Mixed cryoglobulinaemia is frequently associated with chronic hepatitis. We report a patient with mixed cryoglobulinaemia, hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection and palpable purpura. The skin manifestations were diagnosed as leucocytoclastic vasculitis in view of both the clinical appearance and the histological findings. In this study, we demonstrated the presence of IgG–class anti–HCV–antibody. HCV–RNA and IgA–class rheumatoid factor in the cryoprecipitate. These results suggest that the cryoglobulinaemia in this case was caused by aggregation of an immune complex comprised of HCV and anti–HCV antibody with IgA–type–rheumatoid factor, and that this led to a cutaneous vasculitis. 相似文献

Mucosal blood flow in the human palate was measured by a temperature controlled thermoelectrical method based on the thermal conductivity of mucosal tissue using a blood flow monitor and a non-invasive surface probe. The effect of mechanical pressure on the palatal mucosal tissue was studied. Mechanical pressure (2.5, 5.0, 7.5, 10.0 or 15.0 g mm-2) to the mucosal surface was exerted circumferentially around the surface probe. In five out of seven subjects, the blood flow showed a tendency to be almost constant under the mechanical pressures which are 10.0 g mm-2 or higher. The effect of the duration of the pressure (10.0 g mm-2) exertion on the blood flow was also investigated and it was revealed that the blood flow tended to be constant after 60s in every subject. In the present study, it was also demonstrated that the temperature controlled thermoelectrical method is appropriate for studying the blood flow dynamics in oral mucosa. 相似文献

Summary: Clinical studies revealed that angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor reduces proteinuria and attenuates progressive decline in renal function in IgA nephropathy. Recent studies by us and others have demonstrated that the homozygote of the D allele (DD) of the ACE insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphism is a potential risk factor for poor prognosis in IgA nephropathy, and that this deletion polymorphism predicts the therapeutic efficacy of ACE inhibition on proteinuria and, potentially, on progressive deterioration of renal function in patients with the nephropathy. 相似文献

The in-vitro permeability of chemically modified tetragastrin with fatty acids through the rat skin was studied. The permeability of these compounds through intact skin and stripped skin of rat was determined with a Franz-type diffusion cell. The permeation of tetragastrin across the intact skin was improved by chemical modification with acetic acid and butyric acid. However, tetragastrin and caproyl-tetragastrin did not permeate across the intact skin up to the end of experiment. The permeation of tetragastrin across the stripped skin was improved by chemical modification, the skin flux of these acyl derivatives being in the order: acetyl > butyroyl > caproyl. The stability of tetragastrin in skin homogenate was also significantly improved by chemical modification with fatty acids. These results suggest that chemical modification of tetragastrin with fatty acids increases its lipophilicity, which makes it permeable across the stratum corneum. Moreover, the chemical modification reduced the degradation of tetragastrin in the viable skin, resulting an increase in permeation of tetragastrin across the skin. 相似文献

AIM: The aim of the present study was to elucidate the role of high temperature requirement A2 (HtrA2) in germ cell loss in the heat-stressed testis. METHODS: We examined the expression of HtrA2, caspase-9 activity and proteolytic activity of HtrA2 in the rat testis, and their in vivo responses to experimental cryptorchid treatment. RESULTS: Northern analysis revealed the expression of HtrA2 mRNA peaked at days 1 and 7 after cryptorchid treatment. While expression of HtrA2 mRNA was seen in the spermatogonium, spermatocytes and some spermatids in normal adult rat testis, experimental cryptorchidism treatment resulted in a marked increase in its signal intensity in spermatocytes and some spermatids, and the layers of spermatogonium and early primary spermatocytes became negative at days 1 and 7 after the treatment. However, the spermatogonium, Sertoli cells and interstitial cells appeared to have strong intensities at days 14, 28 and 56 after the treatment. Western analysis revealed the expression of HtrA2 protein peaked at day 2 coinciding with the increase of positive spermatogonium, the appearance of protein-positive interstitial cells, and day 28 coinciding with the reappearance of protein-positive interstitial cells. Caspase-9 activity peaked at day 2 and HtrA2 proteolytic activity peaked at day 28. Consequently, the first peak of HtrA2 mRNA expression was followed by the peak of caspase-9 activity and the second peak was followed by the peak of proteolytic activity; however, the second peak of mRNA expression had considerable chronological difference from that of the protein. CONCLUSION: These findings suggest the probabilities that the heat stress results in germ cell death by a caspase-independent manner with the elevation of HtrA2 proteolytic activity, as well as a caspase-dependent manner with the elevation of caspase-9 activity. 相似文献

A 55‐year‐old‐man had a laparoscopic resection of the sigmoid colon due to colon cancer with submucosal invasion. After the surgery he suffered ileus and had a laparotomy. Six months later he complained of frequent defecation. Colonoscopy confirmed a circular ulcer extending from the anal side of the anastomosis in the sigmoid colon to the mid rectum. Endoscopic ultrasound demonstrated thickening of all layers of the diseased colon and rectum. We diagnosed ischemic colitis. After intravenous drip infusion of prostaglandin, symptoms and colonic stricture gradually improved. Although abdominal angiography revealed a narrowing of the peripheral sigmoid branch of the inferior mesenteric artery, blood flow was unrestricted. Fluid and protein secretion by the submandibular glands of 25-day-old rats were examined and compared in response to three cholinergic and four peptidergic sialogogues at various doses. All cholinergic and peptidergic agonists used were potent sialogogues for the submandibular glands of the weanling rats over the wide range of doses used. The cholinergic agonists, bethanechol and methacholine and the peptidergic agonists, substance P, substance PTyr8 and eledoisin-related peptide used intravenously, acted similarly to each other on the submandibular glands of the rats, late in the natural weaning period, but carbachol and physalaemin had slightly different effects. Of the peptidergic agonists, physalaemin was the most potent sialogogue among four tachykinins tested at the low dose. The types of protein secreted by the submandibular glands of the weanling rats in response to all sialogogues used here were typical of the β-type. These results indicate that all agonists used could mainly stimulate the acinar cells of the submandibular glands of the weanling rats which have already fully developed functionally at this time. 相似文献
