Summary In an attempt to differentiate between nociceptive group IV muscle receptors and ergoceptive ones, the discharges of single group IV fibres from skeletal muscle in response to local pressure, sustained stretch, repetitive contraction and intra-arterial injections of bradykinin, 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT), potassium, phosphate, and lactate were studied in anaesthetized cats.Of the 75 fibres of the study, 5 units were activated by sustained stretch, the responses occurring with a delay. These stretch-sensitive units could not be activated by local pressure or muscular contraction. Thirteen group IV afferents raised their discharge frequency during repetitive contractions. Some of the units responded immediately with the onset of the contractions, whereas the others showed a pronounced delay.Forty-six units were tested with all or most of the above mechanical and chemical stimuli. In 32 afferents a response to at least one of the stimuli was present. Taking only these units into account, several groups of receptors could be distinguished by their different response combinations. One group was activated by pain-producing substances, but not by muscular activity and thus showed nociceptive properties. Another group showed a raised activity during muscular contractions but did not respond to the algesic agents bradykinin and 5-HT. Units belonging to this group might serve as ergoceptors. The borderline between the two groups was not sharp, a considerable number of group IV afferents was found which had both nociceptive and ergoceptive properties. 相似文献

Summary Intracellular and extracellular responses were recorded with glass micro-electrodes from motoneurons in the IIIrd and IVth cranial nuclei of anesthesized rabbits. Five subgroups of neurons innervating the superior rectus (SR), inferior oblique (IO), inferior rectus (IR), medial rectus (MR), and superior oblique (IVth) extraocular muscles were identified by their antidromic activation from the branches of the IIIrd and IVth cranial nerves. The relative positions of the subgroups thus determined were consistent with the histological data on the rabbit. In the SR, IO, IR, and IVth subgroups the effects of ipsilateral VIIIth nerve stimulation were inhibitory, producing disynaptic IPSPs, while the effects of contralateral VIIIth nerve stimulation were excitatory, producing disynaptic EPSPs. In the MR subgroup, however, a mixture of EPSPs and IPSPs was produced by VIIIth nerve stimulation: this was particularly clear on the ipsilateral side. Sites relaying these VIIIth nerve effects to each of the five subgroups were explored by direct stimulation of various brain stem sites. Stimulation of the superior vestibular nucleus (SV) produced IPSPs monosynaptically in all five subgroups on the ipsilateral side as well as in the contralateral MR subgroup. Stimulation of the medial vestibular nucleus (MV) produced EPSPs monosynaptically in all of the five subgroups on the contralateral side as well as in the ipsilateral MR subgroup. Stimulation of the brachium conjunctivum (BC) also produced EPSPs monosynaptically in the contralateral SR, IO, and IR subgroups. Further, while the recording electrode was placed within each of the five subgroups to observe the extracellular potentials corresponding to the intracellularly recorded IPSPs and EPSPs, the medulla and cerebellum were systematically tracked with a monopolar stimulating electrode. It was thus confirmed that the SV is the sole inhibitory relay site, while excitation is relayed by both the MV and the BC. The origin of the BC pathway was traced to the Y-Group for the IO, to the lateral nucleus of the cerebellum (LN) for the IR, and to both the Y-Group and the LN for the SR subgroup. 相似文献

We propose a new mechanism of atrial fibrillation basing on the results of 30 series of acute experiments on anesthetized cats. In brief, combination of two or more arrhythmogenic factors shortens the interval between the inward and outward ionic currents in cardiomyocytes to a critical value. Under these conditions repolarization of cardiomyocyte membrane reaches the excitation threshold before complete inactivation of the depolarizing currents. This inevitably results in autoexcitation of myocytes (or extrasystole), that in turn promotes repolarization. Once occurred, autoexcitation turns into self-triggering activity resembling tachyarrhythmia paroxysm. 相似文献

Molecular cloning and sequence analysis of full-length cDNAs encoding new group of Cyn d 1 isoallergens 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
BACKGROUND: Cyn d 1, the major allergen of Bermuda grass pollen, contains some acidic/basic isoforms. The N-terminal amino acid sequences of some acidic Cyn d 1 isoforms were found to be different from those of Cyn d 1 cDNA clones identified previously. METHODS: A predicted 17-meric oligonucleotide probe was designed to fish the unidentified isoallergen cDNAs out of BGP cDNA library. The reactive clones were isolated and verified by sequencing. Two of them were expressed in the yeast Pichia pastoris to obtain recombinant Cyn d 1 proteins. RESULTS: All four cDNA clones encode the full-length Cyn d 1 with mature proteins of 244 amino acid residues. A 97-99% identity was found among the deduced amino acids of these four clones while an 86% identity was elicited between the four clones and the ones previously identified. The predicted isoelectric focusing (pI) values of the newly identified Cyn d 1s are acidic while pIs of the previously identified Cyn d 1s are basic. The two recombinant acidic Cyn d 1 proteins possess the epitopes recognized by mouse and rabbit polyclonal anti-Cyn d 1 antibodies, and have human IgE-binding capacity as revealed by immunodot assay. CONCLUSIONS: The present study identified full-length cDNAs encoding new isoallergens of Cyn d 1, and separated Cyn d 1 gene into an acidic group and a basic group. 相似文献

National Taiwan University College of Medicine (NTUCM) introduced small groups of teaching and basic-clinical integrated courses for medical students in 1992. By using computer network and multimedia techniques, this study tried to overcome barriers to learning in small group teaching. The Department of Medical Informatics of NTUCM established campus networking and computer classrooms and provided Internet and intranet network services including mail, netnews, bulletin board systems (BBS), world wide web (WWW), gopher, ftp and local file servers. To implement an interactive learning environment, the authors first tried mail lists, newsgroups and BBS. Next an integrated learning system prototype on the WWW was developed to provide functions including online syllabus, discussion boards simulated to BBS, online talk, interactive case studies, virtual classroom with video on demand (VOD) and Internet medical resources. The results showed that after the medical students completed the required course of medical informatics and had good network access using a network to communicate with each other became a daily practice. In the future, the system will extend to the tutoring of clinical practice and continuing medical education. Summary This short paper summarizes the basic concept and the technology of a new computed radiographic system which uses an energy-storage phosphorus panel called Imaging Plate as an image sensor. The Imaging Plate can be used to obtain radiographs in exactly the same way as the screen-film combination is used in conventional radiography. The system eliminates the drawbacks of conventional screen-film radiography by combining digital image processing and digitization of the x-ray energy pattern utilizing scanning laser stimulated luminescence.The major part of this paper was originally delivered at the 1984 AAPM Annual Summer School which was held on July 22–27 at University of Notre Dame, USA.
