The Indian population can be divided broadly into Dravidians and the Aryans. In this report, we have attempted to analyze the HLA genetic profile of 400 native North Indian Hindus of Aryan descent. The gene frequencies of a majority of class I and II antigens show similarity to the Caucasoid population. An interesting finding was a complete lack of antigen B14 while B16 and B41 occurred with the least frequency. Haplotype A10, B8 with significant positive linkage disequilibrium as well as showing the highest incidence is characteristic of North Indians. 相似文献

Histamine accumulated in the ligated vagus nerve of the rat, both above and below the ligature; maximum accumulation was after 4 h. The finding is suggestive of axonal flow. Further evidence for histamine in peripheral nerves was obtained in experiments showing that the guinea-pig gut wall could be labelled with [3H]histamine. The experiments were carried out with isolated strips of stomach wall and taenia coli. Electrical stimulation released [3H]histamine from these specimens. The release could be blocked by Ca2+-free medium or by tetrodotoxin. The release was unaffected by vagal denervation or chemical sympathectomy (6-hydroxydopamine) but prevented by reserpinization. Gastrin-17 and cholecystokinin-39 released radioactivity by a tetrodotoxin-sensitive mechanism. The possible existence of a gastrin/cholecystokinin-sensitive neuronal pool of histamine in the gut wall offers a new perspective on the postulated role of histamine as a physiological stimulant of gastric acid secretion and might explain why H2-receptor antagonists block gastrin-stimulated acid secretion. 相似文献

Hypertension produces pathophysiological changes that are often responsible for the mortality associated with the disease. However, it is unclear whether normalizing blood pressure (BP) with conventional therapy is effective in reversing the pathophysiological damage. The duration and initiation of treatment, site of administration, and agent used all appear to influence the reversal of the pathophysiological alterations associated with hypertension. We have previously established that retrovirally mediated delivery of angiotensin II type 1 receptor antisense (AT1R-AS) attenuates the development of high BP in the spontaneously hypertensive (SH) rat model of human essential hypertension. Our objective was to determine whether this attenuation of high BP is associated with prevention of other pathophysiological changes induced by the hypertensive state. Intracardiac delivery of AT1R-AS in neonates prevented the development of hypertension in SH rats for at least 120 days. Contractile experiments demonstrated an impaired endothelium-dependent vascular relaxation (acetylcholine) and an enhanced contractile response to vasoactive agents (phenylephrine and KCl) in the SH rat renal vasculature. In addition, the voltage-dependent K+ current density, which is believed to contribute to smooth muscle resting membrane potential and basal tone, was decreased in renal resistance artery cells of the SH rat. AT1R-AS treatment prevented each of these renal vascular alterations. Finally, AT1R-AS delivery prevented the pathological alterations observed in the SH rat myocardium, including left ventricular hypertrophy, multifocal fibrosis, and perivascular fibrosis. These observations demonstrate that viral-mediated delivery of AT1R-AS attenuates the development of hypertension on a long term basis, and this is associated with prevention of pathophysiological changes in SH rats. 相似文献

Understanding how and where in the brain sentence-level meaning is constructed from words presents a major scientific challenge. Recent advances have begun to explain brain activation elicited by sentences using vector models of word meaning derived from patterns of word co-occurrence in text corpora. These studies have helped map out semantic representation across a distributed brain network spanning temporal, parietal, and frontal cortex. However, it remains unclear whether activation patterns within regions reflect unified representations of sentence-level meaning, as opposed to superpositions of context-independent component words. This is because models have typically represented sentences as “bags-of-words” that neglect sentence-level structure. To address this issue, we interrogated fMRI activation elicited as 240 sentences were read by 14 participants (9 female, 5 male), using sentences encoded by a recurrent deep artificial neural-network trained on a sentence inference task (InferSent). Recurrent connections and nonlinear filters enable InferSent to transform sequences of word vectors into unified “propositional” sentence representations suitable for evaluating intersentence entailment relations. Using voxelwise encoding modeling, we demonstrate that InferSent predicts elements of fMRI activation that cannot be predicted by bag-of-words models and sentence models using grammatical rules to assemble word vectors. This effect occurs throughout a distributed network, which suggests that propositional sentence-level meaning is represented within and across multiple cortical regions rather than at any single site. In follow-up analyses, we place results in the context of other deep network approaches (ELMo and BERT) and estimate the degree of unpredicted neural signal using an “experiential” semantic model and cross-participant encoding.SIGNIFICANCE STATEMENT A modern-day scientific challenge is to understand how the human brain transforms word sequences into representations of sentence meaning. A recent approach, emerging from advances in functional neuroimaging, big data, and machine learning, is to computationally model meaning, and use models to predict brain activity. Such models have helped map a cortical semantic information-processing network. However, how unified sentence-level information, as opposed to word-level units, is represented throughout this network remains unclear. This is because models have typically represented sentences as unordered “bags-of-words.” Using a deep artificial neural network that recurrently and nonlinearly combines word representations into unified propositional sentence representations, we provide evidence that sentence-level information is encoded throughout a cortical network, rather than in a single region. 相似文献

It is well established that the central cardiovascular effects of angiotensin II (Ang II) involve superoxide production. However, the intracellular mechanism by which reactive oxygen species (ROS) signaling regulates neuronal Ang II actions remains to be elucidated. In the present study, we have used neuronal cells in primary cultures from the hypothalamus and brain stem areas to study the role of ROS on the cellular actions of Ang II. Ang II increases neuronal firing rate, an effect mediated by the AT(1) receptor subtype and involving inhibition of the delayed rectifier potassium current (I(Kv)). This increase in neuronal activity was associated with increases in NADPH oxidase activity and ROS levels within neurons, the latter evidenced by an increase in ethidium fluorescence. The increases in NADPH oxidase activity and ethidium fluorescence were blocked by either the AT(1) receptor antagonist losartan or by the selective NAD(P)H oxidase inhibitor gp91ds-tat. Extracellular application of the ROS scavenger, Tempol, attenuated the Ang II-induced increase in neuronal firing rate by 70%. In addition, gp91ds-tat treatment resulted in a 50% inhibition of Ang II-induced increase in firing rate. In contrast, the ROS generator Xanthine-Xanthine oxidase significantly increased neuronal firing rate. Finally, Ang II inhibited neuronal I(Kv,) and this inhibition was abolished by gp91ds-tat treatment. These observations demonstrate, for the first time, that Ang II regulates neuronal activity via a series of events that includes ROS generation and inhibition of I(Kv). The selection of a facile, eco-friendly, and effective methodology is the need of the hour for efficient curing of the COVID-19 virus in air, water, and many food products. Recently, semiconductor-based photocatalytic methodologies have provided promising, green, and sustainable approaches to battle against viral activation via the oxidative capabilities of various photocatalysts with excellent performance under moderate conditions and negligible by-products generation as well. Considering this, recent advances in photocatalysis for combating the spread of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) are inclusively highlighted. Starting from the origin to the introduction of the coronavirus, the significant potential of photocatalysis against viral prevention and -disinfection is discussed thoroughly. Various photocatalytic material-based systems including metal-oxides, metal-free and advanced 2D materials (MXenes, MOFs and COFs) are systematically examined to understand the mechanistic insights of virus-disinfection in the human body to fight against COVID-19 disease. Also, a roadmap toward sustainable solutions for ongoing COVID-19 contagion is also presented. Finally, the challenges in this field and future perspectives are comprehensively discussed involving the bottlenecks of current photocatalytic systems along with potential recommendations to deal with upcoming pandemic situations in the future.Photocatalysts are green, eco-friendly, clean and sustainable and could be a solution to combat COVID-19 because of potential features of various types of metal oxides against viral inactivation via the generation of reactive oxidative species. 相似文献
