Mixed form of total anomalous pulmonary venous connection: apropos of a case

As opposed to partial anomalous of pulmonary venous connection, it is frequent and benigns, the total anomalous of pulmonary venous connection is extremely rare and more serious. The anomalous is severe because all pulmonary venous connection, instead of left heart it go to the right heart. The age of diagnosis is closely tied up anatomics characteristics, so various clinical cases are present. The TAPVC of new born is a surgical emergency, especially where it's block up and release++ cardiorespiratory distress syndrome secondary to OAP. For great children, the total anomlous of pulmonary venous connection can be assumed to a case of atrial septal defect. This study intend to clear up this clinical and anatomical polymorphism and to report an exceptional-form of this congenital anomaly which is mixed total anomalous of pulmonary venous connection.     

Pheochromocytoma. Report of 10 cases

We report 10 cases of adrenal pheochromocytoma seen over a period 15-years. A female predominance was noted (8 women/2 men). Patients were aged between 16-46 years with a mean of 34 years. Clinical manifestations consisted of hypertension observed in all cases, with vasomotor symptoms (90%). Time to consultation was prolonged (mean: 23 months). CT scan performed in 7 cases showed pheochromocytoma in all cases, located on the right side in 6 cases, while one pheochromocytoma was located in Zukerkandal organ. All patients were operated via anterior approach and adrenalectomy was performed. A favourable course was observed in 90% of cases with normalisation blood pressure. One death was noted. Histological examination showed no malignancy in all cases.     

Luxation traumatique négligée de la tête radiale chez l’adulte (à propos d’un cas et revue de la littérature)

The authors report the case of an isolated dislocation of the head radial road neglected during 2 months at a 28-year-old patient further to a fall on the right hand bends in extension and hyperpronation of the front arm. The treatment consisted of a bloody reduction of the head radial road by extern way of the elbow with one temporary embrochage pen radial road and a suture of the previous annular ligament by point's transosseux paletot with plastered brachio-antébrachiopalmaire fixed asset in 100° of flexion. For to remind the diagnostic and therapeutic difficulties of this pathology, we propose the study of an observation analyzed in the review of the literature.     

Fracture-avulsion de la tuberosité calcanéenne : à propos d’un cas

An avulsion fracture of the tuberosity of the calcaneus is a very rare, but recognized, occurrence. In the majority of cases, it is accompanied by displacement of the torn fragment, and usually surgery is required to treat the displaced fracture. Basic surgical fixation using foam-type screws is commonly used.We are reporting on a case of an avulsion fracture of the tuberosity of the calcaneus in a male, aged 70. Through this case and a review of the literature discussing its etiology, we are proposing mechanisms and treatment methods for this type of lesion.     

Adaptation and validation of the Moroccan Arabic version of the Psychosocial Impact of Dental Aesthetics Questionnaire (PIDAQ)

Objective

The aims of this study were to translate and culturally adapt the PIDAQ native English version into Moroccan Arabic, and to assess the psychometric characteristics of the version thereby obtained.

Materials and methods

The PIDAQ original English version was sequentially subjected to translation into Moroccan Arabic, back-translation into English, committee review, and pre-testing in 30 subjects seeking orthodontic treatment.

Results

The final Moroccan Arabic version further underwent an analysis of psychometric properties on a random sample of 99 adult subjects (84 females and 15 males, aged 20.97 ± 1.10 years). The intraclass coefficient correlation of the scores of the responses obtained after administration of the questionnaire twice at a 1-month interval to a random sample of 30 subjects ranged from 0.63 for “Self-confidence” to 0.85 for “Social Impact”. Cronbach α coefficients ranging from 0.78 for “Aesthetic Concerns” to 0.87 for “Self-confidence” were obtained; the different subscales of the Moroccan Arabic version of the PIDAQ showed good correlation with the perception of aesthetics and orthodontic treatment need.

Conclusion

The results of the present study indicate that the Moroccan Arabic version of the PIDAQ obtained following thorough adaptation of the native form is both reliable and valid. It is able to capture self-perception of orthodontic aesthetic and treatment need and is consistent with normative need for orthodontic treatment.
