Background:
Education about caring for dying patients could be effective in changing nursing students’ attitude toward caring for dying patients.Aim:
The aim of the present study was to examine the nursing students’ attitude toward caring for dying patients and effects of education on their attitude.Materials and Methods:
The present study enjoys a quasi-experimental method with using one-group pre-test/post-test design conducted in Bam in southeast of Iran. The attitude of nursing students was measured using Frommelt Attitude Toward Care of the Dying (FATCOD) scale before and after an educational intervention. Data were analyzed using non-parametric tests in Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) 18 software.Results:
Of 32 students, 30 participated in this study (response rate of 94%). Only 20% of the students reported previous experience of dying patients in their clinical courses. Students showed moderately negative to neutral attitudes toward caring for dying patients. Education has improved students’ attitude significantly (mean score of FATCOD before study were 3.5 ± 0.43 and after intervention were 4.7 ± 0.33) (P < 0.001).Conclusion:
Educational programs about death and caring for dying patients should be added to undergraduate nursing curricula. Further research recommended examining nursing students’ knowledge about caring for dying patients and the effect of education on their knowledge. 相似文献2.

- Diabetic patients are frequently affected by coronary artery disease (CAD) and are at increased risk of CAD‐related adverse events, even after drug‐eluting stent (DES) implantation. If currently available DES have similar safety and efficacy in diabetic and nondiabetic patients is still debated.
- This prospective, multicenter registry showed similar 3‐year outcome in patients undergoing different DES implantation, although diabetic patients, especially those requiring insulin treatment, had significantly higher risk of adverse events than nondiabetic patients.
- Specific efforts to improve the performance of DES in diabetic patients are mandatory to adequately address the unsolved issue of diabetic patients affected by CAD.

Triterpenoid glycosides are molecules widely distributed in plants and have shown a wide range of biological activities against various diseases. This paper describes the qualitative and quantitative analysis of triterpenoid glycoside (saponins) using a two-stage mass spectrometry approach in five samples of Fagonia indica collected from various parts of the country. In the first stage, triterpenoid glycosides were identified using liquid chromatography high-resolution mass spectrometry using UHPLC-QTOF-MS system. In the second stage, compounds were quantified using a multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) approach using an UHPLC-QQQ-MS system. Fagonia indica has shown a wide range of biological activities and found to be rich in saponin or triterpenoid glycoside constituents. A total of thirteen triterpenoid saponins were identified based on high-resolution analysis, MS/MS and database comparison, while six of them were simultaneously quantified using the multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) approach. The results indicate that the samples share a similar UHPLC pattern, however, the amount of these saponins in samples varies greatly. Compound 4i.e. nayabin D was the major constituent (1.4–3.8 μg g−1) among the six analyzed compounds. The results demonstrated that the developed multi-compound determination in combination with a fingerprint analysis method is rapid, accurate, precise and sensitive and can be utilized for quality control and high-throughput quantification of various saponins in Fagonia indica may be extended to other plant species.Development of a rapid, accurate, precise, and effective method for the analysis and quantification of saponins in crude extracts from Fagonia indica. 相似文献

A series of Co(ii), Zn(ii), and Cd(ii) complexes supported by 1-(3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)-N-((3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)-N-(furan-2-ylmethyl)methanamine (LA) and N,N-bis((3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)-4-isopropylaniline (LB) were synthesized. The direct chelation of CoCl2·6H2O, ZnCl2, and CdBr2·4H2O by the ligands produced [LnMX2] (Ln = LA or LB; M = Zn or Co, with X = Cl; M = Cd, with X = Br) complexes in high yields. Structural studies revealed that [LBCoCl2] and [LBZnCl2] adopted distorted tetrahedral geometries, as LB coordinated the metal centers in a bidentate fashion, while LA coordinated the metal centers in a tridentate fashion through the nitrogen atoms of the pyrazole and amine moieties, so that [LACoCl2] and [LAZnCl2] exhibited trigonal bipyramidal geometries and [LACdBr2] a square pyramidal geometry. [LBCdBr2] has two Cd-containing structures per unit cell, whereby one Cd center adopted a distorted tetrahedral geometry and the other exhibited square bipyramidal geometry. The in situ-generated alkyl derivatives of the synthesized complexes were assessed in the ring-opening polymerization of rac-lactide. Heterotactic polylactides (PLAs) were furnished with all complexes. The [LBZnCl2]/MeLi system produced PLA with a superior heterotactic bias (Pr up to 0.94) at −25 °C. To determine if A1 adenosine receptors mediate breast tumorigenesis, we evaluated A1 receptor expression in human tumor cell lines and human primary breast tumor tissues using both quantitative RT-PCR and Western blot analysis. A1 receptor mRNA expression is upregulated in all breast tumor cell lines examined (n=7) compared to normal mammary epithelial cells/cell lines (n=3) as determined by quantitative RT-PCR analysis. Western blot analysis indicates that protein expression of A1 adenosine receptor is higher in 15 (62.5%) of 24 human primary breast tumor tissues than in matched normal breast tissue. To explore its cellular function, the A1 adenosine receptor was depleted by small interfering RNA (siRNA) in MDA-MB-468 human breast tumor cells. Depletion of A1 receptors in MDA-MB-468 breast tumor cells attenuated both cell growth and cell proliferation as measured by cell number counts and [(14)C]-thymidine incorporation, respectively. Cell cycle analysis indicated that depletion of A1 receptors by siRNA impairs G(1) checkpoint, leading to marked accumulation of cells in G(2)/M phase, in agreement with the inhibitory effect on cell proliferation. Further supporting this finding, synchronization studies of Hela cells in various cell cycle phases suggest that A1 receptor expression is suppressed in G(2)/M cells and depletion of A1 receptor expression by siRNA produced differential expression of several key cell cycle regulators, i.e., accumulation of the cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor p27 with concomitant reduction of CDK4 and cyclin E proteins. In addition to the impact on cell cycle progression, depletion of A1 receptors by siRNA results in substantial cell death and apoptosis as determined by FACS analysis and annexin V staining method. Treatment of plantar warts is often difficult and may be painful, often employing destructive treatment modalities. We report the successful treatment of a patient with a large plantar wart using Imiquimod 5% cream under occlusion with a 40% salicylic acid pad. This combination treatment modality likely allows successful delivery of Imiquimod through the thick skin on the plantar surface. Once penetrated, an anti-viral state is created by upregulating specific cytokines to eradicate the human papilloma virus (HPV). 相似文献
