A case of an odontogenic tumor which invaded the intracranial space from the mandible is reported. Judging from the radiographic images it was similar to a malignant tumor. The patient died 17 years after the first visit. According to the final pathological diagnosis, it was malignant odontogenic mixed tumor of low grade which did not belong to any of the WHO classification.  相似文献

1. The effects of guanethidine and tachykinins on nicotine- and electrical stimulation-induced cholinoceptor responses were studied in isolated urinary bladder from the guinea-pig. 2. Acetylcholine release and the contractile response stimulated by nicotine were partially reduced by a sympathetic nerve blocker, guanethidine. Neurokinin A (but not substance P methyl ester or senktide) enhanced both acetylcholine release and contraction by nicotine in the presence of guanethidine. 3. Frequency-contraction curves (1 to 50 Hz) for electrical field stimulation (EFS) were partially reduced by atropine (1 microM), and after desensitization to alpha,beta-methylene adenosine 5'-triphosphate, the atropine-resistant contraction to EFS was completely abolished. Guanethidine, the tachykinin antagonist [D-Arg1, D-Pro2, Trp7,9, Leu11]-substance P and application of neurokinin A or substance P did not change the contractile response to EFS. Preganglionic nerve stimulation (5 Hz and 20 Hz) also evoked a similar response to EFS and was not influenced at all by guanethidine or neurokinin A. 4. We conclude that the ability of nicotine to release acetylcholine is enhanced both by endogenous tachykinins (probably released from sympathetic nerves) and by exogenously applied tachykinins as a result of interaction with NK2 receptors in the urinary bladder.  相似文献

An avulsion fracture of the tibial tubercle is a common injury in traffic accident. If the fracture is closed, then a comparatively good prognosis can be expected through reinforcement of the bone via osteosynthesis and the use of artificial ligaments. In this case, an open wound was observed in the tibial tubercle, and the wound was so polluted that the healing process was significantly delayed. It was therefore difficult to provide simultaneous surgical treatment and so three operations were required to perform the reconstruction of the extensor mechanism. The reconstruction of extensor mechanism and the frame fixation between the patella and tibia was performed. Six months after the injury, the patient was able to walk without aid, had a range of movement from 5°to 130°, and did not show any indications of ADL disorder. Using this method of frame fixation between the patella and tibia proved to be an effective technique for the reconstruction of the open knee extension mechanism injury.  相似文献

Angiogenesis is an independent prognostic indicator in breast cancer. In this report, the relationship between expression of vascular endothclial growth factor (VEGF; a selective mitogen for endothelial cells) and the microvessel density was examined in 103 primary breast cancers. The expression of VEGF was evaluated by immunocytochemical staining using anti-VEGF antibody. The microvessel density, which was determined by immunostaining for factor VIII antigen, in VEGF-rich tumors was clearly higher than that in VEGF-poor tumors ( P <0.01). There was a good correlation between VEGF expression and the increment of microvessel density. Furthermore, postoperative survey demonstrated that the relapse-free survival rate of VEGF-rich tumors was significantly worse than that of VEGF-poor tumors. It was suggested that the expression of VEGF is closely associated with the promotion of angiogenesis and with early relapse in primary breast cancer.  相似文献

In order to determine predictive factors of early seizures (ES) after acute stroke and to estimate prognosis, we retrospectively examined clinical data of 1,743 consecutive patients with acute ischemic stroke. The subjects were divided into two groups; an ES group (19 patients) and a non-ES group (1,724 patients). Multivariate statistical analysis revealed that the NIH-Stroke Scale score on admission (/10, OR, 1.1: 95% CI 1.04 to 1.13) and positive past history of cerebrovascular disease or brain injury (OR, 3.85: 95% CI 1.49 to 9.95) are significant factors to predict ES. There was no significant difference in the outcome between the two groups. A recurrence of seizures, after follow up for 4 to 40 months, was observed only in one patient with a history of ES.  相似文献

In the presence of propranolol tracheal strips from guinea-pigs were markedly contracted by norepinephrine and clonidine but only slightly by phenylephrine. The contractile responses to clonidine and norepinephrine were inhibited by yohimbine but not by prazosin. The specific binding of [3H]p-aminoclonidine to the microsomal fractions from guinea-pig tracheal muscle was much greater than that of [125I]BE2254. These results indicate that alpha 2-adrenoceptors are the predominant subtype of alpha-adrenoceptor in the guinea-pig trachea. The response to norepinephrine was abolished by cyclooxygenase inhibitors, suggesting the release of excitatory prostaglandins by norepinephrine. These results raise the possibility that norepinephrine interacts with alpha 2-adrenoceptors and releases prostaglandins to contract tracheal muscle.  相似文献

The biochemical activity of cepharanthine and the possible mechanism by which it reverses the resistance to doxorubicin in P388 leukemia cells were examined in vitro. The microfluorometric analysis of the cellular level of doxorubicin in drug-resistant cells showed that cepharanthine markedly enhanced the sensitivity of doxorubicin against resistant cells in the cellular level. Cepharanthine also enhanced the inhibitory effect of doxorubicin on the incorporation of thymidine into DNA in resistant cells. The analysis of DNA histogram obtained by flow cytometry showed that doxorubicin exerted its growth-inhibitory effect by blocking the cell cycle at the G2 phase in P388 cells. At higher concentrations, doxorubicin prolonged the S phase and inhibited cell cycle progression to the G2/M phase in cells. The treatment with cepharanthine potentiated these blocking effects induced by doxorubicin in cells. It seems that the modifications of the biological effect of doxorubicin by cepharanthine are due to the change of their ability to induce DNA damage in cells.  相似文献

We presented here two patients with hemorrhagic infarction occurred during subacute phase of brain embolism. The patients were 71-year-old and 73-year-old men who suffered from brain infarction of the left posterior cerebral artery and right middle cerebral artery territory, respectively. Both of them were diagnosed as having cryptogenic stroke and patent foramen ovale. After transferred to rehabilitation hospitals taking aspirin for a secondary prevention of stroke, they developed hemorrhagic infarction at day 17 and day 19, respectively. Their blood pressure remained within normal range throughout acute and subacute phase. Although most of hemorrhagic infarction occurs within 24 hours of stroke onset, some patients develop symptomatic hemorrhagic infarction even after 10 days. We need to be careful about late-onset hemorrhagic infarction, because many patients are now transferred early to rehabilitation hospitals to facilitate dedicated systematic rehabilitation.  相似文献

We studied mechanism to induce scoliosis in Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) by use of X-ray computed tomography (CT) of paraspinal muscles. CT examination of paraspinal muscles was performed on 15 DMD patients at the following six levels; 1. Th3 vertebrae (upper thoracic spine level) 2. Th6 vertebrate (middle thoracic spine level) 3. Th10 vertebrae (lower thoracic spine level) 4. L1 vertebrae (upper lumbar spine level) 5. L3 vertebrae (middle lumbar spine level) 6. L5 vertebrae (lower lumbar spine level). We evaluated the degeneration of paraspinal muscle by a decrease in radio-density of the muscle which indicates infiltration of fatty tissue. The degeneration of the lateral portion of paraspinal muscle was more marked than that of the medial portion. The muscle was most severely affected at the middle lumbar spine level, showing a tendency to increase degeneration at the lower level of the spine. In cases showing laterality of the degeneration of paraspinal muscle, the less affected muscle on CT was located at the convex site of scoliosis. We speculate that the scoliosis occurs when DMD patients have asymmetrical paraspinal muscle degeneration, leading them to take compensatory posture.  相似文献
