards the patient.  相似文献

The effects of N-methyl-D-aspartic acid (NMDA) and phencyclidine (PCP) on extracellular levels of dopamine (DA) and dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (DOPAC) in the striatum of the rat were studied using in vivo microdialysis. Intrastriatal infusion of NMDA produced a significant dose-dependent increase in extracellular DA and a decrease in concentrations of DOPAC. Whereas both 2-amino-5-phosphonovalerate (APV) and PCP antagonized the NMDA-induced increase in extracellular levels of DA, the effect on NMDA-induced changes in extracellular concentrations of DOPAC were different for the two compounds. The APV significantly attenuated the decrease in extracellular DOPAC produced by smaller concentrations of NMDA, whereas PCP did not prevent decrease in DOPAC produced by any concentrations of NMDA. Phencyclidine alone produced a dose-dependent increase in extracellular DA but had no effect on the extracellular concentration of DOPAC. This study demonstrated that PCP, at concentrations which did not produce an increase in extracellular DA, antagonized the effect of the NMDA on DA. The data also indicated that both APV and PCP antagonized the NMDA-evoked release of DA over a range of concentrations of NMDA, even though they did so by different mechanisms.  相似文献

Although the voltage-sensitive Ca channel present in Paramecium has been subjected to detailed physiological and genetic analysis, no organic ligands have been described that block this channel with high affinity and that ultimately can be used to identify channel components. Based on a previous observation that the naphthalene sulfonamide calmodulin antagonist W-7 can block Paramecium Ca channels at high concentration, we have synthesized analogs of W-7 that block these channels at concentrations of less than 1 microM. The effectiveness of these compounds was tested both by a sensitive behavioral assay and on Ca channels that had been incorporated into planar lipid bilayers. Despite the fact that these compounds are effective Paramecium calmodulin antagonists, two independent lines of evidence suggest that W-7 and its analogs block the Ca channel by a mechanism that is independent of their action on calmodulin. In addition, the sensitivity to W-7 or dihydropyridines of Ca channels present in a number of eukaryotic phyla has been used to identify similarities in Ca channels from widely diverse organisms. It appears that the pharmacological specificity provides a means to group Ca channels.  相似文献
