PurposeTo evaluate prospectively if the impaction of a bone dowel in the tibial tunnel prevents the tunnels from enlarging beyond their original diameter.MethodsSeventeen patients underwent arthroscopically assisted ACL reconstruction with hamstring autologous graft. All patients underwent CT of the knee on the day of surgery, at 3 months and 12 months post-op.ResultsOn the day of surgery, the median cross-sectional areas of the tunnels were 77.0 and 79.0 mm2, respectively at 15 mm and 20 mm from the tip of the posterior wall of the tunnel. At 3 months, the median cross-sectional areas of the tunnels were 70.0 and 65.0 mm2, at 15 mm and 20 mm. At 12 months post-op, the median cross-sectional areas of the tunnels were 69.0 and 69.0 mm2. The median enlargement of the tunnels between 3 months and 12 months post-op was 0.0 mm2 at 15 mm and ? 2.0 mm2 at 20 mm.ConclusionsThe impaction of an autologous bone dowel in the tibial tunnel during hamstring ACL reconstruction keeps the tunnels from enlarging beyond their original diameter, and there is no further enlargement of the tunnels after 3 months post-op. 相似文献

Metals capped with organochalcogenides have attracted considerable interest due to their practical applications, which include catalysis, sensing, and biosensing, due to their optical, magnetic, electrochemical, adhesive, lubrication, and antibacterial properties. There are numerous reports of metals capped with organothiol molecules; however, there are few studies on metals capped with organoselenium or organotellurium. Thus, there is a gap to be filled regarding the properties of organochalcogenide systems which can be improved by replacing sulfur with selenium or tellurium. In the last decade, there has been significant development in the synthesis of selenium and tellurium compounds; however, it is difficult to find commercial applications of these compounds because there are few studies showing the feasibility of their synthesis and their advantages compared to organothiol compounds. Stability against oxidation by molecular oxygen under ambient conditions is one of the properties which can be improved by choosing the correct organochalcogenide; this can confer important advantages for many more suitable applications. This paper reports the successful synthesis and characterization of gold nanoparticles functionalized with organochalcogenide molecules (dibutyl-disulfide, dibutyl-diselenide and dibutyl-ditelluride) and evaluates the oxidation stability of the organochalcogenides. Spherical gold nanoparticles with diameters of 24 nm were capped with organochalcogenides and were investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) to show the improved stability of organoselenium compared with organothiol and organotellurium. The results suggest that the organoselenium is a promising candidate to replace organothiol because of its enhanced stability towards oxidation by molecular oxygen under ambient conditions and its slow oxidation rate. The observed difference in the oxidation processes, as discussed, is also in agreement with theoretical calculations.This study presents the improved stability against oxidation by molecular oxygen under ambient conditions of organoselenium compared with organothiol, and organotellurium. 相似文献

The prognostic meaning of the routine use of the methods of temporary clipping of the afferent vessel in patients with intracranial aneurysm (Grading 0-III) was the aim of the analysis in this study. In the period 1 January, 1991-31 December 1997, 304 patients underwent surgery for non-giant intracranial aneurysm and a follow-up angiography. 157 patients were operated by routinely using the temporary clipping of the afferent vessel, whereas in 147 patients the surgical procedure was performed by traditional methods. The statistical analysis showed a significant reduction (p < 0.001) in terms of risk of surgical complications in the patients who underwent surgery with the temporary clip method compared to those operated with the traditional method, with a relative risk of such complications about three times greater in the latter. The routine use of temporary clipping offers, therefore, the possibility of a significant improvement of the surgical results, not influenced by a further involvement for the structure, due to the short application time. 相似文献

Two cases of pre-excitation syndrome are reported and the anaesthesiological management adopted is discussed. After a brief overview of the pathophysiology of the syndrome relative indications and contraindications of the main anaesthetic drugs and volatile agents are analyzed. The high incidence of perioperative atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter or supraventricular tachycardia and the importance of maintaining sinus rhythm is recalled. The task confronting the anaesthetist is to ensure an adequate level of anaesthesia during induction and maintenance while carefully selecting specific drugs associated with minor cardiovascular side effects. In the Authors' experience benzodiazepines, fentanyl, vecuronium and isoflurane have proved to be the most adequate choice for this type of patient. 相似文献

A multiplex polymerase chain reaction (multiplex-PCR) to detect and differentiate bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1) and 5 (BoHV-5) was developed using primers for the gene sequence that encodes the glycoprotein C. The technique was assessed against the BoHV-1 and BoHV-5 cell culture adapted strains, and clinical samples collected from animals with clinical signs of BoHV-1 (n = 10) or BoHV-5 (n = 7) infection and with diagnosis confirmed by virus isolation in cell culture and semi-nested PCR. Fifteen clinical samples from asymptomatic animals were included as control group. For the evaluation of the amplifiability of the extracted nucleic acid from clinical specimens was included a bovine internal control that amplified a 626 bp fragment of the ND5 gene present in the bovine mitochondrial DNA. For DNA extraction, a combination of the phenol/chloroform/isoamyl alcohol and silica/guanidine isothiocyanate methods was used. The specificity of the BoHV-1 and BoHV-5 amplicons from standard strains were confirmed by sequence analysis. All the positive clinical samples for BoHV included in this study were characterized as BoHV-1 or BoHV-5 by the difference in length of the amplified product visualized in a agarose gel (354 bp size for BoHV-1, and 159 bp for BoHV-5). The internal control was amplified in all clinical specimens. Non-specific reactions were not observed when the multiplex-PCR was assessed with other viruses (bovine viral diarrhea virus and rabies virus) and BoHV-negative clinical samples from fetuses and adult cattle obtained from a slaughterhouse. 相似文献

We investigated Seneca Valley virus (SVV) contamination in pig feed and feed ingredients. Twenty‐seven samples were collected from two Brazilian feed mills and subjected to conventional RT‐nested‐PCR and qRT‐PCR assays. Seven samples were SVV‐positive with viral loads of 3.94–4.33 log10 genomic copies/g of feed. The study reveals SVV feed and feed ingredient contamination under natural conditions in Brazil. 相似文献

Treatment with classical neuroleptics in humans can produce a serious side effect, known as tardive dyskinesia (TD). Here, we examined the possible neuroprotective effects of resveratrol, a polyphenol compound contained in red grapes and red wine, in an animal model of orofacial dyskinesia (OD) induced by acute treatment with fluphenazine. Adult male rats were treated during 3 weeks with fluphenazine enantate (25 mg/kg, i.m., single administration) and/or resveratrol (1 mg/kg, s.c., 3 times a week). Vacuous chewing movements (VCMs), locomotor and exploratory performance were evaluated. Fluphenazine treatment produced VCM in 70% of rats and the concomitant treatment with resveratrol decreased the prevalence to 30%, but did not modify the intensity of VCMs. Furthermore, the fluphenazine administration reduced the locomotor and exploratory activity of animals in the open field test. Resveratrol co-treatment was able to protect the reduction of both parameters. Taken together, our data suggest that resveratrol could be considered a potential neuroprotective agent by reducing motor disorders induced by fluphenazine treatment. 相似文献
