The functional organization of the sensory cortex is constructed to process sensory information based on experience and learning. Importantly, it is plastic so that it can quickly adapt to environmental changes. Because the thalamus gates all ascending information, it is critical to understand how the thalamocortical system contributes to the plasticity of the sensory cortex. We show here that the neuronal receptive field (RF) in the auditory cortex faithfully tends toward the RF of the electrically stimulated auditory thalamic neurons. We characterized the RF of auditory neurons by measuring the best frequency, minimum threshold, bandwidth, RF area, and averaged response magnitude. All these parameters of the cortical RF showed robust changes toward the values of the parameters of the stimulated thalamic neuron following focal thalamic stimulation. Our data suggest that the thalamocortical system possesses intrinsic mechanisms that underlie the input specificity of learning-induced or experience-dependent cortical plasticity.  相似文献

Many risk factors have been identified for suicide behavior and although a role for cytokines has been suggested in specific psychiatric conditions and suicide behavior, this role is not well-defined. Since some polymorphisms can alter the expression of cytokines, in this study we attempted to assess the role of TGF-β1 codon 10 (T/C) polymorphisms (rs1982073) in suicide behavior. A total of 145 individuals with suicide behavior as well as 200 control participants (without any history of suicide behavior) were included in the study. TGF-β1 codon 10 polymorphism was determined using allele-specific oligonucleotide polymerase chain reaction. Our results demonstrated that the TGF-β1 codon 10 T/T genotype was significantly more prevalent in individuals with suicide behavior (41.7%), in comparison with the controls (27%). The findings of this study demonstrated an association between TGF-β1 (codon 10) T/C polymorphisms and suicide behavior. ? 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Background

Tramadol is an opioid, synthetic analog of codeine and has been used for the treatment of acute or chronic pain may be abused. In this work, a developed Dispersive liquid liquid microextraction (DLLME) as binary solvents-based dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (BS-DLLME) combined with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with fluorescence detection (FD) was employed for determination of tramadol in the urine samples. This procedure involves the use of an appropriate mixture of binary extraction solvents (70 μL CHCl3 and 30 μL ethyl acetate) and disperser solvent (600 μL acetone) for the formation of cloudy solution in 5 ml urine sample comprising tramadol and NaCl (7.5%, w/v). After centrifuging, the small droplets of extraction solvents were precipitated. In the final step, the HPLC with fluorescence detection was used for determination of tramadol in the precipitated phase.

Results

Various factors on the efficiency of the proposed procedure were investigated and optimized. The detection limit (S/N = 3) and quantification limit (S/N = 10) were found 0.2 and 0.9 μg/L, respectively. The relative standard deviations (RSD) for the extraction of 30 μg L of tramadol was found 4.1% (n = 6). The relative recoveries of tramadol from urine samples at spiking levels of 10, 30 and 60 μg/L were in the range of 95.6 – 99.6%.

Conclusions

Compared with other methods, this method provides good figures of merit such as good repeatability, high extraction efficiency, short analysis time, simple procedure and can be used as microextraction technique for routine analysis in clinical laboratories.  相似文献

In this study, it was determined whether the IL-10 ?1082, IFN-γ +874, and TNF-α ?308 polymorphisms were associated with suicidal behavior. One hundred forty five patients with suicidal behavior and 160 normal individuals were genotyped for IL-10 ?1082, IFN-γ +874, and TNF-α ?308 polymorphisms using ASO-PCR method. TNF-α ?308 G/G genotype has been increased in males with completed suicide behavior versus control group (p value = 0.017). IL-10 ?1082 A/A genotype is higher in both male and female suicide completed groups (p value = 0.017). IFN-γ (+874) A/A genotype was significantly higher in males with completed suicide behavior versus normal male control (p value = 0.027). It can be concluded that IL-10, IFN-γ, and TNF-α polymorphisms may play a role in suicidal behavior.  相似文献
