Synthesis and antibacterial activity of 1-(5-aryl-4-benzoyl-3-hydroxy-2-oxo-3-pyrrolin-1-yl)-2-(3-benzoylmethylene-2-oxopiperazin-1-yl)ethanes

A series of l-(5-aryl-4-benzoyl-3-hydroxy-2-oxo-3-pyrrolin-l-yl)-2-(3-benzoylmethylene-2-oxopiperazin-1-yl)ethanes have been obtained with 35–37% yields via reactions of benzoylpyruvic acid methyl ester with a mixture of aromatic aldehyde and diethylenetriamine in a 2: 1: 1 molar ratio. __________ Translated from Khimiko-Farmatsevticheskii Zhurnal, Vol. 40, No. 8, pp. 5–6, August, 2006.     

Pharmacological analysis of the activity of phenazepam and flunitrazepam administered in superlow doses

Benzodiazepine tranquilizers, phenazepam and flunitrazepam, administered to random-bred albino male rats in superlow doses (10⁻⁹–10⁻¹⁵ mol/kg), are shown to exert an anxiolytic effect in the conflict test. In contrast to the case with the usual doses, the above effect is not accompanied by marked myorelaxant or sedative effects. Local defense mechanisms in chronic nonspecific pulmonary inflammation]

The mechanisms of non-immune and immune injuries in chronic nonspecific lung inflammation are analysed on the basis of authors' research and literature. The data given concern the changes of the bronchial mucociliary transport system, incomplete functions of alveolar macrophages and polymorphonuclear neutrophils in chronic inflammatory foci, increase in the number of intra- and extracellular bacteria, metabolism of lung phagocytes in different chronic inflammatory lung diseases. The urgency of lung phagocyte and lymphocyte investigation both in specific cellular and humoral immune reactions, as well as in realization of immunopathologic mechanisms developing in chronic inflammation is emphasized.
