This study deals with a series of operations to isolate the micro-cellulose from the palm tree spathe sheath by using a modified chemical method to take into account the low cost and the completion speed and its characterization using X-ray diffraction technique (XRD), infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscope coupled with element analyzer (SEM/EDX). The results showed that the extraction method succeeded in obtaining very pure microscopic fibers with a width of 2–10 μm with a crystallinity index equal to 79.21%, containing the two cellulose features Iβ and II, that, the conversion ratio of the first to the second was estimated at 32, 87%.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: Our purpose was to compare the protein isoform composition of the contractile apparatus at different levels of the fetoplacental vessel musculature et term.STUDY DESIGN: Umbilical, chorionic, and stem villi vessel protein extracts were run on one- and two-dimensional gel electrophoresis; previously characterized human myometrium proteins were used as the smooth muscle proteins of reference.RESULTS: Fetoplacental vessel musculature exhibited a high ratio. The presence, in varying quantities, of myosin heavy chain and actin isoforms of smooth muscle type in the different vessels reflected their degree of differentiation. The presence of nonmuscle protein isoforms, particularly in stem villi vessels, indicated a certain degree of immaturity.CONCLUSIONS: The presence of smooth muscle contractile protein isoforms indicates that fetoplacental vessel musculature is highly differentiated. Regional modulation of fetoplacental blood flow could be, in part, the result of local differences in contractile apparatus protein composition.  相似文献

A 30‐year‐old female patient known to be an intravenous drug user (IVDU) was admitted to Bajcsy‐Zsilinszky Hospital Cardiology Intensive Care Unit at 29‐week gestation with severe sepsis and right heart failure. She had methicillin‐sensitive Staphylococcus aureus on blood culture. Echocardiography confirmed the diagnosis of tricuspid valve infective endocarditis (IE). She had acute deterioration and hemodynamic instability for which an emergency tricuspid valve replacement (TVR) with a simultaneous Cesarean section (CS) was performed simultaneously. Medical management is the standard treatment in IE of IVDU pregnant patients, but in case of life‐threatening complications, emergency TVR and CS are to be considered. This is the first reported case of IVDU IE treated with simultaneous TVR and CS.  相似文献

Background

The hepatokine fetuin-A is linked to obesity and type 2 diabetes, but its presence and expression in adipose tissue remain unclear. In this study, we aimed to assess the circulating levels of fetuin-A and its expression in subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) from diabetic and non-diabetic obese subjects and their modulation by exercise.

Methods

SAT and blood were obtained from adults obese (diabetic, n=118 and non-diabetic, n=166) before and after a 3-month exercise program (diabetic, n=40 and non-diabetic, n=36, respectively). Plasma fetuin-A was assayed using ELISA. The presence and expression of fetuin-A in SAT, peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and cell lines (3T3-L1, THP-1, HepG2, RAW 264.7) were analysed using confocal microscopy, immunoblotting and qRT-PCR.

Results

Plasma fetuin-A level did not significantly differ between diabetic and non-diabetic obese subjects. However, when the non-diabetic group was divided into metabolically healthy and unhealthy phenotypes, significantly higher fetuin-A level was observed in the unhealthy sub-group. Circulating fetuin-A was mainly associated with glycaemic markers. In SAT, fetuin-A protein level was significantly higher in the diabetic obese subjects but its mRNA was not detected. Similarly, fetuin-A protein was detected in PBMCs, but its mRNA was not. In line with this, the use of various cell lines and culture media indicated that the presence of fetuin-A in SAT and PBMCs was due to its uptake from circulation rather than its endogenous expression. Finally, physical exercise decreased fetuin-A levels in both plasma and SAT in both groups.

Conclusions

Fetuin-A levels increased in association with diabetes in SAT but not in circulation in the obese subjects. Moreover, physical exercise decreased fetuin-A level. Fetuin-A potentially acts as a hepatokine taken up by other tissues, such as adipose tissue.

We report a case of a patient who presented for ACTH‐dependent Cushing after a confirmed hypercortisolism and an inadequate normal ACTH. A transsphenoidal surgery of a pituitary picoadenoma has been done. After surgery, the patient showed the persistence of hypercortisolism. CT scan revealed adrenal adenomas removed surgically and improved the patient.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to detect the role of some mosquito organs in their sensation of repellent materials. A total of 250 females (15 days old) of the target species Aedes aegypti and Anopheles stephensi were prepared and divided into five groups: group 1, without antenna; group 2, without maxillary bulbs; group 3, without proboscis; group 4, without frontal tarsus; and group 5, normal females as control. A mixture of five oils containing Litsea cubeba 1%, Melaleuca leucadendron 1%, Melaleuca quinquenervia 1%, Viola odorata 1%, and Nepeta cataria 1% was included in a complex solvent containing 20% genapol, 10% polyethylene glycol, 20% ethanol, and 50% water. Furthermore, Bayrepel was used in this experiment at a 20% concentration in the same solvent. Pure water was used as control in this study. The test was carried out by spreading 100 μl of the repellent material or water on a 30-cm2 exposure area of a human volunteer’s arm. In A. aegypti, the biting and landing percentages increased significantly in those mosquito groups that lacked some organs (especially maxillary bulbs), while in A. stephensi, it became not clear which organ is responsible for perception of repellents.  相似文献
