We present a small child with febrile peaks and syncopal episodes secundary to ventricular tachycardia, in whom it was eventually possible to demostrate the Brugada Syndrome with a special presentation in the ECG; early repolarization pattern in lead I and a aVL and Brugada pattern during fever in V1‐V2. Epidermolytic palmoplantar keratoderma (EPPK), an autosomal‐dominant genodermatosis, is the most frequently occurring hereditary palmoplantar keratoderma. EPPK is characterized by hyperkeratosis of the palms and soles. Approximately 90% of patients present with mutations in the KRT9 gene, which encodes for keratin 9. Many of these mutations are located within the highly conserved coil 1A region of the alpha‐helical rod domain of keratin 9, an important domain for keratin heterodimerization. The objective was to assess the clinical and molecular characteristics of a Mexican family with EPPK. The clinical characteristics of members of this family were analyzed. The KRT9 gene of affected members was polymerase chain reaction amplified from genomic DNA and sequenced. All affected members of the family had hyperkeratosis of the palms and soles with knuckle pads. The R163W mutation in the KRT9 gene was present in all affected individuals who were tested. Although R163W is the most frequent KRT9 mutation in patients with EPPK, only two families have been reported with knuckle pads associated with this mutation. Our findings indicate that knuckle pads can be associated with EPPK and the R163W mutation in a family with a genetic background different from that described here. 相似文献

Viscosin (1), an effective surface-active cyclic lipopeptide, was efficiently recovered from Pseudomonas libanensis M9-3 with a simple purification protocol. A major pigment also obtained during this process was identified as phenazine-1-carboxylic acid. The critical micelle concentration (cmc) of viscosin was determined to be 54 mg L (-1), and the minimum surface tension between air and water at the cmc was 28 mN m (-1). Viscosin forms stable emulsions even at low concentrations (7.5 mg L (-1)), and the conditional stability constant for a cadmium-viscosin complex was determined to be 5.87. The physicochemical properties measured for viscosin are similar to other well-studied biosurfactants such as rhamnolipid and surfactin. Viscosin inhibited migration of the metastatic prostate cancer cell line, PC-3M, without visible toxicity. These properties suggest the potential of viscosin in environmental and biomedical applications. 相似文献

Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PDH) activities were studied during corneal epithelial growth and differentiation in cell culture. LDH and G-6-PDH activities increased up to 60 and 150-fold, respectively, when corneal epithelial cells constituted a differentiated four to five layered epithelium; these increases showed a similar time-course to the expression of K3 keratin. Immunostaining experiments showed that in growing colonies, LDH staining is stronger in those cells that are K3 positive; in contrast, in confluent four to five layered epithelia LDH and K3 were located in all cell layers, similar to the pattern found in frozen sections from rabbit central cornea. During growth and differentiation, the LDH isoenzyme set from corneal epithelial cells did not change; and it was different from those observed in cultured conjunctival, esophageal and epidermal cells. The augment in LDH activity was due to a 25-fold increase in the LDH-H mRNA and a 12-fold augment in LDH-M mRNA. A computer-assisted search led to identify AP2 and Sp1 binding sites in the LDH and G-6-PDH promoters, suggesting that their expression might share common regulatory mechanisms with the regulation of the differentiation-linked keratins. It is proposed that LDH may be an early marker of corneal epithelial differentiation, and its isozyme pattern could be distinctive from other epithelial cell lineages. 相似文献

Bochdalek hernia is a congenital defect of the posterolateral region of the diaphragm, usually on the left side, and is most often seen in infants, rare in the adult. In a bibliographical review of the literature we found 100 cases reported of Bochdalek hernia in the adult. We present the case of a 52 year old man with Bochdalek hernia, he presented gastric symptoms of upper gastrointestinal bleeding. Upper gastrointestinal barium study showed the stomach inside the thoracic cavity, endoscopy showed ischemical changes in gastric mucosa The surgical repair was done through left thoracotomy without surgical complications, four years later the patient is asymptomatic. 相似文献

In this study, we have analyzed the chemical composition and antiproliferative activity of propolis from three different arid and semiarid regions of Sonora, Mexico. We identified and quantitated the main chemical constituents of propolis by HPLC-MS. The most abundant constituents of propolis were pinocembrin, pinobanksin 3-acetate, and chrysin. Sonoran propolis had a strong antiproliferative activity on both murine and human cancer cell lines in a concentration-dependent manner. The propolis constituents CAPE, galangin, xanthomicrol and chrysin showed significant antiproliferative activity on most of the cancer cells tested. DNA harvested from cancer cell cultures treated with Sonoran propolis exhibited a ladder of internucleosomal DNA cleavage characteristic of apoptosis. In summary, we have identified and quantitated the main constituents of Sonoran propolis. These propolis samples possess a strong antiproliferative activity on cancer cell lines. 相似文献

BACKGROUND: Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer of the women worldwide. Infection with some genotypes of human papillomavirus is the most important risk factor associated to cervical cancer. OBJECTIVE: To determine the prevalence and genotypes of papillomavirus in biopsies of women with squamous intraepithelial lesion and cervical cancer. STUDY DESIGN: Two hundred sequential patients of colposcopy clinic were studied. HPV diagnosis was done by polymerase chain reaction using MY09/MY11 primers, for genotyping line blot hybridization was used. RESULTS: A total of 186 women were beta globin positive; 104 (55.9%) had histology diagnosis of low-grade squamous intraepitelial lesions (LSIL), 67 (36.0%) high-grade squamous intraepitelial lesions (HSIL) and 15 (8.1%) invasive cervical cancer (IC). The prevalence of HPV was 56.4% (104/185); HPV 58 was founded in 28.5% of all positive women, HPV 16 in 25.7%, HPV 18 in 13.3%, HPV 33 in 11.4% and 31 in 8.5%. In all grades of the lesions HPV 58 was the most frequently. CONCLUSIONS: The high prevalence of HPV 58 among Mexican women with HSIL and IC, has important implications in prophylaxis. 相似文献
