The hydration and swelling properties of the tablets made of chitosan, carboxymethyl starch, and a polyelectrolyte complex of these two polysaccharides have been studied by NMR imaging. We studied the effect of pH and ionic strength on the swelling of the tablets and on the diffusion of fluid into the tablets in water and simulated physiological fluids. The pH value of the fluids exerts a more significant effect than their ionic strengths on the swelling of the tablets. The tablets are compared also with those made of cross-linked high amylose starch. The formation of complex helps to keep the integrity of the tablets in various media and render a slow and restricted swelling similar to that of the tablets of the cross-linked high amylase starch, which is significantly lower than the swelling of chitosan and of carboxymethyl starch. The capacities to modulate the release rate of drugs in different media are discussed by comparing the matrices and evaluating the preparation process of the complex. A sustained release of less soluble drugs such as aspirin in gastrointestinal fluids can be provided by the complex, due to the ionic interaction and hydrogen bonding between the drug and the biopolymer complex.  相似文献

The diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) relies on imaging tools and biopsy. It usually does not present to be a challenge.Here we report the case of a 69-year-old patient with HCC, initially mistaken for a gastric hepatoid adenocarcinoma (HAC), with a favorable outcome after neoadjuvant chemotherapy.The initial presentation (clinical signs, morphological features, and histological findings) led to the diagnosis of a gastric hepatoid adenocarcinoma. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy by epirubicin, oxaliplatin, and capecitabine protocol was administered. Biological (alpha-fetoprotein [AFP] decreased by a factor of 10), radiological (−35% RECIST), and histological (20% of necrosis) responses were observed. Complete surgical resection was then performed. The final pathological diagnosis was a well-differentiated HCC, staged pT4 N0 (0/24) R0.There are no guidelines as to how such tumors should be managed. Nonetheless, neoadjuvant chemotherapy yielded a good outcome. This observation stresses the importance of the final pathological findings and addresses the issue of neoadjuvant therapy in some cases of HCC.  相似文献

Chronic rhinosinusitis is a multifactorial disease with pathophysiological mechanisms, which remain unclear, and with a high prevalence worldwide. They generate social problems due to the high number of days of leave and relatively elevated medical expenses. The histopathological and immunohistochemical study that we conducted revealed many lesional aspects of the epithelium of the sinus mucosa, which ranged from hypertrophy, hyperplasia and metaplasia, to erosion and discontinuities. In the chorion of the sinus mucosa there was an inflammatory infiltrate composed mainly of lymphocytes, plasma cells and macrophages, and also a highly developed vascular network. Among immune cells, T-cells appeared to be more numerous than B-lymphocytes and macrophages. We believe that microscopic changes are due mainly to microscopic organisms that make up the biofilm of the sinus cavity, whose virulence has been more or less influenced by exogenous or endogenous factors.  相似文献

The liver microsomal metabolism of the environmental carcinogen3-nitrofluoranthene has been investigated. Five phenolic metaboliteswere isolated and characterized by their mass and NMR spectraas: 3-nitrofluoranthen-1-ol, 3-nitrofluoranthen-6-ol, 3-nitrofluoranthen-(7or 10)-ol, 3-nitrofluoranthen-8-ol and 3-nitrofluoranthen-9-ol.While the microsomes isolated from Sprague-Dawley rat liverand C57B16 mouse liver preferentially metabolized the 3-nitrofluorantheneto 3-nitrofluoranthen-8-ol and 3-nitro-fluoranthen-9-ol, themicrosomes from Hartley guinea-pig liver preferentially metabolized3-nitrofluoranthene to 3-nitrofluoranthen-6-ol. 3-Nitrofluoranthen-1-olwas a minor metabolite in each of the incubations. The resultsindicate the presence of the nitro group on fluoranthene directsthe metabolism away from the C1–C5 positions, and moretowards the C6–C10 positions.  相似文献

Multilamellar and unilamellar phospholipid liposomes were prepared and investigated as regards their properties and the capacity of encapsulating biologically active materials, such as CrO4-(2-)ions, basic dyes, proteins, DNA, as well as Sendai virus particles. The efficiency of encapsulation ranged from 10% for CrO4-(2-)ions to about 80% for toluidine blue; it was found to depend not only on the type of encapsulated material, but also on the method used for liposome preparation and on liposome composition.  相似文献
