Circulating immune complexes in pre-eclampsia. 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Serum samples from 20 non-pregnant women, 30 women with normal pregnancy and 50 women with pregnancy associated with pre-eclampsia were tested for circulating immune complexes using the polyethyleneglycol precipitation method. A highly significant positive correlation was found between circulating immune complexes and severe pre-eclampsia (BP greater than 140/90 mm Hg, albuminuria greater than 0.25 g/l). In contrast to this the difference in immune complex levels between non-pregnant subject, normal pregnancy cases and patients with mild pre-eclampsia was not statistically significant. A significant positive correlation was found between the level of circulating immune complexes and the severity of albuminuria. These findings suggest that circulating immune complexes, though not seeming to play an aetiological role in pre-eclampsia may very well be involved in its pathogenesis. 相似文献

We have developed a four-dimensional computed tomography (4D CT) technique for mapping breathing motion in radiotherapy treatment planning. A multislice CT scanner (1.5 mm slices) operated in ciné mode was used to acquire 12 contiguous slices in each couch position for 15 consecutive scans (0.5 s rotation, 0.25 s between scans) while the patient underwent simultaneous quantitative spirometry measurements to provide a sorting metric. The spirometry-sorted scans were used to reconstruct a 4D data set. A critical factor for 4D CT is quantifying the reconstructed data set quality which we measure by correlating the metric used relative to internal-object motion. For this study, the internal air content within the lung was used as a surrogate for internal motion measurements. Thresholding and image morphological operations were applied to delineate the air-containing tissues (lungs, trachea) from each CT slice. The Hounsfield values were converted to the internal air content (V). The relationship between the air content and spirometer-measured tidal volume (v) was found to be quite linear throughout the lungs and was used to estimate the overall accuracy and precision of tidal volume-sorted 4D CT. Inspection of the CT-scan air content as a function of tidal volume showed excellent correlations (typically r>0.99) throughout the lung volume. Because of the discovered linear relationship, the ratio of internal air content to tidal volume was indicative of the fraction of air change in each couch position. Theoretically, due to air density differences within the lung and in room, the sum of these ratios would equal 1.11. For 12 patients, the mean value was 1.08 +/- 0.06, indicating the high quality of spirometry-based image sorting. The residual of a first-order fit between v and V was used to estimate the process precision. For all patients, the precision was better than 8%, with a mean value of 5.1% +/- 1.9%. This quantitative analysis highlights the value of using spirometry as the metric in sorting CT scans. Previously, we demonstrated that gamma vinyl-GABA (GVG, Vigabatrin) dose-dependently inhibits cocaine-induced increases in dopamine (DA) concentrations in both the rodent and primate brain. Furthermore, it abolishes cocaine self-administration and conditioned place preference, while having no effect on locomotor activity or drug delivery to the brain. In an effort to better understand the mechanisms underlying this inhibition, we examined the effect of the selective GABA(B) receptor antagonist SCH 50911 on the GVG-induced decrease in cocaine's elevation of extracellular DA concentrations in the nucleus accumbens (NACC). Cocaine administration alone (20 mg/kg i.p.) produced a 480% increase in extracellular NACC DA levels. GVG (300 mg/kg i.p.) significantly reduced this increase by 25% (P<0.01). In sharp contrast, extracellular DA levels increased to 550% after the sequential administration of SCH 50911 (3 mg/kg i.p.), GVG, and cocaine. This increase is significantly different than GVG and cocaine (P<0.05) but similar to cocaine alone. These results demonstrate that the GABA(B) antagonist SCH 50911 was able to completely abolish GVG's inhibition of cocaine-induced increases in DA in the NACC and implicates the GABA(B) receptor in the mechanism underlying this inhibition. 相似文献

The purpose of the present study was to analyze the microbiological profile of cases of keratitis following trauma with vegetative matter in a tertiary care center. A retrospective review of the medical records of 49 patients with keratitis following vegetative matter injury over a 3-month period was performed. All patients underwent corneal scraping for smears and inoculation onto various culture media. The microbiological profile was based on the smear and culture reports. For patients who were culture-negative, outcome after standard empirical antibacterial therapy as per hospital protocol was analyzed. Thirteen patients with corneal ulcers had fungal etiology, eight had bacterial etiology, and two had protozoal etiology, while 13 patients were polymicrobial and 13 were culture-negative. Polymicrobial infections were mainly bacterial (eight cases), and the remaining five cases had coexistent fungal and bacterial etiology. The treatment was directed to the specific organism and patients improved with medical or surgical therapy. Only a third of culture-negative cases showed fungal etiology on biopsy or histopathology after keratoplasty while a third showed improvement with therapy. Corneal infections following vegetative matter trauma show a varied etiological profile; however, bacterial and polymicrobial infections are more prevalent. In the year 2012 leaf curl disease was observed on Marigold (Tagetes patula) in Lakshmangrh, Sikar province of India. Affected plants were severely stunted with apical leaf curl and crinkled leaves, symptoms typical of begomovirus infection.
