Cytomorphological study of the development of fibrotic complications in chronic SiO<Subscript>2</Subscript> granulomatosis in the liver during radon treatment

Granulomatosis was induced in male Wistar rats by intravenous injection of SiO₂. The course of SiO₂ granulomatosis was cyclic in animals receiving radon baths: phase 1 was characterized by an increase in the number and size of granulomas, while during phase 2 the intensity of the inflammatory process decreased and fibrosing of granulomas progressed. No trends to alleviation of the inflammatory process were noted in rats with SiO₂ granulocytosis receiving tap water baths. Effect of preliminary load of macrophages with silicium dioxide on phagocytosis of BCG strain micobacteria by macrophages and antimicrobial activity

We studied the effect of preliminary loading of peritoneal macrophages with silicium dioxide on in vitro viability, phagocytosis of BCG strain mycobacteria, and the capability to destroy the phagocytosed mycobacterium tuberculosis. It was shown that preliminary loading of macrophages with silicium dioxide did not reduce their viability and stimulated phagocytosis of BCG strain mycobacteria, but reduced their antibacterial activity.     

Morphological changes in the placenta of pregnant mice in experimental tuberculosis

Changes in the placentas of pregnant C57Bl/6 mice infected with BCG vaccine were studied by light microscopy and morphometry. The decrease in the numbers of maternal and fetal vessels was paralleled by destructive changes and disorders in the compensatory reactions, which led to fetal hypotrophy after infection with BCG vaccine.
