In scintigraphy, the detection of scattered photons degrades both visual image analysis and quantitative accuracy. Many methods have been proposed and are still under investigation to cope with scattered photons. The main features of the problem of scattering in radionuclide imaging are presented first, to provide a sound foundation for a critical review of the existing scatter correction techniques. These are described using a classification relating to their aims and principles. Their theoretical potentials are analysed, as well as the difficulties of their practical implementation. OBJECTIVE: Proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS) was used to study medial prefrontal metabolic impairments in schizophrenic patients with the deficit syndrome. METHOD: The subjects were 22 schizophrenic patients categorized as deficit (N=5) or nondeficit (N=17) and 21 healthy subjects. (1)H-MRS was performed for the right and the left medial prefrontal cortex. RESULTS: The patients with the deficit syndrome had significantly lower ratios of N-acetylaspartate to creatine plus phosphocreatine than did the healthy subjects or nondeficit patients. CONCLUSIONS: As N-acetylaspartate levels could reflect neuronal density and/or viability, this finding suggests a neuronal loss in the medial prefrontal cortex of deficit patients.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the postural behaviour of two categories of people: Post-CVA subjects suffering from cerebrovascular accident syndromes and healthy individuals under several levels of anterior–posterior and medial–lateral sinusoidal disturbances (0.1–0.5 Hz). These perturbations were produced from an omnidirectional platform called Isiskate. Afterwards, we have quantified seventy postural parameters, they were combined of linear stabilometric parameters and non-linear time dependent stochastic parameters using stabilogram diffusion analysis and some spectral attributes using power spectral density. The aim of our analysis is to reduce data dimensionality using principal component analysis (PCA). Furthermore, we proposed a new PCA-related criterion named: criterion of contribution in order to evaluate the contribution of every variable in the resulted system structure, and thus to eliminate the redundant postural characteristics. Afterwards, we highlighted some interesting distinctive parameters. The selected parameters were used thereafter in comparison between the studied groups. Finally, we created a classification model using support vector machines to distinguish stroke patients. Our proposed techniques help in understanding the human postural dynamics and facilitate the diagnosis of pathologies related to equilibrium which can be used to improve the rehabilitation services.  相似文献

Purpose of review

This review analyzes recent studies evaluating the diagnostic value of 18F-FDG-PET/CT for the detection of peripheral emboli and secondary infectious foci in patients with infective endocarditis and cardiac device infections.

Recent findings

Detection of extracardiac septic localizations in patients with infective endocarditis and cardiac device infections is crucial, as it may impact the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic management. Recent literature substantiated the clinical usefulness of 18F-FDG-PET/CT in this setting.

Summary

18F-FDG-PET/CT has proven its high diagnostic value for the detection of peripheral emboli in patients with infective endocarditis and cardiac device infections, substantially affecting patients’ outcome and treatment. A multimodal approach, combining the high sensitivity of 18F-FDG-PET/CT with morphological imaging seems promising.

We report the case of ventricular tachycardia (VT) ablation procedure in a patient with history of surgically repaired double-outlet left ventricle. The electrophysiology procedure revealed a re-entry pattern between the right-ventricle to main-pulmonary-artery conduit and the tricuspid annulus. The re-entrant mechanism was most likely promoted by a fibrous remodeling of this area, related to the surgical repair. This case is the first to describe a re-entry mechanism between fixed anatomical barriers in a repaired right ventricle of a double-outlet left ventricle. A pace mapping technique was used to highlight the VT isthmus.  相似文献

In this study, our central focus is to investigate the magnetocaloric characteristics of a La1−xxMnO3 (x = 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3) series prepared by a sol–gel technique published in Prog. Mater. Sci., 93, 2018, 112–232. The crystallographic study revealed that our compounds crystallize in a rhombohedral structure with R3̄c. Ferromagnetic (FM) and paramagnetic (PM) characters were detected from the variation in magnetization as a function of magnetic fields at different temperatures. The second order transition was verified from the Arrott plots (M2vs. (μ0H/M)), where the slopes have a positive value. In order to verify the second order, we traced the variation of magnetization vs. temperature at different magnetic fields for x = 0.2. This revealed a ferromagnetic (FM)–paramagnetic (PM) transition when temperature increases. Relying on the indirect method while using the Maxwell formula, we determined the variation in the entropy (−ΔSM) as a function of temperature for different magnetic fields for the three samples. We note that all the studied systems stand as good candidates for magnetic refrigeration with relative cooling power (RCP) values of around 131.4, 83.38 and 57.26 J kg−1 with magnetic fields below 2 T, respectively. Subsequently, the magnetocaloric effect was investigated by a phenomenological model for x = 0.2. The extracted data confirm that this phenomenological model is appropriate for the prediction of magnetocaloric properties. The study also demonstrated that this La0.80.2MnO3 system exhibits a universal behaviour.

Severe cognitive impairment involving multiple cognitive domains can occur early during the course of multiple sclerosis (MS). We investigated resting state functional connectivity changes in large‐scale brain networks and related structural damage underlying cognitive dysfunction in patients with early MS. Patients with relapsing MS (3–5 years disease duration) were prospectively assigned to two groups based on a standardized neuropsychological evaluation: (1) cognitively impaired group (CI group, n = 15), with abnormal performances in at least 3 tests; (2) cognitively preserved group (CP group, n = 20) with normal performances in all tests. Patients and age‐matched healthy controls underwent a multimodal 3T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) including anatomical T1 and T2 images, diffusion imaging and resting state functional MRI. Structural MRI analysis revealed that CI patients had a higher white matter lesion load compared to CP and a more severe atrophy in gray matter regions highly connected to networks involved in cognition. Functional connectivity measured by integration was increased in CP patients versus controls in attentional networks (ATT), while integration was decreased in CI patients compared to CP both in the default mode network (DMN) and ATT. An anatomofunctional study within the DMN revealed that functional connectivity was mostly altered between the medial prefrontal cortex (MPFC) and the posterior cingulate cortex (PCC) in CI patients compared to CP and controls. In a multilinear regression model, functional correlation between MPFC and PCC was best predicted by PCC atrophy. Disconnection in the DMN and ATT networks may deprive the brain of compensatory mechanisms required to face widespread structural damage. Aim/Hypothesis: To study the prevalence of hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia and the relationship between metabolic control, pubertal status and plasma lipoprotein levels in children with diabetes mellitus.
Subjects and methods: A cross‐sectional study was conducted on 126 subjects with type I diabetes followed at our institution. There were 57 boys and 69 girls (mean age: 13.4±3.4 yr; mean duration of diabetes: 7.3±2.1 yr), on whom fasting lipoprotein levels and pubertal status were determined. Mean glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) of the preceeding year was used in the analysis. Cholesterol (CT) and triglyceride (TG) levels were transformed into standard deviations (SD) using age dependent normal values.
Results: 1) CT levels of DM children (mean level: +0.9±1.2 SD) are higher for both sexes and at each age. Sixteen percent of the cases had CT level ≥2 SD. Within the range of the HbA1c observed (9.1±1.2%), CT levels are not correlated with the degree of metabolic control. In contrast to non‐diabetic children, CT levels of the diabetic children did not vary throughout pubertal stages. CT levels correlated highly with apolipoprotein B (r=0.79; p<0.00001 and r2=82%, in univariate and multivariate analysis, respectively. 2) Plasma TG levels are comparable in the diabetic children (mean level: ?0.11±0.9 SD) and non‐diabetic children. Only 5% of the diabetic children have a TG level ≥2 SD. The TG levels are significantly, but weakly, positively correlated with duration of diabetes and the degree of metabolic control (r2=12% and 16%, respectively, p<0.0001 for both).
Conclusions: Plasma CT levels of type I diabetic children are increased in comparison to non‐diabetic children and do not follow the usual decreasing pattern during puberty.  相似文献
