Abstract: Our purpose is to describe the appearance of breast ductal enhancement found on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) after breast ductal lavage (DL). We describe a novel etiology of enhancement in a ductal pattern on postcontrast MRI of the breast. Knowledge of the potential for breast MRI enhancement subsequent to DL, which can mimic the appearance of a pathologic lesion, is critical to the care of patients who undergo breast MRI and DL or other intraductal cannulation procedures. 相似文献

Purpose: This study investigates the feasibility of non-invasively determining thermal diffusivity (α) and the Pennes perfusion parameter (w) from pre-clinical and clinical magnetic resonance-guided focussed ultrasound (MRgFUS) temperature data.Materials and methods: Pre-clinical MRgFUS experiments were performed in rabbit muscle (N?=?3, 28 sonications) using three-dimensional MR thermometry. Eight sonications were made in a clinical QA phantom with two-dimensional thermometry. Retrospective property determination was performed on clinical uterine fibroid (N?=?8, 9 sonications) and desmoid tumour (N?=?4, 7 sonications) data. The property determination method fits an analytical solution to MRgFUS temperatures in the coronal MR plane, including all temperatures acquired during heating and one cooling image. When possible, additional cooling data were acquired for property determination.Results: Rabbit α and w from Heating Data (α?=?0.164?mm2s?1, w?=?7.9 kg?m?3?s?1) and Heating and Cooling Data (α?=?0.146?mm2s?1, w?=?3.3 kg?m?3?s?1) were within the range of gold-standard invasive measurements, with >50% reduction in variability by including cooling data. QA phantom property determination with cooling data yielded properties within 3% of expected values (α?=?0.144?mm2s?1, w?=?0.0 kg?m?3?s?1), a difference that was not statistically significant (p?=?0.053). Uterine fibroid (Heating Data: α?=?0.212?mm2s?1, w?=?11.0 kg?m?3?s?1) and desmoid tumour (Heating &; Cooling Data: α?=?0.245?mm2s?1, w?=?4.7 kg?m?3?s?1) properties are feasible but lack independent verification.Conclusions: Thermal diffusivity and the Pennes perfusion parameter can be obtained from in vivo data and with clinical MRgFUS protocols. Property values are consistently improved by including cooling data. The utility of this property determination method will increase as clinical protocols implement improved temperature imaging. 相似文献

ObjectiveThe current study tested in two online experiments whether manipulating normative beliefs about cancer screening uptake increases intention to attend colorectal screening among previously disinclined individuals.Methods2461 men and women from an Internet panel (Experiment 1 N = 1032; Experiment 2, N = 1423) who initially stated that they did not intend to take up screening were asked to guess how many men and women they believe to get screened for colorectal cancer. Across participants, we varied the presence/absence of feedback on the participant’s estimate, as well as the stated proportion of men and women doing the screening test.ResultsAcross the two experiments, we found that receiving one of the experimental messages stating that uptake is higher than estimated significantly increased the proportion of disinclined men and women becoming intenders. While, we found a positive relationship between the communicated uptake and screening intentions, we did not find evidence that providing feedback on the estimate has an added benefit.ConclusionScreening intention can be effectively manipulated through a high uptake message.Practice implicationsCommunication of high screening uptake is an easy and effective way to motivate disinclined individuals to engage in colorectal cancer screening. 相似文献

This study was aimed to investigate the effects of social versus non-social stimuli on postural responses in 21 boys with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) (mean age of 11.6?±?1.5) compared with 30 typically developing (TD) boys (mean age of 11.7?±?1.8). Postural control of children was examined while they were standing on a force plate and viewing images of an object, male face, or female face in sequence. Each image was shown in two trials and each trial lasted for 20 s. Results indicated a significant interaction between group and task (p?<?0.05), meaning that children with ASD but not TD children showed an increased postural sway during face tasks than during object task. Furthermore children with higher autism severity compared to those with lower severity showed an increased change in response to social stimuli (p?<?0.01). It seems that the postural control of children with ASD was more affected by the social stimuli than TD children. 相似文献

Movements of transmembrane segments (TMs) 3 and 6 play a key role in activation of G protein-coupled receptors. However, the underlying molecular processes that govern these movements, and accordingly control receptor activation, remain unclear. To elucidate the importance of the conserved aspartic acid (Asp-130) in the Asp-Arg-Tyr motif of the beta2 adrenergic receptor (beta2AR), we mutated this residue to asparagine (D130N) to mimic its protonated state, and to alanine (D130A) to fully remove the functionality of the side chain. Both mutants displayed evidence of constitutive receptor activation. In COS-7 cells expressing either D130N or D130A, basal levels of cAMP accumulation were clearly elevated compared with cells expressing the wild-type beta2AR. Incubation of COS-7 cell membranes or purified receptor at 37 degrees C revealed also a marked structural instability of both mutant receptors, suggesting that stabilizing intramolecular constraints had been disrupted. Moreover, we obtained evidence for a conformational rearrangement by mutation of Asp-130. In D130N, a cysteine in TM 6, Cys-285, which is not accessible in the wild-type beta2AR, became accessible to methanethiosulfonate ethylammonium, a charged, sulfhydryl-reactive reagent. This is consistent with a counterclockwise rotation or tilting of TM 6 and provides for the first time structural evidence linking charge-neutralizing mutations of the aspartic acid in the DRY motif to the overall conformational state of the receptor. We propose that protonation of the aspartic acid leads to release of constraining intramolecular interactions, resulting in movements of TM 6 and, thus, conversion of the receptor to the active state. 相似文献

Postural control is a fundamental building block of each child's daily activities. The aim of this study was to compare patterns of postural sway in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) with typically developing children (TD). We recruited 21 schoolchildren diagnosed with ASD aged 9–14 and 30 TD pupils aged 8–15. Postural sway parameters in composite, anteroposterior and mediolateral axis were reported. Furthermore we examined the impact of age and characteristics of autism on postural sway. Children with ASD exhibited higher amount of sway in anteroposterior range (p < 0.001), mediolateral range (p = 0.002), root mean square (p = 0.001), mean velocity (p = 0.03), and sway area (p = 0.007) compared with their TD peers. Children with ASD showed higher instability in mediolateral than anteroposterior axis though TD children demonstrated higher sway scores in anteroposterior than mediolateral direction. The rate of autism symptom severity significantly affected the postural sway in children with ASD (p < 0.05). In conclusion, patterns of postural control seem to be different in children with ASD compared with TD counterparts. This could be partially due to clinical features were underlying in ASD. 相似文献
