Structural basis for the regulation of the neuronal sensitivity

Using light and electron microscopy structural bases for intracellular, extracellular and integrative regulation of synaptic efficiency and neuron sensitivity were established in rat sensomotor cortex. Intracellular regulation is realized basically through modulation of postsynaptic components of the synapse, while extracellular one is provided by synaptic endings of "recurrent" axons on GABA-ergic relay and interneurons. Integrative regulation is realized by means of concentration of similar axonal terminals in restricted cortical area and arrangement of "neuromediatory" pool.     

Ultrastructural markers of tissue endometrial receptivity in patients with recurrent implantation failure

Abstract

The scanning electron microscopy of the endometrial surface epithelium during the ‘implantation window’ was performed in 119 patients with uterine factor of infertility or recurrent miscarriage due to endometrial hypoplasia. Ultramorphological picture of the surface endometrial epithelium was characterized by aplasia and hypoplasia of pinopodes (67.39%), dense cell – cell contacts (69.53%), heteromorphy of secretory cells (15.22%) in combination with atypia of microenvironment cells (50%) in patients with infertility. The asynchronous development of pinopodes (46.67%) and the absence of intercellular contacts separation during the ‘implantation window’ (84.44%) was observed in patients with recurrent miscarriage. The revealed disturbance determines the mechanisms of the blastocyst adhesion violation and trophoblast invasion in the different stages of implantation in patients with uterine factor of infertility and recurrent miscarriage.     

Detection of type 2 herpes simplex virus in cells of spermatogenic epithelium in infected testes of guinea pigs

We developed a model of herpetic orchitis in guinea pigs. Intratesticular inoculation of type 2 herpes simplex virus suspension results in infection of the testicular spermatocytes and spermatides. The development of resistance in different inbred strains of mice to infection with Nematospiroides dubius

Infection by the intestinal nematode parasite Nematospiroides dubius was studied in seven different inbred mouse strains. Although there was some minor variation in the susceptibility of the different strains to a primary infection there were marked differences in their ability to develop resistance to infection following repeated exposure to infective larvae. The strains of mice which developed the best resistance also expelled adult worms arising from the previous infections. The adult worms resulting from a primary infection were slowly eliminated in two inbred strains studied whereas no loss occurred from outbred LACA mice. Although males and females of two strains, C3H/HeJ and CBA/H were equally susceptible to a primary infection, the females developed better resistance than the male mice following two oral administrations of third stage larvae. Infected mice of every strain and both sexes contained high levels of IgG1 in the serum.     

Pesticide soil pollution on the territory of the Russian Federation as a potential hazard for public health

Pesticides belong to persistent pollutants and pose a potential danger to people's health. The conditions of storing and utilizing the wastes do not meet, in many cases, the sanitary-and-hygienic requirements. The control over residual pesticides in foodstuffs and in the environment is indicative, in an number of cases, of that they exceed the admissible content values. The methodical basis does not ensure, to the full extent, a quantitative analysis of pesticides. An evaluation of risk within the system of social-and-hygienic monitoring must comprise a potential danger of pesticides.
