AimsThis meta-analysis aims to analyze the association of calcium channel blocker (CCB) use with COVID-19 clinical outcomes.MethodsPubMed, ProQuest, Science Direct, Scopus, and medRxiv databases were searched systematically in a limited period. The primary outcome was mortality.ResultsA total of 119,298 patients from 31 eligible studies were included. Pooled analysis of the random-effect model revealed CCB was not associated with reduced mortality (OR = 1.21 [95%CI: 0.98–1.49], p = 0.08). Interestingly, subgroup analysis in hypertensive patients revealed significantly reduced mortality (OR = 0.69 [95%CI: 0.52–0.91], p = 0.009).ConclusionCCB usage was not associated with the outcome of COVID-19. However, CCB was associated with a decreased mortality rate in hypertensive COVID-19 patients. 相似文献

Sargassum is undoubtedly one of the most predominant brown macroalgae, posing a significant disposal problem for coastal areas worldwide. The effective valorization of Sargassum sp. would be beneficial not only for environmental mitigation but also for producing high-value chemicals. However, the valorization of Sargassum sp. for bio-oil and biochar production via slow pyrolysis has not been well studied yet. Hence, this study aimed to conduct a comprehensive investigation into bio-oil and biochar production from Sargassum sp. via slow pyrolysis to provide valuable data for further valorization. A batch reactor was employed, and the pyrolysis of Sargassum sp. was conducted in a temperature range of 400–600 °C and with retention times of 10–50 min. The results showed significant compounds could be identified in bio-oil from Sargassum sp., including carboxylic acids, furan derivatives, aliphatic hydrocarbons, and N-aromatic compounds. Based on the ultimate analysis, the H/C and O/C atomic ratios of biochar were lower than the feedstock, reflecting the occurrence of dehydration and decarboxylation reactions throughout the pyrolysis. Biochar exhibited calorific values in the range of 23.12–25.89 MJ kg−1, indicating it has more potential to be used as a solid fuel than low-ranked coals. Surface morphological analysis was performed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and showed a larger surface area in biochar than in the algal feedstock. Furthermore, a reaction model was deduced, and it was confirmed that the pyrolysis reaction obeyed the Arrhenius behaviour. Overall, the slow pyrolysis of Sargassum sp. provides an opportunity to obtain value-added chemicals and biochars, which could be further utilized for other applications.Slow pyrolysis of brown macroalgae (Sargassum sp.) for bio-oil and biochar production. 相似文献

Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) has played a significant role in understanding the epidemiology and biology of SARS-CoV-2 virus. Here, we investigate the use of SARS-CoV-2 WGS in Southeast and East Asian countries as a genomic surveillance during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nottingham–Indonesia Collaboration for Clinical Research and Training (NICCRAT) initiative has facilitated collaboration between the University of Nottingham and a team in the Research Center for Biotechnology, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), to carry out a small number of SARS-CoV-2 WGS in Indonesia using Oxford Nanopore Technology (ONT). Analyses of SARS- CoV-2 genomes deposited on GISAID reveal the importance of clinical and demographic metadata collection and the importance of open access and data sharing. Lineage and phylogenetic analyses of two periods defined by the Delta variant outbreak reveal that: (1) B.1.466.2 variants were the most predominant in Indonesia before the Delta variant outbreak, having a unique spike gene mutation N439K at more than 98% frequency, (2) Delta variants AY.23 sub-lineage took over after June 2021, and (3) the highest rate of virus transmissions between Indonesia and other countries was through interactions with Singapore and Japan, two neighbouring countries with a high degree of access and travels to and from Indonesia. 相似文献

Recent Internet measurements have found pervasive evidence of some surprising scaling properties. The two we focus on in this paper are self-similar scaling in the burst patterns of Internet traffic and, in some contexts, scale-free structure in the network's interconnection topology. These findings have led to a number of proposed models or "explanations" of such "emergent" phenomena. Many of these explanations invoke concepts such as fractals, chaos, or self-organized criticality, mainly because these concepts are closely associated with scale invariance and power laws. We examine these criticality-based explanations of self-similar scaling behavior---of both traffic flows through the Internet and the Internet's topology---to see whether they indeed explain the observed phenomena. To do so, we bring to bear a simple validation framework that aims at testing whether a proposed model is merely evocative, in that it can reproduce the phenomenon of interest but does not necessarily capture and incorporate the true underlying cause, or indeed explanatory, in that it also captures the causal mechanisms (why and how, in addition to what). We argue that the framework can provide a basis for developing a useful, consistent, and verifiable theory of large networks such as the Internet. Applying the framework, we find that, whereas the proposed criticality-based models are able to produce the observed "emergent" phenomena, they unfortunately fail as sound explanations of why such scaling behavior arises in the Internet. 相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of three polymorphisms (D543N, TGTG deletion in 3' UTR, INT4 G/C) of NRAMP1 to susceptibility to lung tuberculosis (TB) disease. The results showed that homozygous TGTG deletion in 3'UTR of NRAMP1 was found more frequent in lung tuberculosis patients than in healthy nurses working in a TB ward. This 4 base deletion might cause malfunction of NRAMP1 protein so that it fails as Fe2+ ion transporter causing macrophage unable to eliminate Mycobacterium tuberculosis. 相似文献

Functional cotton fabric incorporated with antibacterial microcapsules of lime (C. aurantifolia) essential oil (LO) was prepared. The coacervation method, employing two biopolymers of alginate and gelatin as the shells, was preferentially selected to produce the LO microcapsules, whereas immobilization of the LO microcapsules onto the fabric was done using the pad–dry–cure method using various concentrations of citric acid binder. The antibacterial inhibition zone of the functional fabric was subsequently analysed using the Kirby Bauer method. The LO microcapsules were produced with a yield, encapsulation efficiency (EE), and oil content (OC) of 47 ± 4%, 84 ± 11%, and 58 ± 4%, respectively. The homogenous spherical and soft microcapsules (1.554 μm) bonded effectively by 4% citric acid onto the surface of the fabric and detached back by only 3% after 15 cycles of washing. Overall, the optimized functional fabric exhibited the highest antibacterial activities among others against typical skin bacteria, such as S. aureus, E. coli, K. pneumoniae, and S. epidermidis, and thus it can be potentially applied to obtain antibacterial functional textile.Functional cotton fabric incorporated with antibacterial microcapsules of lime (C. aurantifolia) essential oil (LO) was prepared. 相似文献

IFN-γ elevation is one of the indicators of successful treatment in active tuberculosis (TB) infection due to macrophage and Th-1 activation in inducing autophagy process. However, IL-10 also inhibits interferon-mediated mycobactericid activities by blocking IFN-γ; signaling pathways in autophagy. Therefore, ratio IFN-γ/IL-10 has to be greater than 1 (>1) then IFN-γ remains has anti-mycobacterium. Metformin (MET) is a potent combination drug to elevate anti-TB efficacy and able to regulate inflammation. In this study, an observational clinical study was done in diabetes mellitus (DM)-TB co-infection outpatients at Surabaya Paru Hospital. This study evaluated how MET therapy; affected inflammation. MET was used at least 2 months, accompanying with insulin and; anti-TB and as comparison to non MET group. The result in this study MET increased both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines, thus MET may consider as adjunct therapy in DM-TB coinfection patients due; to its ability in Th-1 and Th-2 immuno-regulating response, especially to enhance IFN-γ; and to reduce insulin associated IL-10 upregulation. 相似文献
