Isolated pure lipoma of the uterus--a case report

Lipoma primary to uterus is a rare entity among uterine fatty tumors. These create preoperative diagnostic confusion and their histogenesis is still unclear. Only a few cases of pure lipoma of uterus have been reported in the last few decades. A case of isolated pure lipoma primary to uterus diagnosed postoperatively by pathological examination is presented.     

Parotid gland tuberculosis--a case report

Isolated parotid gland tuberculosis in the clinical absence of tuberculosis elsewhere in the body, is a rare clinical entity. It is often misdiagnosed as parotid gland tumour in the absence of symptoms suggestive of tuberculosis. We are presenting this case to highlight the unusual solitary nature of the lesion, the absence of any other tuberculous focus in the body, the inconclusive findings of the pre-operative investigations like fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC), and computed tomography (CT), and the need for histopathology for definitive diagnosis.     

Submandibular intraductal calculi removal as an office procedure with radiofrequency device

Salivary duct obstruction secondary to calculi is a common disorder of the submandibular gland and often manifesting as painful episodic swelling of the gland during meals. Complications may arise in unresolved obstruction leading to infections, abscess formation and a hypofunctioning gland. Treatment of this disorder has evolved from the traditional sialadenectomy to organ preserving procedures done under general or local anaesthesia. Our technique using Ellman Surgitron radiofrequency device, is another alternative technique for transoral removal of extraglandular calculi. It is a simple, quick an easy technique to learn that can be done in the office setting under local anaesthesia.     

Painless angioleiomyoma: a case report with review of literature

A 55 year old male, who presented with a painless swelling of six months duration on his thigh, was clinically diagnosed to have a benign soft tissue neoplasm. Histological examination of the excision biopsy specimen revealed a benign tumour of the vascular smooth muscle, which was diagnosed as angioleiomyoma. Angioleiomyomas are painful lesions that can occur anywhere in the body. We present this case for its atypical clinical presentation and discuss its histologic features with a review of literature.
