In order to find the three-dimensional distribution of ventricular depolarization potentials in left anterior hemiblock (LAHB) diagnosed by the conventional scalar ECG, 7 subjects with LAHB aged 9 to 62 years old who were otherwise healthy were studied by computer graphic electrocardiography (CGECG).Two modes of the initial ventricular depolarization (IVD) were noted. (1) The IVD appeared irregularly and separately on the mid- to lower central region of the anterior body surface. (2) The IVD appeared in a form rather like a parallelogram on the central region of the anterior body surface. Both (1) and (2) potentials propagated toward the left middle, lower, and lateral regions of the anterior body surface as normally observed; however, they were far lower in voltage than those observed in intact subjects.From the results, it has been concluded that LAHB may be, not a block, but rather a defective ventricular septal conduction.Presented at the 34th Annual Congress, International College of Angiology, Budapest, Hungary, July 1992.  相似文献

The generative concern scale (GCS) and the generative behavior checklist (GBC) based on the multifaceted model of generativity (McAdams & de St. Aubin, 1992) were reconstructed based on item analysis in preliminary research. The reconstructed scales were administered to 996 adults. Factor analysis of GCS-R and GBC-R data revealed the following three factors which showed high internal consistency: offering, maintaining, and creativity. Significant positive correlations between the GCS-R and the GBC-R implied that generative concern may lead to generative behavior. The GCS-R and GBC-R showed significant positive correlations with the Erikson Psychosocial Stage Inventory (Nakanishi & Sakata, 1993) and the Inventory of Psychosocial Balance (Domino & Affonso, 1990), which supports concurrent validity. Adults with higher scores on the GCS-R were more extroverted, open-minded to experiences, and the less depressive based on scores on the Big Five Scale (Wada, 1996) and the Beck Depression Inventory (Hayashi & Takimoto, 1991). In vitro tumor growth in a three-dimensional (3D) architecture has been demonstrated to play an important role in biology not only for developmental organogenesis and carcinogenesis, but also for analyses on reconstitution and maintenance in a variety of biological environments surrounding the cells. In addition to providing architectural similarity to living organisms, 3D culture with a radial flow bioreactor (RFB) can also closely mimic the living hypoxic microenvironment under which specific organogenesis or carcinogenesis occurs. The findings of the present study under the RFB culture conditions show that cancer cells underwent a shift from aerobic to hypoxic energy metabolism, in addition to protein expression to maintain the 3D structure. In RFB-cultured cells, protein stability of hypoxia-inducible factor 1 (HIF1) α, a subunit of HIF1, was increased without upregulation of its mRNA. Under these conditions, PHD2, HIF-prolyl-4-hydroxy-lase 2 and a HIF1 downstream enzyme, were stabilized without affecting the mRNA levels via downregulation of FK506-binding protein 8. PHD2 accumulation, which occurred concomitant with HIF1 stabilization, may have compensated for the lack of oxygen under hypoxic conditions to regulate the HIF levels. 3D-culture-induced overexpression of carbonic anhydrase (another representative HIF downstream enzyme) was found to occur independently of cell density in RFB--cultured cells, suggesting that the RFB provided an adequately hypoxic microenvironment for the cultured cells. From these results, it was hypothesized that the key factors are regulatory molecules, which stabilize and degrade HIF molecules, thereby activating the HIF1 pathway under a hypoxic milieu.  相似文献

We performed successful surgery for lung cancer after confirming the anatomical abnormality of a tracheal bronchus by three-dimensional multidetector-row computed tomography (3D-MDCT) bronchography and angiography. Tracheal bronchus is unusual, and right upper lobectomy for lung cancer would rarely be performed in a patient with a tracheal bronchus. Most clinicians are unfamiliar with the anatomy of a right upper lobe that includes a tracheal bronchus. Preoperative 3D imaging of the tracheal bronchus and its related vessels familiarized us with the anatomy of this patient before the operation. Thus, we recommend preoperative 3DMDCT bronchography and angiography, especially for patients with a possible bronchial anomaly.  相似文献

Adjacent segment stenosis after lumbar fusion requiring second operation   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
Background Whereas degeneration of the segment adjacent to lumbar fusion has been often seen on radiographs, a small number of patients with such degenerative changes undergo reoperation. Most follow-up studies have focused on adjacent segment disease based on analysis of radiographs. The present study was conducted to understand the pathology of reoperation cases of adjacent segment disease and factors associated with this condition. Operative indication was consistently restricted to patients with neurological involvement. Methods The subjects were 117 patients who had undergone posterior lumbar fusion and were followed for a minimum of 2 years (mean 7 years). Among them, nine patients (7.7%) required a second operation owing to symptomatic adjacent segment disease (stenosis). The reoperation rate was assessed in relation to sex, age, initial pathologic condition, and initial spinal fusion and decompression methods. Data were analyzed in a 2 × 2 cross contingency table using Fisher's exact probability test. A probability of <0.05 was defined as statistically significant. Results Of the variables examined, only multilevel fusion was associated with a high rate of reoperation with statistical significance (P < 0.04). Two patients (100%) suffering from loss of coronal balance (degenerative scoliosis) also required a second operation. Conclusions The reoperation rate of 7.7% for adjacent segment disease in this study was consistent with the prevalence of adjacent segment stenosis in the literature. Given the risk of later occurrence of adjacent segment stenosis following multisegment posterolateral fusion, correction of coronal and sagittal balance, preventive decompression of the adjacent segment, or selective decompression without fusion may have to be considered as an additional or alternative procedure.  相似文献

Basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) is an essential supplement for culture media to support the proliferation of human pluripotent stem cells, while preserving their pluripotency. However, it is extremely unstable under cell culture conditions at 37 °C. Therefore, a culture medium supplemented with bFGF needs to be changed every day to maintain an effective concentration of bFGF. This study aimed to create a bFGF-releasing material via simple bFGF adsorption following oxygen plasma treatment by using a water-floatable polyethylene (PE) nonwoven fabric sheet as a bFGF-adsorbent material. Preliminary oxygen plasma treatment enhanced bFGF adsorption onto the sheet by increasing its surface water wettability. Based on the bFGF concentration in the adsorption solution, the resulting bFGF-adsorbed sheet showed different bFGF-release profiles in the culture medium. The bFGF-adsorbed sheet prepared under optimum conditions released bFGF in a sustained manner, maintaining the bFGF concentration in the culture medium of human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) at ≥10 ng mL−1 even without medium change for as long as 3 d. The bFGF released from the sheet retained its biological activity to support colony formation of iPSCs while preserving their pluripotency. This type of bFGF-releasing sheet can be used as a new form of bFGF supplement for the culture media of stem cells and would make a significant contribution to stem cell-based research and development.

We created a bFGF-releasing water-floatable nonwoven fabric sheet via simple bFGF adsorption following oxygen plasma treatment, and demonstrated its potential as a new bFGF supplement for culture media of stem cells.  相似文献
