We report on a female newborn with deletion of the short arm of the chromosome 18 (del 18p) and hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) with intact atrial septum. Several forms of congenital heart disease (CHD) are found in 10% of patients with this chromosomal abnormality, although HLHS has not been reported yet. Interesting coronary artery anomalies, as well as the presence of pulmonary lymphangiectasia, were found in our patient and were contributors to her fatal outcome. Del 18 p must be considered when evaluating a patient with characteristic phenotypical anomalies and HLHS with intact atrial septum.  相似文献

There are numerous causes of iron deficiency anemia due to gastrointestinal tract bleeding in children. While a very thorough history may elucidate common etiologies, such as cow’s milk protein-induced colitis and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug-related gastritis or peptic ulcer disease, other less frequent causes often present a diagnostic challenge. We present the MR enterography (MRE), CT and Meckel scan findings of ileal dysgenesis coexisting with multiple enteric duplication cysts in a young child who presented with chronic iron deficiency anemia, recurrent gastrointestinal tract bleeding and unexplained bowel perforation. In this case, MRE was able to identify and characterize each individual lesion and directly guide appropriate surgical management.  相似文献

The electrochemical and corrosion (uniform and localized) behavior of a binary Ni52Ti48 shape memory alloy (SMA) and two ternary Ni52Ti48−xCox (x = 1.5 and 4.0 wt%) SMAs were studied. Measurements were conducted in 0.9% NaCl solution at 37 °C employing various electrochemical methods. These include: linear polarization resistance (LPR), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), chronoamperometry and dynamic electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (DEIS). Such measurements were complemented with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis. Results revealed that the addition of alloyed Co to NiTi significantly reduced the uniform corrosion rate of the studied SMA and greatly enhanced its pitting corrosion resistance. XPS measurements evidenced high stability of the passive layer and limited adsorption of chloride ions. Additionally, it was found that the passive layer remained primarily composed of titanium oxides. Microstructure changes accompanying the addition of Co were also used to account for its role in improving the corrosion resistance of these materials.

Experimental data suggest that myocardial revascularization with a high-energy laser may cause a significant reduction in left ventricular (LV) function immediately after creation of myocardial channels. We sought to determine if percutaneous myocardial laser revascularization (PMR) causes immediate deterioration in hemodynamic parameters or regional LV systolic function. PMR was performed in 40 patients (mean age 62.9 +/- 10.8 years) using the Eclipse Holmium laser (26 had PMR alone; 14 patients underwent PMR plus percutaneous coronary intervention). Intracardiac pressures and left ventriculograms were recorded before and after PMR. Regional wall motion was assessed using the centerline method. A mean of 18 +/- 5 channels were created per patient. There was no significant change in LV ejection fraction immediately after PMR (56 +/- 9% vs 55 +/- 10%, p = 0.25). No deterioration in regional wall motion was demonstrated in the lased region (mean chord motion for anterior wall PMR: -1.5 +/- 0.8 before vs -1.5 +/- 0.8 after the procedure, p = 0.93; inferior wall PMR: -1.5 +/- 0.9 before vs - 1.6 +/- 0.8 after the procedure, p = 0.43). Similarly, there was no change in the number of hypokinetic chords in the treated region. Systemic blood pressure, LV end-diastolic pressure, heart rate, and right-sided heart pressures were not significantly different after laser revascularization. In patients with refractory angina, PMR did not cause immediate deterioration in hemodynamic status or regional LV function.  相似文献

Cell micropatterning was achieved in a spatially controlled manner based on heterogeneously wetted superhydrophilic/superhydrophobic diamond nanowire (NW) surfaces. Diamond NWs were synthesized on boron-doped diamond substrates using reactive ion etching and functionalized with octadecyltrichlorosilane to achieve superhydrophobicity. Superhydrophilic motifs of 400 × 400 μm2 and 10 × 10 μm2 single cell-sized motifs, surrounded by superhydrophobic regions, were then generated by selectively exposing the substrates to UV light. This design allowed successful patterning of single HeLa and MCF-10A cells within the superhydrophilic regions without additional surface modification. To add a further level of complexity, micropatterned co-cultures were obtained using bovine serum albumin to promote cell adhesion. This method is simple and does not require any complicated processing steps such as mask deposition or template removal. Potential applications are in the development of cell-based biological assays in well-controlled and biologically relevant environments.  相似文献

Based on first-principles calculations, for Heusler alloys Pd2CrZ (Z = Al, Ga, In, Tl, Si, Sn, P, As, Sb, Bi, Se, Te, Zn), the effect of Zn doping on their phase transition and electronic structure has been studied in this work. These alloys can be divided into two classes: (i) all-d-metal Heusler Pd2CrZn and (ii) other normal Heusler alloys Pd2CrZ (Z = Al, Ga, In, Tl, Si, Sn, P, As, Sb, Bi, Se, Te). For all-d-metal Heusler alloy Pd2CrZn, transition metal element Zn behaves like a main group element due to its full 3d occupied state, and therefore the Zn atoms tend to occupy Wyckoff sites D (0.75, 0.75, 0.75) instead of replacing Pd atoms at A sites (0, 0, 0). The stable tetragonal L10 state is obtained via tetragonal deformation and the L10 stable state can be tuned by the uniform strain. The stability of the tetragonal state is analyzed and proved via calculation of the density of states (DOSs) and the phonon spectrum. For the series of normal Heusler alloys Pd2CrZ, doping with Zn atoms can induce or strengthen the martensitic transformation, or regulate the large c/a ratios to a more reasonable range. It is hoped that this work can provide some guidance for further studies of the relationship between all-d-metal and normal Heusler alloys in the future.
