Background We previously found that glomerular epithelial cells play an important role in the formation of adhesive lesions. Glomerular
sclerotic lesions develop after the inital adhesive lesions.
Methods Two series of experiments were done with spontaneously diabetic WBN/Kob rats. These rats develop segmental glomerular sclerotic
lesions with aging. The first series of experiments was intended to clarify the kinetics of glomerular cells on progressive
glomerular damage in these rats. The second series of experiments was designed to study the relationship between proliferation
(judged by % bromodeoxyuridine-positive cells) of glomerlar epithelial cells and sclerotic lesions with adhesions.
Results In the first series, rats having increased proteinuria showed segmental glomerular sclerotic lesions with adhesions. At the
same time, increased labeling indices of tuft cells and epithelial cells of Bowman's capsule were observed. In the second
series, no significant increase in the labeling indices of tuft cells with sclerotic lesions was observed, compared to tuft
cells without sclerotic lesions. In sclerotic lesions with adhesion, bromodeoxyurdine-positive cells were observed that were
not distinguishable as podocytes or epithelial cells of Bowman's capsule. The highest labelling index was noted in the epithelial
cells of Bowman's capsules with sclerosis.
Conclusion This study shows that the proliferation of glomerular epithelial cells (mainly epithelial cells of Bowman's capsule) occurs

OBJECTIVE: To clarify the position of on-pump beating coronary artery bypass (CAB) and to define preoperative indicators of intentional conversion to the procedure in the era of advancement of off-pump CAB (OPCAB), we assessed on-pump beating CAB performed after the introduction of OPCAB. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: We assessed 130 patients who underwent single CAB [117 (90%) with OPCAB and 13 (10%) with on-pump beating CAB] between August 1999 (when OPCAB was selected as the first-line surgical procedure) and December 2004. RESULTS: No significant differences were seen between the groups in the number of coronary lesions or the prevalence of left main trunk (LMT) lesion. Reduced left cardiac function, cardiac dilatation, and mitral regurgitation (MR) were more remarkable in the on-pump beating CAB group. Preoperative ischemic condition was generally unstable in the both groups. A conversion to on-pump beating CAB occurred at anastomosis for the left anterior descending (LAD) branch in 61% and for the left circumflex (LCX) branch in 15%. LAD patients had more severe left cardiac dysfunction and cardiac dilatation than LCX patients. CONCLUSION: To perform safe and reliable CAB surgery, cardiovascular surgeons should define preoperative indicators of difficult OPCAB and convert OPCAB to on-pump beating CAB intentionally without hesitation when unstable hemodynamics is detected. 相似文献

Epileptic seizure of El mouse initiates at the parietal cortex: depth EEG observation in freely moving condition using buffer amplifier 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The initiation site of seizure discharges and the relationship between behavioral manifestations and electroencephalography were investigated in the El mouse, a hereditary epilepsy model. The chronic depth electrodes were implanted stereotaxically into the frontal cortex, parietal cortex, temporal cortex, hippocampus, striatum, amygdaloid complex, non-specific nuclei of thalamus and substantia nigra. Electrical activities were recorded in freely moving condition with use of the buffer amplifier devised in the laboratory and behaviors were monitored simultaneously. Seizure spike discharges started in the parietal cortex and spread out into other brain areas. When the hippocampus was involved, the tonic convulsion occurred behaviorally. The paper describes the first direct evidence of the initiation and propagation of seizure discharges in the brain of El mouse. 相似文献

The purpose of this study was to compare the MR characteristics of renal cell carcinomas against histologic findings and to assess the correlations among signal intensity, tumor enhancement, and pathologic findings. Fifty-four patients (56 lesions) were examined by MR imaging and then underwent partial or radical nephrectomy. The pathologic diagnosis of all lesions was renal cell carcinoma. All MR examinations were performed as dynamic studies using the same 1.5-T scanner. MR characteristics were compared against pathologic findings after resection, and the correlations among signal intensity, tumor enhancement, and pathologic findings were then assessed. A significant correlation was observed between tumor grade and tumor enhancement, with G3 lesions tending to show little enhancement. Regardless of the histologic classification, G3 tumors were found to contain highly heterotypic cancer cells and very few vessels by histopathologic examination. No significant correlations were noted between the other MR characteristics and pathologic findings. Renal cell carcinomas showing little enhancement tend to be highly malignant lesions based on the pathologic findings. Special consideration is required for these tumors with regard to the selection of surgical intervention and follow-up observation. 相似文献

Chemical shift MRI is widely used for identifying adenomas, but it is not a perfect method. We determined whether combined dynamic MRI methods can lead to improved diagnostic accuracy. Fifty-seven adrenal masses were examined by chemical shift and dynamic MR imaging using 2 MR systems. The masses included 38 adenomas and 19 non-adenomas. In chemical shift MRI studies, the signal intensity index (SI) was calculated, and the lesions classified into 5 types in the dynamic MRI studies. Of the 38 adenomas studied, 37 had an SI greater than 0. In the dynamic MRI, 34 of 38 adenomas showed a benign pattern (type 1). If the SI for the adenomas in the chemical shift MRI was considered to be greater than 0, the positive predictive value was 0.9, and the negative predictive value was 0.94 and kappa = 0.79. If type 1 was considered to indicate adenomas in the dynamic MRI, the corresponding values were 0.94, 0.81 and kappa = 0.77 respectively. The results obtained when the 2 methods were combined were 1, 0.95 and kappa = 0.96 respectively. The chemical shift MRI was found to be useful for identifying adenomas in most cases. If the adrenal mass had a low SI (0 < SI < 5), dynamic MRI was also found to be helpful for making a differential diagnosis. 相似文献

To elucidate the mechanism that produces enormous molecular diversity in troponin T (TnT) of fast skeletal muscle, we determined the 5-half genomic sequence of the chicken fast muscle TnT gene. The sequence of ca. 16 kb included seven exons (exons 1, 2, 3, 4, w, 5, and 6), which have been reported previously and presumed by sequencing TnT cDNAs. Additionally we found six 15 nt and one 18 nt sequences in the region between exons 5 and 6 (i.e. the exon x region). They were encompassed by consensus splice donor and acceptor sites and preceded by putative branch sites, and designated herein as exons xa to xg. Our result shows that the sequence derived from exons x1, x2, and x3, the exons presumed previously by cDNA sequencing, is actually encoded by the seven exons xa to xg, establishing the precise gene structure in the exon x region. Based on our data, together with that on the 3-half genomic sequence of the quail fast muscle TnT gene, we conclude that the avian fast skeletal muscle TnT gene includes 27 exons, 16 of which are alternatively spliced. 相似文献

A polymorphism in high-affinity receptor of TNF (TNFR2) gene, Met196Arg, was reported to be associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in Japanese, whereas the association could not be found in Europeans at all and this represents an apparent discrepancy. The association, then, should be tested in other populations to clarify the possible involvement, if any, of the TNFR2 polymorphism in SLE or other related autoimmune diseases. The purposes of this study were to examine the TNFR2 polymorphism in Japanese patients with SLE and to investigate its association with other autoimmune diseases accompanied by vasculitis, mixed connective tissue disease, Buerger's disease, and Takayasu's arteritis. We found no association at all between the TNFR2 polymorphism and any autoimmune diseases including SLE in Japanese. 相似文献
