A rare case of malignant peritoneal mesothelioma in a 49-year-old Japanese woman is presented. The tumor was limited to the peritoneum, and was cytologically and histologically identified as being composed of two components, epithelial and non-epithelial forms. The transition in her CA-125 level suggested that this tumor had good prospects of developing into a malignant mesothelioma. The good prognosis of the patient is considered to be attributed to detecting this tumor in its early stage and to aggressive chemotherapy.  相似文献

Endovascular differentiation of extravillous cytotrophoblasts (EVT) during placentogenesis induces remodeling of spiral arteries that increases blood flow toward the intravillous space and is required for maintaining pregnancy. To address the molecular mechanisms involved in this differentiation, we investigated the gene expression profile during matrigel-induced tube formation in TCL1 cells, a human immortalized EVT cell line, and HUV-EC-C, human umbilical vessel endothelial cells, and compared their profiles. The numbers of genes that showed significant up-regulation (>3-fold expression at both 3 and 6h, and/or >5-fold expression at either 3 or 6h) during tube formation and significant down-regulation (0.33-fold expression at both 3 and 6h, and/or less than 0.2-fold expression at either 3 or 6h), were 969 and 659 in TCL1, respectively. In HUV-EC-C, the numbers of genes that showed significant up-regulation and down-regulation were 86 and 65, respectively. Only 73 of 1628 genes that showed significant expression changes in TCL1 were common with HUV-EC-C. The genes showing significant expression change specifically in TCL1 were associated with cellular, metabolisms, proliferation, anti-apoptosis, proteolysis adhesion, and some known to be involved in EVT differentiation or related to angiogenesis. The gene expression profile in EVT during tube formation is very different from that of endothelial cells. Further investigations based on the current data may help to elucidate mechanisms of normal and abnormal placentogenesis.  相似文献

We examined the antitumor effects of recombinant interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) on cervical adenocarcinoma cell lines, in vitro and in vivo. Four of five cell lines showed a high sensitivity to IFN-gamma, in vitro. One of five cell lines showed a remarkable sensitivity to TNF, in vitro. Only one cell line resistant to both IFN and TNF was derived from a well-differentiated adenocarcinoma of endocervical type. Experiments using nude mice bearing transplanted tumors revealed that these cytokines were also effective against tumors in vivo. All these observations suggest that IFN-gamma or TNF can have positive effects in the treatment of patients with adenocarcinoma of the uterine cervix.  相似文献

Eighteen patients with advanced or recurrent carcinoma of the cervix were treated with a combination of peplomycin, vincristine, mitomycin-C, and cisplatin (POMP). Ten of the 16 evaluable patients (63%) responded, including 4 with a complete response. Median duration of the response was 7 months. Two of 6 with intrapelvic recurrent tumors responded to some extent following intraarterial infusion. The subcutaneous infusion of peplomycin was well accepted by the patients. Toxicity was tolerable. This regimen seemed to be one of the regimens which should be considered for the advanced or recurrent cervical cancer.  相似文献

A case of glassy cell carcinoma of the endometrium in a 62-year-old woman is reported. Microscopically, a cytoplasm of ground-glass appearance was observed with a distinct cell wall and large nuclei containing prominent nucleoli. These histologic characteristics are consistent with those of glassy cell carcinoma of the cervix. Treatment consisted of total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy with pelvic lymph node dissection followed by external irradiation to the whole pelvis. The patient was alive without evidence of disease at 5 1/2 years.  相似文献

The case of a 60-year-old woman in whom a lymphoma-like lesion of the cervix was found during an episode of silent Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection is presented. Fractional curettage was performed because of abnormal endometrial smear. The endocervical curettage specimens were diagnosed as highly suggestive of malignant lymphoma, but microscopic examination of a subsequent hysterectomy specimen revealed a benign lymphoid hyperplasia. Those were retrospectively interpreted as a lymphoma-like lesion of the cervix. In the absence of clinical symptoms of infectious mononucleosis, the results of serologic tests for EBV revealed an active EBV infection. EBV DNA was demonstrated in nuclei of large lymphoid cells in endocervical curettage specimens by in situ hybridization. She is alive and well 32 months postoperatively. When female patients with lymphoma-like lesions of the lower genital tract are encountered, examinations for EBV are recommended.  相似文献

Local immune response in squamous cell carcinoma of the uterine cervix   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
The role of Langerhans cells as antigen-presenting cells was examined in cervical carcinomas. Frozen samples were obtained from 34 women with stage Ib and II cervical carcinomas. Langerhans cells (CD1), T lymphocytes (CD4 and CD8), B lymphocytes (CD22), and natural killer (CD57, NK) cells were all quantitatively assessed in cervical carcinomas using immunohistochemical methods. These results were related to the MHC class I and II expression on the tumor cells. The majority of Langerhans cells were distributed among cancer cells and they were positively correlated with CD4+, NK and B cells in cervical carcinomas. This is suggestive of the presence of local immune response. The numbers of Langerhans, CD4+, CD8+ and NK cells did not significantly correlate with age at operation, lymph node metastases or depth of cervical wall invasion. The downregulation of MHC class I expression found in 8 (24%) carcinomas was not associated with the decrease in the number of immunologic cells. The upregulation of MHC class II expression found in 26 (76%) carcinomas was significantly associated with the increase in the number of Langerhans cells (p < 0.007). However, the association between the upregulation of MHC-II expression and CD4+ cells did not reach statistical significance (p < 0.07). This is probably due to a small case in this study. MHC-II-restricted immunity may partly contribute to the local immune response in stages Ib and II squamous cell carcinoma of the uterine cervix.  相似文献
