Background : Membranes of human placentas have been used in the field of medicine for skin grafts, treatment of burns, and ulcerated skin conditions with great success. The use of placenta allografts in dentistry is a more recent development, with the first commercial product being made available in 2008. The unique inherent biologic properties in placenta allografts enhance wound healing and may propagate regeneration. Methods: Ten healthy adult patients presenting with 21 Miller Class I gingival recession (GR) defects (isolated or adjacent multiple) were surgically treated with a modified coronally advanced flap and chorion membrane for root coverage. Clinical parameters measured at baseline, 3 months, and 6 months were probing depth, clinical attachment level, GR height, width of keratinized gingiva, and assessment of gingival biotype. Statistical analysis was performed to compare the treatment outcomes at the follow‐up intervals. Results: The results showed statistically significant (P <0.001) improvements in all clinical parameters at the 3‐ and 6‐month follow‐ups. The mean percentage of root coverage at the end of 6 months was 89.92% ± 15.59%, and 14 of 21 treated GR defects showed 100% root coverage. The gingival biotype also showed a thick biotype in nine sites that had an initial thin biotype. Conclusions: Fetal membranes possess distinctive properties that can be harnessed to promote periodontal healing. The chorion membrane covered by a modified coronally advanced flap is a new approach that has shown promising results in terms of root coverage, increased width of keratinized tissue, and thickness of the gingival biotype.  相似文献

Herein, we reported the supramolecular organization of N-acyltris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane (NATM) in the solid state as well as in aqueous solution. Single crystal X-ray diffraction revealed that NATM adopts a fully interdigitized structure. The thermodynamic parameters associated with thermotropic phase behaviour of NATM was determined by differential scanning calorimetry. The molecular packing and phase state of the NATM analyzed by laurdan and prodan fluorescence supports the formation of an interdigitized phase in aqueous solution. The potential application of the self-assembled NATM vesicles was demonstrated through entrapping model drug, Rhodamine B.

Since the cyanide ion is used in a wide range of industries and is harmful to both human health and the environment, a number of research efforts are dedicated to creating fluorescence sensors for the detection of cyanide (CN). Herein, for the fluorescence detection of CN, a new highly selective and sensitive sensor 2-(3-(benzo[d]thiazol-2-yl)-4-hydroxybenzylidene)-1H-indene-1,3(2H)-dione (BID) was created by conjugating a benzothiazole moiety with 1H-indene-1,3(2H)-dione. The donor and acceptor components of this hybrid receptor were covalently connected through a double bond. The nucleophilic addition of a cyanide anion to the BID inhibits the intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) transition, resulting in spectral and colour alterations in the receptor. When the solvent polarity was increased from n-hexane to methanol, this molecule exhibited a bathochromic shift in the emission wavelength (610 to 632 nm), suggesting the presence of a solvatochromic action. The sensor BID has shown strong specificity towards CN by interrupting its internal charge transfer (ICT), resulting in a significant change in the UV-vis spectrum and a notable blue shift in the fluorescence emission spectrum. The cyanide anion (CN) is responsible for the optical alterations observed by BID, as opposed to the other anions examined. The detection limit was 5.97 nM, significantly less than the WHO''s permitted amount of CN in drinking water. The experimental findings indicate that BID''s fluorescence response to CN is pH insensitive throughout a wide pH range of 6.0 to 12.0. The interaction mechanism between the BID and CN ions has been studied by HRMS, 1H-NMR titration experiments, FT-IR, and DFT, which confirmed the nucleophilic addition of CN on vinylidene and subsequent disturbance of ICT. Additionally, we demonstrated the real-time detection application of CN in environmental water samples and live-cell imaging.

Six novel chromanone acids (1-6) were isolated from the bark of Calophyllum brasiliense Cambess. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of 1D and 2D NMR experiments, as well as mass spectrometry. All compounds showed moderate to strong antibacterial activity against Bacillus cereus and Staphylococcus epidermidis, with 1 and 2 being most active. None of the compounds were cytotoxic against KB, Jurkat T, and myosarcoma cancer cells up to 20 microg/mL.  相似文献

We describe 2 infants with hemophilia A who had heart surgery under cardiopulmonary bypass with factor VIII replacement therapy, and we recommend a guideline for factor VIII support for cardiac surgery. One child had repair of total anomalous pulmonary venous connection. The second had cardiac catheterization followed by repair of ventricular septal defect and total anomalous pulmonary venous connection. Close collaboration between hematologist, laboratory, cardiologist, and cardiac surgeon is crucial in successful management of coagulation abnormalities during and after surgery.  相似文献

We report a case of female who presented with a lump in the right breast. Fine needle aspiration cytology of lump revealed numerous adult filarial worms. Common habitat of the adult filarial worms is the lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes of limbs and their occurrence in breast is uncommon.  相似文献

Parosteal osteosarcoma is a well-differentiated, predominantly fibro-osseous variant of osteosarcoma, accounting for 5% of all osteosarcomas. We report a case of parosteal osteosarcoma in the metaphyseal area of right femur, of 2 years' duration in a male aged 35 years. It was mistaken for osteochondroma in the initial biopsy, and the possibility of bizarre parosteal osteochondromatous proliferation (BPOP) was also considered. Subsequent excision of the tumor showed it to be a parosteal osteosarcoma. The patient had recurrence of the lesion after 1 year, and he attended a cancer institute. Follow-up showed metastases of the tumor on bone scan.  相似文献
