Disordered integration of the immune and nervous systems in exposure to adverse environmental factors]

Exposure to adverse environmental factors can result in the impaired relationships between the immune and nervous systems and hence increase autonomic properties of immunocompetent cells. This impairment may underlie some diseases associated with abnormal immunity. To have knowledge on the ways of restoring the integrative connections between the above systems will help maintain human health, augment its potential as a creator of the noosphere.     

Gastric mucosal lesions caused in rats of different strains by emotional stress,and the protective effect of interleukin 1β

Acute emotional stress results in damage to gastric mucous membranes in August, Wag, and particularly Wistar rats. The damage is less severe in rats preinjected with inter-leukin 1β into a lateral ventricle of the cerebrum. Functional asymmetry of the brain and bone marrow in hemopoiesis in (CBAxC57Bl/6)F(1) mice

The role of functional asymmetry of the brain and bone marrow in the formation of exogenous 8-day splenic CFU was studied in (CBA×C57Bl/6)F1 mice. The intensity of hemopoiesis depended on the motor asymmetry of donors and recipients of bone marrow cells and differed for bone marrow transplantations from the right and left femoral bones.     

Systemic lupus erythematosus presenting as katatonic schizophrenia

Summary A patient fulfilling the diagnostic criteria for systemic lupus erythematosus and presenting with katatonic schizophrenia is described. Psychiatric features of the disease and their management are discussed.
