A new semi-empirical formula for the evaluation of (n,(3)He) reaction cross-sections at the energy of 14.6 and 20 MeV is presented. Formula was derived using the analytical expression for the evaluation of the (3)He spectrum within the frame of pre-equilibrium exciton model. The systematics obtained is compared with the empirical formula for the (n,(3)He) reaction cross-section.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Reconstruction of the infrarenal aorta for aneurysms is routinely performed through laparotomy. A less invasive videoscopic approach has not gained wide acceptance due to technical difficulties. Robotic systems could potentially improve imaging of the operative field and surgeon's dexterity during videoscopic surgery and therefore might facilitate the performance of this procedure. The aim of this animal study was to compare the safety and efficacy of a robot-assisted videoscopic aortic replacement to the standard videoscopic approach. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In 10 female pigs, the infrarenal aorta was partially replaced by a 10 mm polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) interposition graft through a videoscopic retroperitoneal approach, using the da Vinci robot system (robot group). Ten other pigs were operated on in a similar fashion, using standard videoscopic instruments (control group). Relevant procedure times, blood loss and complications were registered. Efficacy of the anastomoses was evaluated by measuring patency and blood loss after removing the clamps. Furthermore, circumference and number of stitches were evaluated at autopsy. RESULTS: The procedure, suturing and clamping times were significantly shorter in the robot group and blood loss was less. In the control group, the inferior vena cava was injured in one pig. In two cases in the control group, haemostasis could not be established after clamp removal. At autopsy, all anastomoses in the robot group were adequate. In the control group, a stitch crossing the aortic lumen was found in two distal anastomoses and a large distance (>3 mm) between two stitches was encountered at least once in 12/20 suture lines. All 20 grafts were patent. No anastomotic narrowing was encountered. The number of stitches used for proximal and distal anastomosis was higher in the robot group. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrates the superiority of robot-assisted videoscopic aortic replacement over standard videoscopic techniques in an animal model.  相似文献

The stability of tolerance ofStaphylococcus aureus during subculturing at 37°C and development of this property after repeated exposure to cloxacillin or vancomycin were investigated in vitro. Four of five tolerant strains lost this property during repeated subculturing at 37°C for 50 days. Conversely, tolerance emerged in two of four nontolerant strains after repeated cycles of exposure to 25 µg of cloxacillin/ml or 10 µg of vancomycin/ml alternating with growth in antibiotic-free medium. Previous in vivo exposure to cloxacillin did not enhance the development of tolerance in vitro. MICs of both cloxacillin and vancomycin did not change significantly during this procedure. Whether the conversion of nontolerant strains to the tolerant state can also occur during antibiotic exposure in treatment of patients remains to be determined.  相似文献

Superoxide, an agent which attenuates the half-life of nitric oxide, is metabolized and synthesized by superoxide dismutase (SOD) and xanthine oxidase, respectively. Over the last few years much work has focused on the role of nitric oxide in human parturition. The aim of this study was to determine whether the onset of human parturition is associated with a change in the expression of copper/zinc superoxide dismutase (Cu/Zn SOD), manganese superoxide dismutase (Mn SOD) or xanthine oxidase within the uterus. Samples of myometrium, placenta, decidua and fetal membranes were obtained from women before and after the onset of labour at term. Immunocytochemistry was used to localize Cu/Zn SOD, Mn SOD and xanthine oxidase and measure SOD enzyme activity. Cu/Zn and Mn SOD-like immunoreactivity was detected in syncytiotrophoblast cells, villous stromal cells and endothelial cells of blood vessels in the placenta. In the myometrium Cu/Zn and Mn SOD were localized to myocytes and endothelial cells and to some vascular smooth muscle cells. In the fetal membranes we observed staining for Cu/Zn SOD and Mn SOD in the amnion, chorion, extravillous trophoblast and decidua. There was no difference in SOD enzyme activity or staining intensity for SOD between different cell types before and during labour. Xanthine oxidase immunoreactivity was identified in each of the tissues examined and again there was no difference in immunostaining in tissues obtained from women delivered before or after the onset of labour. These results show that the pregnant uterus is capable of both synthesizing and degrading superoxide and suggest that superoxide dismutase and xanthine oxidase may play a role in the maintenance of uterine quiescence during pregnancy, but not in the initiation of parturition.   相似文献

Pre-eclampsia, one of the most significant health problems inhuman pregnancy, complicates 6-7% of all gestations and is theleading cause of fetal growth retardation, infant morbidityand mortality, premature birth and maternal death. Recent researchimplicates free radicals in the pathophysiology of pre-eclampsia.This review covers the biochemistry of nitric oxide (NO) andpossible interactions with other free radicals. Studies in therat show that pregnancy is associated with enhanced productionand responsiveness to NO in both reproductive tissues and bloodvessels. Rats infused with NG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester(L-NAME, a NO synthase inhibitor) have been used as an animalmodel of pre-eclampsia, and the effects of steroid hormoneson blood pressure in this model have been tested. Results suggestthat pre-eclampsia may be a state of NO deficiency. However,in humans there seem to be contradictions regarding the involvementof NO in maternal adaptation to pregnancy. It is suggested thatNO may be one of several systems that act in concert to maintaina symbiotic relationship between mother and fetus.
